Former USC QB Miller Moss named one of most important players in college football by ESPN

It has certainly been an interesting 12 months for former USC quarterback Miller Moss. This time a year ago, he was preparing to take over as the starting quarterback at USC after waiting his turn for three years. Following an up-and-down 2024 season, however, Moss is now at Louisville, where he is getting set to play his final season of college football. Last week, ESPN's Bill Connelly released his list of the 40 most important players for the 2025 college football season. While no current USC players made the rankings, Moss did, coming in at No. 31. Here is what Connelly had to say about the former USC signal caller: 'Moss was on this list last year as he prepared to succeed Caleb Williams at USC,' Corelli wrote. 'He started the season brilliantly in a win over LSU but finished it on the bench as the Trojans wound up 7-6. He wasn't bad -- he finished 26th in Total QBR -- but a fresh start sure seemed like a decent idea. Jeff Brohm has a pretty good history with quarterbacks, and Moss will have one of the nation's best RB duos (plus explosive receiver Chris Bell) in support. A big Moss season makes the Cardinals contenders.' While he may not be wearing Cardinal and Gold anymore, Moss was class act who represented the Trojans with pride during his four years on campus. USC fans will certainly be wishing him success at Louisville this season and wherever his future takes him beyond that.

USC falls outside top 25 of college football preseason AP Poll

If it was not already clear, the national expectations for USC football are not super high entering the 2025 college football season. Last week, the Trojans were not ranked in the preseason coaches poll for the first time since 2019. On Monday, the preseason AP Poll dropped, and once again USC did not make the top 25. USC did receive 64 votes in the poll. That was the fifth-most among teams not ranked in the top 25. Ironically, just in front of them with 90 votes received was Louisville, who will be led by former USC quarterback Miller Moss this fall. While the Trojans themselves, did not make the rankings, four of USC's 2025 opponents did. That group consists of No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 7 Oregon, No. 12 Illinois, and No. 14 Michigan. A three-game stretch in late September/early October vs. the Illini, Wolverines, and Fighting Irish could very well determine the outcome of the Trojans' season. USC is somewhat fortunate, however, in that they will avoid facing the two highest-ranked Big Ten teams in the preseason AP Poll: No. 2 Penn State and No. 3 Ohio State. In addition, the Trojans will not play No. 20 Indiana in 2025. Of course, preseason polls—while fun and all—do not mean much of anything at the end of the day. If USC can win on the field this fall, the Trojans will quickly see themselves rise up the rankings.

Could Louisville be this year's College Football Playoff crasher?

Josh Pate explains why he is higher on the Cardinals than most entering this season. Subscribe to 'Josh Pate's College Football Show' on YouTube. View more Video Transcript I think Louisville could crash the playoff party if everything goes right with them. I think I'm higher than most people on Miller Moss. I think they've got a sneaky good wide receiver group there. I implicitly trust Jeff Brohm to get the most out of offensive personnel. They've played the portal game. They, they get it, uh, they understand team dynamics. They get Clemson at home on a Friday night and they dominated them in Death Valley last year. They're a total portal mystery team, so I mean there's a, there's a floor that's a little bit lower than I would like, but there's a ceiling that's pretty high, and it just wouldn't shock me if you looked up in November and they're a 10-win team. So they could be that. The over-under win total is 8.5, but they could be that. Close

Former USC quarterback Miller Moss discusses decision to transfer to Louisville

This week, Big Ten media days took place in Las Vegas. However, the Big Ten was not the only school to hold its media days this week. Across the country in Charlotte, the ACC held its own event to kick off the 2025 football season. One of the attendees was Louisville quarterback Miller Moss, who transferred in from USC this past offseason. On Wednesday, Moss discussed the decision behind his transfer. "I think there were very specific things I was looking for in a school and an opportunity," Moss said. "I think coach [Jeff] Brohm and the University of Louisville, which, obviously, includes the program, offered a ton of that. "I think the opportunity to win and compete at a high level was certainly a part of that, and I think we absolutely have that opportunity this year. I think the ability to develop within a pro-style offense, like Chris touched on previously, was important to me. And I think just being around good and decent human beings . . . I wanted to be around good and decent human beings that cared about the right things and cared about one another, and I think I've absolutely found that within this program." After arriving at USC in 2021, Moss spent his first three years as a backup, before finally making his first start in the 2023 Holiday Bowl, ironically, against Louisville. He began his tenure as the starter with a six-touchdown performance against the Cardinals. Followed by a season-opening victory over LSU last year. However, Moss regressed as the season goes on, and was replaced by Jayden Maiava at QB for the final four games of the 2025 season. During the offseason, Moss elected to transfer to Louisville for his final season of eligibility. While he may not be wearing Cardinal and Gold anymore, Moss was class act who represented the Trojans with pride during his four years on campus. USC fans will certainly be wishing him success at Louisville this season and wherever his future takes him beyond that.
