P.E.I. man arrested following shelter in place order in Summerside
One man has been arrested following an emergency alert of an armed and dangerous individual in Summerside, P.E.I. Police issued the alert saying 28-year-old Mitchell Thomas Lannigan of Milltown Cross was armed and dangerous in the Water Street East-area at around 9 a.m. Police also asked the public from MacEwen Road to Reads Corner to shelter in place. At 10 a.m. police announced Lannigan, who fled from police, is now in custody and the shelter in place was lifted. In a news release from Sunday, police issued an arrest warrant for Lannigan after they responded to a reported assault and gunfire at a Miminegash parking lot early Saturday morning. Police said Lannigan had been involved in an altercation with two other men, when he brought out a handgun and fired it, although they do not believe the shots were targeted at people. Arrest warrant issued for P.E.I. man facing assault, weapons charges

RCMP said they are searching for Mitchell Thomas Lannigan, 28, of Milltown Cross. Police said he is facing several charges, including: assault possession of a handgun possession of a handgun while prohibited two counts of pointing a firearm use of a firearm in a careless manner breach of a probation order Police describe Lannigan as white with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said he has a medium build, stands five feet eight inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. RCMP said anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact West Prince RCMP at 902-853-9300, East Prince RCMP at 902-436-9300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
