Mercedes-Benz hikes prices in India by up to 1.5%; new rates effective from June and September 2025

Mercedes-Benz has announced a price revision across its entire Indian lineup, with increases of up to 1.5 per cent to be rolled out in two stages. The first phase of the hike will take effect from 1 June 2025, followed by a second increment on 1 September 2025. According to the company, this two-stage process is designed to soften the financial impact on customers and provide more flexibility in planning their purchases. The luxury carmaker confirmed that prices will rise by amounts ranging from ₹ 90,000 to ₹ 12.2 lakh, depending on the model. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class will see the smallest increase of ₹ 90,000, raising its starting price to ₹ 60.3 lakh (ex-showroom). The GLC 300 4MATIC will become dearer by ₹ 1.5 lakh, with its new price set at ₹ 78.3 lakh. Meanwhile, the E 200 will see a rise of ₹ 2 lakh, taking its new price to ₹ 81.5 lakh. The GLE 300d 4MATIC AMG Line will have a price increase of ₹ 2.5 lakh, pushing its sticker price to ₹ 1.01 crore. The EQS SUV 450 4MATIC will see a ₹ 3 lakh jump, making its new price ₹ 1.31 crore, while the GLS 450 4MATIC will now cost ₹ 1.37 crore after a ₹ 3.1 lakh increase. The most substantial hike applies to the flagship Mercedes-Maybach S 680, which will see its price rise by ₹ 12.2 lakh, taking it to ₹ 3.60 crore. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom. Mercedes-Benz stated that despite having absorbed rising operational costs for some time, it is now compelled to pass on a portion of these costs to customers to ensure business sustainability. The company attributed the need for the price revision primarily to the sharp increase in foreign exchange rates since January 2025, which has significantly impacted the cost structure of components and fully imported models. Explaining the rationale behind the two-stage price hike, Mercedes said that the staggered approach would allow customers to plan their purchases more effectively and opt for finance schemes that best suit their needs. The company highlighted that for popular models like the GLC and GLC SUVs, the increase in monthly instalments would be less than ₹ 2,000 after the price adjustment. Through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, the company offers various flexible payment options, including lower interest rates, reduced EMIs, and partial ownership schemes.

Mercedes-Benz India Announces Two-Stage Price Hike Amid Forex Pressures

New Delhi — Mercedes-Benz India has announced a two-phase hike in the ex-showroom prices of its models, citing sharp fluctuations in foreign exchange rates as the primary driver behind the move. The luxury automaker will implement the price revision in two stages: the first effective from June 1, 2025, and a second increase of up to 1.5% on September 1, 2025. According to the company, the decision was made to help customers plan their purchases more effectively and minimize the financial burden through flexible financing solutions offered by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services (MBFS). The phased revision comes as the Euro-INR exchange rate has depreciated by approximately 10% in the past four months, substantially raising the cost of imported components and Completely Built Units (CBUs). 'We have been absorbing the brunt of the forex impact so far, and increasing localization efforts. However, due to sustained operational cost pressures, we are now compelled to pass on a minimal portion of these increases to the market,' said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. Despite the price hike, the company is assuring customers that monthly Equated Monthly Instalments (EMIs) will remain largely unaffected, thanks to innovative financing plans like STAR AGILITY and other flexible ownership programs. For example, EMI differences on popular models such as the GLA and GLC are expected to be under Rs 2,000. The second phase of the price correction will see an additional increase of up to 1.5% across the model lineup starting September 1, 2025. Mercedes-Benz emphasized that despite the price adjustments, its continued focus on localization and value-added services will ensure that luxury car buyers face only a minimal increase in ownership costs.

Mercedes-Benz drops attempt to repossess car of Deion Sanders' son Shilo

Mercedes-Benz drops attempt to repossess car of Deion Sanders' son Shilo Mercedes-Benz has backed down from its attempt to repossess the car of Colorado football safety Shilo Sanders. The company's financial services arm filed a document in court Monday saying it has withdrawn its motion for relief from the bankruptcy court where Sanders is trying to free himself of more than $11 million in debt. It didn't say why, but Shilo's father and coch, Deion Sanders, said Friday that Shilo had fulfilled his financial obligations while acknowledging there was a 'disruption in the payments process.' The company could have decided to drop it if he recently paid what he owed. The issue came to a head last week when Mercedes-Benz Financial Services filed documents in court that accused Shilo of defaulting on his monthly payments for his $135,000 car. It said he was $6,877 past due and wanted the court's permission to repossess the car that he agreed to buy in May 2023. Bankruptcy case remains pending Shilo Sanders, 25, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy about five months later, in October 2023, which triggered an automatic stay or hold on debt collection against him by his creditors. Mercedes-Benz asked the court for relief from this stay on April 1 so it could get the car back. Even after filing for bankruptcy, Sanders had continued to make payments on it in 2024 but stopped doing so from December to January, according to the company's court filing. 'Debtor (Sanders) indicated an intent to retain the motor vehicle and reaffirm the obligation,' the company said in its motion filed April 1. By withdrawing its request, the company ends a brief sideshow in a larger bankruptcy case that remains pending and in dispute. Debt stems from disputed incident in 2015 Almost all of Shilo's debt is owed to a security guard at his former school in Dallas, John Darjean, who is fighting to collect all that he is owed. It stems from an incident in 2015, when Darjean said Shilo severely injured him when he tried to confiscate Shilo's phone at school. Shilo has said it was in self-defense. But Darjean sued Shilo and both of his parents for damages. Then after both parents were dropped from the case by early 2019, Shilo was the sole remaining defendant when he went off to college at South Carolina that year. About a year later, in 2020, Shilo dropped his attorneys in the case because he was 'unwilling or unable to continue funding' his defense, according to his attorneys then. Then when the case finally went to trial in 2022, he didn't show up for it. The judge heard evidence in the case without him there and issued a $11.89 million default judgment against Shilo, all owed to Darjean. By filing for bankruptcy, his goal is to have the debt discharged so he can get a 'fresh start in life, free from the oppressive burden of his debts,' as his attorney wrote. If Shilo succeeds, he will emerge with relatively little financial damage. But if the debt is not discharged by the court, Darjean could pursue debt collection against him in the future. Shilo recently has been preparing for the NFL draft and on Friday ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds – a good time for a safety prospect. He was Colorado's leading tackler in 2023 and third-leading tackler in 2024 despite missing three games with a broken forearm. Follow reporter Brent Schrotenboer @Schrotenboer. Email: bschrotenb@

