‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch' is bringing glam-rock glory to Carriageworks this July
Sydney, it's time to put on some makeup and pull the wig down from the shelf – because Hedwig has finally announced plans to head on over to our wicked little town. Following a smash-hit season with Adelaide Festival, GWB Entertainment and Andrew Henry Presents have confirmed that Hedwig and the Angry Inch will unleash its raw energy at Sydney's Carriageworks from July 17. Hailed by Rolling Stone as 'the best rock musical ever' and featuring a razor-sharp catalogue of songs including 'The Origin of Love', 'Midnight Radio' and 'Sugar Daddy', Hedwig and the Angry Inch holds a special place for many queer people and rock music devotees. The world needs the wisdom of John Cameron Mitchell 's cult masterpiece of gender-fuckery more than ever – and an arguably perfect team of local queer talents have come together to create this original Australian production. (I was lucky enough to head over to the country's festival capital for the premiere in February, and it was every bit as gloriously gritty, grungy, hilarious and heart-wrenching as I hoped it would be!) Seann Miley Moore stars as the hedonistic anti-heroine herself, Hedwig. Moore took out the critics' choice award for Best Performance in a Musical in the inaugural Time Out Sydney Arts & Culture Awards with their acclaimed take on the Engineer (or, as Moore describes them, the 'Engin-Queer') in Miss Saigon, and this wild, rock-fuelled role is your chance to see them like you've never seen them before. Along a live rock band, Seann stars opposite acclaimed actor, singer, songwriter Adam Noviello (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Hedwig's devoted yet defiant partner, Yitzhak. Before Sydney takes a taste of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in July, the show will play at Melbourne's Athenaeum from June 13. General public tickets for the Carriageworks season will go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, April 29, at

Zoinks! Netflix is releasing a live-action 'Scooby-Doo' series. What we know so far Show Caption Hide Caption What the emojis in Netflix's 'Adolescence' mean Since its release, Netflix's 'Adolescence' has sparked widespread discussion, offering a chilling look at the impact of the internet and social media on children. unbranded - Entertainment Netflix announced the plot for its new live-action "Scooby-Doo" series on Wednesday. The eight-episode series will explore the origin of the Mystery Inc. gang. A cast nor release date has yet to be announced. Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you? We've got a Netflix series to watch now. On Wednesday, Netflix announced that it will be soon be distributing the first-ever live-action "Scooby-Doo" television series, with a story set before the Mystery Inc. gang officially got together. In over more than 50 years, the "Scooby-Doo" characters and stories have yet to be seen as a live-action series, brought to life only in animated shows and three live-action movies. Here's what we know about Netflix's newly announced "Scooby Doo" series. What is the new 'Scooby-Doo' series about? The new series will serve as an origin story for the Mystery Inc. gang, all based on the original Hanna-Barbera characters. Here's what Netflix has to say about it: "During their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever-so-handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets." Who's acting in the new 'Scooby-Doo' series? Netflix has not announced who will be playing the main lineup of characters in the new live-action series. When does the new live-action 'Scooby-Doo' series release? A release date has yet to be announced for Netflix's new "Scooby-Doo" live-action series. Who is creating the series? The series is being spearheaded by Midnight Radio, a Los Angeles-based production company led by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. Midnight Radio has recently worked on the live-action remake of "Cowboy Bebop" for Netflix, the series "High Fidelity" for Hulu and the drama series "Everything Sucks" for Netflix. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions, in addition to Midnight Radio's André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner are also working on the series. What are fans saying? First and foremost, fans are pleading for the return of the cast from the 2002 "Scooby-Doo" movie and the 2004 sequel "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed": Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne and Linda Cardellini as Velma. TikTok user Jake Lubbehusen said Netflix's description of the series, which includes mention of a "supernatural murder," makes him think the series may be geared to an older audience. "We might me looking at more of an adult-oriented type show, which honestly, I am here for," Lubbehusen said in a TikTok video. But others aren't so sure. TikTok user Miko said in a video that if the series centers around a "Great Dane puppy," he expects the Mystery Inc. gang to be kids, to follow the correct timeline. "I hope this is what they do because I feel like it'll be kind of weird to have a puppy Scooby-Doo while the rest of Mystery Inc. are older teens," Miko said in his video. Some fans are concerned what Netflix means by a "modern reimagining," fearful of HBO's two-season series, "Velma." The origin story of the Mystery Inc. character has been criticized by fans for skewing away from the original "Scooby-Doo" storyline. "In a world where our most current 'Scooby-Doo' content is 'Velma' and that's just pure trash, I'm willing to to accept a live-action 'Scooby-Doo' series on Netflix," TikTok user Cris Parker, known online as C3 Films, said in a TikTok video. New Netflix Series Is About Scooby-Doo Being A Witness To Murder
A new live-action Scooby-Doo series is officially happening at Netflix and the show is set to tell the tale of how the famous mystery-solving team came together. Apparently that origin story involves a young Scooby witnessing a murder and then vanishing. On March 26, as reported by Variety, Netflix and Warner Bros. officially announced a new eight-episode live-action Scooby-Doo series was in the works. The show doesn't have a release date yet but will be be written by showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. The duo are also producing the untitled series via their production company, Midnight Radio. The show was previously reported to exist in 2024. Here's the official logline for the upcoming Scooby show: During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets. I didn't have a 'Scooby-Doo Watches A Person Die' show on my 2025 bingo card, but here we are. Of course, it's possible that by the end of the first season it will be revealed that nobody died and it was all a scam by some angry janitor or rich landowner. Maybe a mask will even be ripped off of someone's face in a dramatic fashion? 'We're thrilled to collaborate with our longstanding partners at Berlanti Productions and with Midnight Radio to bring the legendary Scooby-Doo franchise to a live-action series for the first time,' said Clancy Collins White, president of creative affairs for Warner Bros. Television. 'It's no mystery why audiences continue to love these iconic characters after more than a half century. We're excited for a new generation to discover Mystery Inc. And we're grateful to our partners at Netflix for the opportunity.' 'Mystery, Inc. is back in business! We're excited to bring Scooby-Doo to TV as a live-action series for the first time,' said Peter Friedlander, vice president of scripted series for Netflix. I can't wait for this show to randomly drop on Netflix with little marketing, get buried by the algorithm and never get a second season while a few angry fans complain about it the whole time. .
