Heartbreak as promising young jockey, 18, tragically dies in motorbike crash
An 18-year-old jockey has tragically died in a dirtbike accident. New Zealand rider Ngakau Hailey was killed during a collision with a car in Hamilton on Wednesday. The incident took place at the cross roads between Willoughby and Mill Street at around 3.25pm. The young rider, who has been described as 'a lovable kid' and had 'the sky ahead of him', suffered critical injuries in the accident and was rushed to hospital where he later passed away. Local reports say two other individuals were injured in the crash and were taken to hospital after sustaining moderate injuries.

Two Auckland PAK'nSAVE supermarkets plead guilty to breaching Fair Trading Act

The Commerce Commission said it filed charges against PAK'nSAVE Silverdale and PAK'nSAVE Mill St in the Auckland District Court. It said they used inaccurate pricing and misleading specials that might have breached the Fair Trading Act. PAK'nSAVE Silverdale entered guilty pleas on seven charges and was remanded without plea on three further charges. PAK'nSAVE Mill Street entered guilty pleas on four charges and was remanded without plea on four further charges. The maximum penalty for breaches of the Fair Trading Act is $600,000 for a business, per offence. The Commerce Commission said it could not comment further while the case was before the courts.

7-week construction project begins on Sandwich and Mill streets

(Source: Gordie Howe International Bridge/Facebook) Starting Monday, Avertex will complete underground work at the southeast corner of Sandwich Street and Mill Street, related to Sandwich Street's reconstruction. The work being done includes a partial lane shift on Sandwich Street, south of Mill Street, and on Mill Street east of the Sandwich Street intersection. Construction is expected to occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. over the next seven weeks. After this work is complete, the City of Windsor will construct the crosswalks at this intersection. There will be no impact on businesses.