Deion Sanders addresses son Shilo's Mercedes issue: 'Bulljunk came out'

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders addressed the bankruptcy case of his son Shilo Friday and said a recent financial issue involving Shilo's car was because of a 'disruption in payments' after the termination of his online account. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services on Tuesday filed a motion in court that said Shilo, an NFL draft prospect, defaulted on his car payments for a Mercedes car that he agreed to purchase in May 2023 on a monthly payment plan. The company said he was past due for $6,877 in payments and hadn't paid his monthly installments from December through February. Advertisement As a result, the company asked the bankruptcy court's permission to repossess the car amid Shilo's bankruptcy proceedings. Deion Sanders brought up the issue at a news conference Friday during Colorado's pro day workouts in Boulder. 'I know some other bulljunk came out, but he fulfilled all his financial obligations,' Deion Sanders said. 'These issues appear to have risen due to disruptions in the payment process −this is from his attorney − 'following the termination of Mr. Sanders' online account access.' So he's good.' Why was this an issue? Mercedes-Benz Financial Services considered this 'disruption in payments' to be a default on payments, meaning he stopped paying what he owed. As a result, the company moved to take the car back because Shilo, a safety for Colorado, still owes $97,239 on a $135,000 car from 2023 that now has a trade-in value of $97,000, according to its court filing in federal bankruptcy court. Advertisement Shilo's bankruptcy filing in October 2023 triggered an automatic stay or hold on debt collection efforts against him. But Mercedes-Benz Financial Services argued it should be entitled to relief from this stay under these circumstances. 'The motor vehicle is depreciating in value, the contract is in default and the movant (Mercedes-Benz Financial Services) is being prevented by the automatic stay from exercising its remedies to repossess and liquidate its collateral, the motor vehicle,' said the court filing from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services and its attorney Doug Koktavy. Shilo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after falling into more than $11 million debt – almost all of it owed to one man, John Darjean, a security guard from his former school in Dallas. It's not clear yet if making any back payments will change the position of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. The company's attorney didn't immediately return a message. Why does Shilo Sanders owe this money? It stems from an incident in 2015, when Shilo was 15 and Darjean tried to confiscate his phone at school. Darjean accused Shilo of elbowing and punching him, causing severe and permanent injuries. Advertisement Shilo has said it was self-defense. But Darjean sued Shilo for damages. And when the case finally went to trial in Dallas in 2022, Shilo didn't show up for it. The judge then issued an $11.89 million default judgment against Shilo after hearing evidence at the trial. After Darjean tried to collect on that judgment owed to him, Shilo filed for bankruptcy to stop the debt-collection efforts and try to have the debt discharged so he could get a 'fresh start.' Darjean is fighting this in court because he wants to collect every penny he's owed. If Darjean succeeds, the debt could follow Shilo into his NFL career. If Shilo succeeds in court, the debt will go away with relatively little harm done to him financially. 'Different standard' for Sanders family Shilo, now 25, was Colorado's leading tackler in 2023 and third-leading tackler in 2024 despite missing three games with a broken forearm. On Friday, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds, a good time for a safety prospect. Advertisement 'I love who he is on and off the field,' Deion Sanders said of Shilo. 'He's a great young man.' His father on Friday also generally addressed how his family is held to 'a different standard.' His youngest son, Shedeur, is a top quarterback prospect for the NFL draft in April. 'I'm held to a different standard, but I don't care,' Deion Sanders said. 'We are here to change the game, so you're gonna be held to a different standard. I like that. All the kids that play for CU are held to a different standard when we walk into a city. And the way you (the news media) report on us, you're held to a different standard. So we cool with that. Ain't nothing changed about that.' Follow reporter Brent Schrotenboer @Schrotenboer.
