Young victims of Menasha fishing gear vandalism to receive donations thanks to overwhelming community support

MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – After overwhelming community outreach helped to quickly identify suspects who destroyed , the Menasha community is stepping up once again to provide those victims with donations. The Menasha Police Department will be hosting a special community event on Thursday, June 12, to recognize the three young victims from the late-May incident, while providing them with the generous donations that have been collected by the community. 'Thanks to widespread support from the public, the victims will be receiving donated fishing gear. Some items are brand new, while others were generously provided by community members and local anglers,' Menasha PD stated in a release. The victims stated that when they were fishing at night, they were approached by two strangers, and without provocation, the strangers threw multiple tackle boxes and fishing rods of theirs into the water. 'They came up and threw our gear in the water for no reason,' said one of the young anglers. 'Everything we needed was in that tackle box.' Within four hours of the case being made public, the two suspects were identified, and officers credited the overwhelming number of tips and messages from the community. 4th Annual Rocky Bleier Golf Outing in Wrightstown raises money for local veterans Officers say the event is a great opportunity to highlight the positive impact of community involvement after a senseless act. 'This is about more than just gear, it's about showing these young people that their community stands with them,' said Community Liaison Officer Matt Roe. MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – The two individuals believed to be involved in a recent incident involving were quickly found by police thanks to what they say was an overwhelming amount of help from the community. According to a release from the Menasha Police Department, the individuals involved in the recent fishing gear vandalism incident near the Menasha Locks were positively identified just four hours after the case was made public. Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office releases dash cam video of pursuit through airport taxiway Police say this is thanks to what was the overwhelming number of tips and messages from the public that helped to directly lead to the identification of both of the individuals involved in the incident. The department says it also received several calls and messages asking how they could help the young victims, with numerous calls asking how to make donations coming from all throughout the Fox Valley. This wasn't just a case of identifying suspects, it was a powerful example of what happens when a community pays attention and takes action. The support, the outrage, and the generosity we've seen remind us why serving Menasha matters. We're grateful, and we're proud. Lt. MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – The Menasha Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a dog and its owner following a bite complaint Tuesday evening. The incident happened just before 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Kwik Trip at the corner of Oneida Street and Plank Road. The dog is described as a bloodhound-style breed. How to know if you have a REAL ID in Wisconsin: The owner is believed to be an older white male driving a green Ford pickup truck, possibly an F-250 or F-350, with a rolled-up tonneau cover and white decals on the back window. MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 23-year-old student teacher in the Menasha Joint School District was taken into custody following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student. According to the Menasha Police Department, investigators received information indicating there had been alleged sexual misconduct between the male student teacher and a student. Police are recommending a charge of sexual misconduct by a school staff person or volunteer. 19-year-old Chicagoan arrested in Wisconsin on drug charges, possession stolen firearm The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted with the assistance of the Menasha Joint School District and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Police Department.
