Melanie Blatt insists flipping burgers is 'more fulfilling' than her time in All Saints - raving over 'liberating and ego-boosting' new career on Good Morning Britain and claiming performing 'isn't her happy place'
Melanie Blatt insisted flipping burgers is 'more fulfilling' than her time in All Saints as she raved about her new career on Good Morning Britain. The singer, 50, appeared on Thursday's instalment of the ITV show and opened up to co-hosts Richard Madeley, 69, and Kate Garraway, 58. Melanie announced last month that she had taken a career turn and launched her own gourmet burger business called FullFillings. She has also started working as a chef at The Londesborough pub in Stoke Newington, north London, as part of the venue's celebrity chef residency on Tuesdays. The All Saints star explained: 'It was sort of the fantasy, I've always loved cooking, loved cooking shows and then as I was doing Master Chef something clicked and I just loved the environment. It's another creative thing and I'm just obsessed.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She shared how she asked herself what her 'real passion' was and when she turned 50 years old, decided to 'do it'. 'I basically take slow cooked meats and stews and casseroles and curries, I take that meat, put it in a burger shape, I bread crumb it, I deep fry it and then that goes in your burger and the sauce that it's cooked in, you dip your burger in,' the pop star revealed. Melanie admitted she was finding the work 'more satisfying' than being a singer. 'It's really nice to do something that's just me. My ego is enjoying this a little bit,' she shared. The singer added: 'Obviously being in the band was so amazing but it's a shared experience, opinions are shared, every decision is shared between four. 'Having complete control over what I'm doing is liberating.' Melanie was one of the biggest pop stars of the 1990s and rose to fame in All Saints alongside Shaznay Lewis and Natalie and Nicole Appleton. They sold 10million records worldwide, scored five UK number one singles, won two BRIT Awards and were household names after first shooting to fame in 1997. When the band finally drifted in different directions in 2001, Melanie then had a stab at a solo singing career before later taking various parts in reality TV shows. Nineties pop star Melanie Blatt shared a video from the London pub where she is working making gourmet burgers as she shared an exciting update last month She worked on ITV show The Hot Desk alongside bandmate Nicole, Dave Berry and Emma Willis and was also a judge/mentor on an overseas version of The X Factor. Showing off her love of cooking, Melanie then took part in Celebrity Masterchef in 2022 and has now taken her culinary skills to the next level. Melanie made her professional debut as a chef at The Londesborough last month and her residency will take place every Tuesday for the foreseeable future. On Melanie's first night, the residency had only been soft launched with with no mention of the celebrity chef anywhere on the menu.

All Saints' Melanie Blatt in tears as she shares update on mum's health setback
Melanie Blatt was left in tears during an interview on Good Morning Britain as she opened up about her time on Celebrity Race Across the World with her mum Helene. The All Saints singer became emotional as she was shown a clip from her time on the show where her mum spoke about the star's battle with scoliosis. "Mum doesn't cry, we don't have those moments. We're quite a bullish family so you're making me cry just seeing it again," she told hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley. "She's also literally in recovery from having some valves put into her heart, it's her first big thing so she's at home. Hi mum I love you! "It was really emotional - it wasn't always fun but I'm so pleased that I got to spend a month travelling around with mum."

As All Saints Melanie Blatt becomes the latest celebrity to launch her own pub, I put the popstar's menu to the test - and one item left me shocked
She was in one of the most iconic bands of the nineties, selling 12 million records and establishing a fashion look that defined the age. So fans who associate her with All Saints may be surprised at Melanie Blatt 's latest career move: she has swapped her microphone for a spatula as she cooks burgers in a London pub. The 50-year-old singer has followed through with the culinary promise she showed while appearing in Celebrity MasterChef to now cook professionally. She has taken on a weekly residency in the kitchen of fashionable gastropub The Londesborough, in Stoke Newington, north London, where she is turning out a trio of burgers to a booked out crowd. And MailOnline went along last night to taste test Melanie's menu. Despite being the star attraction, Melanie herself remains hidden out of sight in the kitchen visible only occasionally throught the small serving hatch. There is no branding advertising her presence, with even the menus - emblazoned with the name of her company Full Fillings - not containing her name. When we arrived Melanie was already whirring around the kitchen prepping for service - and she told us she 'loves it!' The new venture, into its third week of a soft launch - meaning it has had no advance publicity - but word-of-mouth has meant it's getting very busy on the Tuesday night slot which Melanie has taken. And Melanie's new boss - pub manager Marc Baxter - says he hopes he can persuade her to carry on working at the pub for at least the summer. He is even planning to create a dedicated outside area so she can take her passion project to the next level. Londesborough regulars say it is a refreshing attitude for a celebrity commercial venture: people are buying her food because it tastes good, not because they are a fan of her music, they insist. And that food is a reinvention of the traditional burger: instead of a fast fried patty, she slow cooks meat or pasta to create something that's more intensely flavoured but still serves as what is recognisably a burger in a brioche bun served with fries alongside a dipping sauce. So how was it? We tried all three options on her burger menu. 