Micklethwait's standout barbecue finds a new home
Micklethwait Craft Meats, a star of the Austin barbecue trailer scene for nearly a dozen years, moved to a one-time church about two miles east of its former home earlier this year and changed its name to Micklethwait Barbecue.
State of play: You'll find same elite, melt-in-your-mouth brisket, with booth seating inside and ample picnic-style seating outside in a nicely landscaped space.
And Micklethwait's sides continue to shine. You can't miss with any of them, but we especially loved the lemon poppy slaw, citrus beet salad, green chili grits and mac and cheese.
The intrigue: We arrived about 11:30am on Saturday and waited in line for less than 10 minutes. The restaurant was busy but not jam packed.
What to order: The two meat platter, which comes with two sides. Aside from the brisket, we loved the pork ribs, but found the sausage a bit dry.
We washed it down with a draft Secret Beach, Meanwhile Brewing's excellent San Diego-style IPA.
