Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurinderpal Singh, led the rally together. ADC Baramulla Syed Altaf Hussain Mausvi, along with other civil administration officers, army and police personnel, officials from different departments, students, and local residents, all joined in, creating a memorable show of unity and patriotism. The rally started from Saint Joseph School, Baramulla, and passed through the entire town and culminated at Showkat Ali Stadium, according to JK Monitor. The participants chanted slogans and sang patriotic songs. MRI unit, cath lab to come up at GMC Baramulla
The Jammu and Kashmir government will establish an MRI unit and a cath lab at Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla, at a cost of ₹37.5 crore. Deputy commissioner Minga Sherpa reviewed departmental progress under the 2025–26 capex budget through two sector-wise meetings. (HT representative) According to the National Conference, health minister Sakina Itoo announced that a 3 Tesla MRI machine and a Cath Lab will be installed at GMC Baramulla this year. 'AI-based X-ray machines, dialysis units at SDHs/CHCs, and new diagnostic blocks will further boost healthcare infrastructure under CM Omar Abdullah's vision,' the party said in a post on X. Deputy commissioner Minga Sherpa reviewed departmental progress under the 2025–26 capex budget through two sector-wise meetings. He emphasised on transparency, optimal fund use, and strict quality control. Discussions covered irrigation, public works, health, education, rural and urban development. The DC directed officials to clear liabilities, expedite project execution, update the BEAMS portal and submit new work plans by July 10.

FIR after Pakistani national claims to have voted in J&K
SRINAGAR: A probe has been ordered after a Pakistani national, who was deported to his country after the Pahalgam terror attack, claimed that he got an Aadhaar and a voter ID card during his stay in Uri of Baramulla district for 18 years and that he voted in Jammu and Kashmir elections. A video of Pakistani national Osama Imtiyaz during his deportation went viral. Baramulla Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, also the district election officer (DEO), said the Uri electoral officer has taken note of the viral video and registered an FIR over voter enrolment by a non-citizen in violation of the Representation of People Act, 1950 and Citizenship Act, 1955. 'Further probe is underway under BNS & RP Act provisions,' Sherpa said. 'I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and my exams were scheduled to be held in June. I had plans that after completion of the exam, I will prepare for job interviews,' Imtiyaz said in the viral video before his deportation from J&K on April 27. 'We came here (J&K) in 2008 and had been living here for 17 years. We got every document here. We have voted here. We have got Aadhar card, election card, ration card and domicile certificate,' he said in the video.