'The Chicken One', containing a Caribbean-inspired chicken curry, was well spiced yet refreshing, with a deep boost of home-coming flavour. It can be picked up for £19. 'The Cheese One' – Melanie's indulgent £18 veggie option - was rich with oozing creaminess, undercut neatly by a tangy tomato dipping sauce. And 'The Beef One', the most popular amongst the customers we polled despite being the most expensive at £20, was intensely beefy and juicy. Each had its own appeal but the chicken came top of our rankings, followed by the cheese patty and the beef birria, although each made a delicious departure from the stale world of the barbecue staple. Melanie has stepped back from the burgers we know and loved and transformed them into an extravagant revaluation of flavour that is unique to her kitchen. As we nosed through her door at the end of our meal the famous chef remained too busy to talk but flung her hands in the air and said 'Yay!' as she was told we loved the food – showing her satisfaction as she succeeds in her new project. The Never Ever singer paired up with The Londesborough after being recommended by a friend working at the bar. Pub manager Marc, 53, is delighted to have her on board - having been friends with other members of All Saints in his youth. This is despite not being a fan of the girl group's tunes - he spent the 90s as a commercial fashion model listening to electronic music. He told MailOnline: 'It's an opportunity for her to explore her vision - she's got a real passion for cooking and a track record as a chef. People might think it's a novel idea and it's going down very well. 'If you've seen the reels that she posts she's just fully immersed. I'm like - you're that happy about having to cater logistically? I've been in the business for a long time and I know what that means! 'The commitment she's got is based on the passion she's got, otherwise spending 12 hours in the kitchen is a massive commitment.' Melanie made her professional debut as a chef at The Londesborough earlier this month, when her kitchen was 'soft launched'. Its only public announcement came on Melanie's Instagram page as the pub held back on publicising its new venture to start off with. But it has already been so popular that Marc is looking to the future. He continued: 'This is to establish Mel's concept as an ongoing concern. She's going to be with us for at least the summer we hope! 'We've got designs on giving her a designated space in the garden and pushing a really busy summer. 'There's definitely an element of fandom but Mel's taken that in her stride and they're there for the food. 'Last week we were packed! We had 100 people. It's done well. 'My 16-year-old son has had two burgers already - he's a fully-fledged fan! 'Mel's great - it's a Stokey, villagey vibe and everyone loves her. She fits right in.' DJ Silvio Pacini and Warren Bradshaw are both friends of Mel, and had come along to support her new venture. Both had enjoyed the beef birria burger and said Melanie had been excited to finally make her dream a reality. Silvio said: 'I've known her for 20 years. The burger was really nice. 'I'll try and come back, I don't live here. I saw her on Instagram and was like I'm definitely going to try it. 'She's been thinking about doing something like this for a very long time so I wanted to come and support. It's amazing.' Warren, who lives in Lisbon, added: 'We've not seen her yet – she's too busy in the kitchen! She knows we're here. 'I was at a mutual friend's birthday party on Friday and I saw her and I think it was three or four days after the initial first night. 'She's excited, tentative – all the things you would be if you if you're starting something new. But very, very excited and very much about, I'm going to put everything into this.' Lana Henry and Henry Beattie – both fans of All Saints – visited the pub after hearing that she was cooking behind the scenes. Lana said: 'I liked their music. I've heard it's a good burger and am quite excited.' And Henry, who organised the trip, continued: 'It's just really quite random, isn't it! I didn't even know that she was a chef! 'I saw her on Celebrity Race Across The World but she doesn't really cook on there. Locals Pam Dunkley and Steven Willoughby (both pictured) didn't know Melanie has a residency at the pub - but have said they will come back to try her dishes in the future 'I have no expectations but I'm curious to see what it is like.' Pam Dunkley, 85, and Steven Willoughby, 68, had no idea that Melanie had a special menu before turning up at the Londesborough and had to order from the ordinary list. And the locals were amazed to find out who was cooking behind the scenes – and said they would make sure to come back and try it another time. Pam said: 'My daughter has her records. Well done her! She's obviously multi-talented. 'It's discrete – it's a good way to let the food speak for itself. That will keep us going through the meal!'

