Minibike crash leaves one injured Monday night

A crash involving a car and a mini bike sent one person to the hospital Memorial Day evening. The accident was reported just before 6:30 Monday night at the intersection of Cole Drive and Helen Road. PSP Erie releases Memorial Day weekend DUI checkpoint results According to Millcreek Township police, the operator of the mini bike was taken to the hospital by ambulance. There's no word on the extent of the injuries but police on scene said they did not appear to be life threatening. The cause of the accident is under investigation Monday night. Teachers throughout the United States are getting extra praise this week during Teacher Appreciation Week. The Millcreek Township School District has been showing its gratitude for teachers. Penn State Behrend turns trash into treasure They've had raffles, food deliveries throughout the week, and have gotten plenty of kind notes from students and parents giving thanks to the work that they do. One teacher explained that they truly care about the growth of their kids. Orphan Angels offers new services thanks to HQ remodel 'The thing that makes me feel most appreciated is when the students are engaged and can demonstrate what they're learning, especially in a real-world situation,' said Kevin Jefferys, an English teacher at McDowell High School. 'Teachers are here because we want to be here. This is our profession and calling. It's important to us, and we wouldn't be here if we didn't want to be here. It's a good message for anyone about why we do what we do. We're here for students,' said Laura Oathoute, special education teacher at McDowell High School. Millcreek Township is exploring the option of bringing a new grocery store to the area. The Millcreek Township Planning Commission met to discuss plans for a new Aldi grocery store to be built along West Ridge Road. Davis admin. asks county council to allocate ICE funds to county budget The nearly 22,000 square foot grocery store would be built near the Walmart at Millcreek Town Center. The planning commission voted unanimously to reccommend the project for township supervisors, and the supervisors will make a final decision in the coming weeks. EMTA kicks off Rider Appreciation Days with special offers 'The Aldi project is proposed to be built next to the west-side Walmart. It's pending right now. It's been approved by the zoning commission. It's been approved by the planning commission. It now goes to the Millcreek township supervisors board for them to approve. It is pending a little bit of information on the retention pond, but other than that, everything seems to be a go,' said Tony Sitter of the Millcreek Township Planning Commission. It's time for spring cleaning and Millcreek Township is launching their seasonal initiatives promoting clean, safe neighborhoods. The township is offering free services for residents to dispose of household waste, leaves, and hazardous materials responsibly. Off to the races — Presque Isle Downs & Casino sees financial boost thanks to Kentucky Derby From May 5 through 9, which is this week, leaves can be picked up in clear bags with regularly scheduled trash collection. Residents can also schedule to dispose of one large item per week. Blind Tiger receives investment of nearly $200K thanks to PA program 'Especially with the leaves we like to see those go and be composed as opposed to fulling the landfill up and i think just general blight and cleanliness throughout the township we want to try to keep everything as clean as possible we do get a lot of complaints off and on from neighbors about if they do see some trash accumulating on anothers property,' said Millcreek Township Supervisor Jim Bock.
