Kirron Kher ‘Can't Appreciate Every Film' Of Anupam Kher And She Is ‘Blunt About That'

Kirron Kher revealed how she has often been 'blunt' with her husband Anupam Kher about his films, even if it means telling him she didn't like them. Kirron Kher has always been known for her candid nature and unfiltered opinions. Whether it is about her work, personal beliefs or family, the veteran actress does not hold back. In a recent conversation, she revealed how she has often been 'blunt' with her husband, actor Anupam Kher, about his films, even if it means telling him she didn't like them. She also opened up about the advice she gives her son, Sikandar, urging him not to be overly selective with his work. Kirron Kher Criticises Husband Anupam Kher's Films During a conversation with CNN-News 18 Kirron shared, 'I am not one of those people who appreciates family members just like that. I am rather blunt about that. My husband feels bad about it. He has done so many films. Some of them are good, some aren't, so I can't appreciate every film of his. I'm a dangerous woman to take to film trials because it is obvious when I don't like a film. It shows on my face." Her straightforwardness is not just limited to her husband's work. Kirron admitted she has been equally upfront about her son Sikandar's performances, citing an example from his 2019 film Milan Talkies, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, which she did not enjoy. Kirron Kher's Advice to Her Son Kirron explained that she often advises Sikandar to take a page from Anupam Kher's career, where he never turned down work for being too choosy. She added, 'I usually like Sikandar's work. He is very particular about his projects. I tell him not to be like me but to be more like Anupam. Anupam has done all the films because he had to earn money and take care of the house and the family. He had to help relatives, his brother and everyone else. Sikandar is a laat saheb (entitled) and he thinks like me but things don't work that way. Aapko bhi kaam karna padega vaise jaise Papa ne kiya (He also has to work like his father did)." The actress pointed out that her own career choices were shaped by her circumstances. 'I had the luxury of choice, I didn't have to run the house, it was Anupam's responsibility. So I could choose what I want to do but if Sikandar also starts doing this then problems will occur," she said. Kirron Kher's Personal Front Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher tied the knot on August 26, 1985. Sikandar is Kirron's son from her first marriage with Gautam Berry. Kirron and Anupam never had children together. In 2020, Kirron was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, following which she has largely maintained a low public profile. She was last seen attending the premiere of Tanvi The Great, directed by Anupam Kher, on July 17, 2025. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