All Saints icon reveals she is working in a pub after huge career change
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Huge 90s pop star Melanie Blatt has swapped her stage costumes for a chef's apron, having started working in a London pub. Sharing a glimpse of her new occupation, the singer took to Instagram, where she boasts 109,000 followers, having filmed herself hard at work on her speciality burgers. Known for tunes such as I Know Where It's At and Never Ever, All Saints favourite Mel Blatt, now 50, got her big break in 1993 when the group was formed. The band also included Shaznay Lewis and Simone Rainford. Simone later left the band due to a power struggle with Shaznay, and Nicole and Natalie Appleton joined in 1996. The foursome achieved great success with their music, acquiring five UK number-one singles, two multi-platinum albums, and two Brit Awards. But these days, Mel likes to mix things up, working up a sweat at north London boozer, The Londesborough. Mel, who has sold over 10million records worldwide, picked up her first shift this week to take on the establishment's celebrity chef spot. She'll clock in every Tuesday for the coming weeks to serve up mouth-watering burgers with chunky chips. Taking to Instagram on Monday, Melanie confirmed some exciting news as she revealed she will expanding her residency. 'Alright guys, I'm looking shocking today, extra shocking! But this is my shameless plug to come and eat my burgers tomorrow, come on, I know you want to,' she said. 'It's a good way to start the week off I think. I've already been in the kitchen for so long already and it's only 1.30pm. 'Anyway come eat my burgers! Also exciting news for me, and hopefully for you as well, I'm serving my burgers on Friday as well, this Friday coming.' Available options include either a slow-cooked beef or jerk chicken patty, which is paired with gravy, and there's a macaroni cheese burger for vegetarians. Announcing her new role earlier this month, the star posted a video showing the whole burger-making process, including preparing her cheese sauce and making the patties from scratch. Mel also took it as an opportunity to launch her own business, writing alongside a series of snaps: 'This was the day I turned 50! 'I spent it cooking for the people I love. I thought it was the perfect moment to launch my new business @fullfillingsfood. 'I'll be at @thelondesborough every Tuesday. Follow the FullFillings page for updates.' She was inundated with messages of support in the comments, with model Daisy Lowe writing: 'Oh wow!!!! Congratulations & happiest birthday beautiful Mel. I definitely have to come down and eat your grub ♥️♥️♥️' 'You are phenomenal', declared comedian Dawn French. 'Mega!! So excited my love ❤️', said Lisa Snowdon. While All Saints broke up in 2001, they've had several reunions since, including in 2006 and 2013, before going on hiatus in 2022 after releasing their fifth studio album. More Trending Mel was the first member to embark on a solo career after the band initially split, with the others later following in her footsteps. Her solo music included debut single TwentyFourSeven with Artful Dodger, which peaked at number six in the UK. She's also performed on small tours, and in 2013 and 2015, she was a judge on The X Factor in New Zealand. When she's not cooking away these days, she picks up DJ gigs and has made TV appearances, such as a stint on Celebrity MasterChef in 2023. Nineties pop legend shares video from the London pub where she works making burgers as she shares exciting update on new career venture
Nineties pop star Melanie Blatt shared a video from the London pub where she is working making gourmet burgers as she shared an exciting update. The All Saints singer, 50, has taken a career turn as she has started working as a chef at The Londesborough pub in Stoke Newington, North London. She has launched a new food business called FullFillings and her stint at the pub is part of the venue's celebrity chef residency on Tuesdays. 'Anyway come at my burgers! Showing off her love of cooking, Melanie then took part in Celebrity Masterchef in 2022 and has now taken her culinary skills to the next level. Melanie made her professional debut as a chef at The Londesborough earlier this month and her residency will take place every Tuesday for the foreseeable future. On Melanie's first night, the residency had only been soft launched with with no mention of the celebrity chef anywhere on the menu. Its only public announcement came in an announcement on Melanie's Instagram page as the pub held back on publicising its new venture to start off with. In fact, some visitors appeared to be oblivious to the fact that one of the most famous popstars of the nineties was hard at work in the kitchen. One diner eating her beef burger was incredulous on being told who had cooked it - and insisted on going over to peer into the kitchen to confirm it. MailOnline sampled Melanie's signature beef burger to find that in typical Masterchef fashion, it subverts the classic burger by substituting the usual seared minced steak for slow cooked beef moulded into a patty. The patty was served in a brioche bun with manchego cheese and pickled red onions and a side of fries and a rich gravy dip came on the side, for a total of £20. Also up for grabs was the companion chicken burger, which was similarly presented but this time with jerk flavouring notes, on offer for £19. There was also a novelty macaroni cheese burger on her short menu and the dishes have gone down a treat with diners. MailOnline spoke to friends of Melanie who had travelled from Hertfordshire to support her amid her new venture. One told us: 'She's been really hyped about this and has been prepping and practising for days ahead of her debut. 'We all know she's a brilliant cook but there's a big difference from doing it in your own kitchen to being able to produce it to demand on your own for a busy pub. 'She's intent on meeting her own high standards and wants this to work so much.' During her first night, Melanie did pause briefly to pose for a photo and said: 'I'm enjoying it but I haven't got time to chat!'
