Naidu unanimously re-elected TDP chief for 30th year in a row
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was on Wednesday unanimously re-elected as the president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the 30th consecutive year on the second day of Mahanadu, the party's three-day conclave held at Kadapa. TDP election committee chairman and politburo member Varla Ramaiah announced the re-election of Naidu as the party president, as his was the only nomination filed for the post. Later, Naidu took the oath as the TDP president and vowed to stand by the party cadre and strive for strengthening the party. 'I thank every member of the party for unanimously re-electing me and entrusting me with this responsibility. The strength and soul of the Telugu Desam Party are its leaders and cadre,' he said. Naidu was first elected as the TDP president in August 1995 after dethroning his father-in-law and TDP founder NT Rama Rao. Since then, he has been unanimously elected as the party president. The anticipated anointment of Naidu's son and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh as the working president of the party did not happen, though several party leaders including TDP state unit president Palla Srinivasa Rao, politburo member Kalva Srinivasulu, Union minister K Rammohan Naidu and state finance minister Payyavula Kesav, who spoke at Mahanadu, requested that Lokesh be entrusted with the responsibilities of the TDP working president. Senior party leader and former minister Dhulipalla Narendra said a resolution was passed at the Mini Mahanadu held by the Guntur district unit of the TDP, requesting that Lokesh be made the party working president. 'We have given a copy of the resolution to Naidu and asked him to delegate the key responsibilities to Lokesh,' he said. Kesav said it is a necessity that Lokesh should be made the TDP working president. 'He is a unanimous choice of every party leader and worker for the post,' he said. 'NDA will retain power in 2029' Addressing the party workers at Mahanadu earlier, the chief minister explained at length how the TDP could come back to power in Andhra Pradesh in the May 2024 elections by joining hands with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a huge mandate. 'The people of the state have delivered an unprecedented verdict in history in favour of the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance. The alliance created a massive wave by achieving a 94% success rate in the elections which is a rare feat in the country's political history. With 57% of the votes, the people blessed the alliance,' he said. The chief minister said the alliance would stay united for a bigger victory in the 2029 polls. 'The responsibility of gaining a bigger victory in the 2029 polls than the 2024 majority is on all of you. You have to express your approval and joy over this,' he said. The political resolution adopted at the Mahanadu thanked all sections of the people, including NRIs from different parts of the world and Telugu voters staying outside Andhra Pradesh, who had voted for the alliance in a big way. The resolution said the TDP was committed to the ideals of party founder NT Rama Rao and highlighted four decades of political legacy, governance reforms, and renewed pledges for inclusive development under the leadership of Naidu. The resolution outlined the party's journey from its inception in 1982 — born out of a movement to restore Telugu self-respect — to its transformative role in welfare governance and national politics. The Mahanadu concluded with a call for party workers to and work for the implementation of its six-point agenda: Cadre as leader, youth empowerment, social justice, women's welfare, farmer support, and global Telugu identity.

‘Even a palm can be a weapon'
Dharmavaram: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) showcased its strength at the Mini Mahanadu in Dharmavaram, led by TDP in-charge Paritala Sriram. A grand rally from NTR Circle to Maruti Raghavendra Swamy Kalyana Mandapam marked the event, drawing enthusiastic crowds and key leaders including Parliament President Anjanappa. Sriram was greeted with giant garlands and loud cheers. The event began with tributes to NTR and Paritala Ravi, and homage to Pulwama martyrs. In a powerful speech, Sriram declared, 'When war is inevitable, even a bare palm becomes a weapon,' igniting loud applause. He stressed that his mission was never about personal power. 'We didn't fight to become MLAs; we worked to free people from YSRCP's grip,' he said, urging supporters not to be misled by distractions and promising better days ahead. Taking a veiled swipe at rivals, he remarked, 'Some act innocent while deceiving people. We won't forget them.' Sriram emphasized grassroots leadership, asking village leaders to serve boldly. 'Let's move forward with Paritala Ravi's inspiration. I never forget those who stood by me,' he said. Reassuring the cadre, he promised support regardless of circumstances and encouraged them to ignore criticism and be fearless. He warned the ruling YSRCP to accept constructive suggestions or face resistance. Sriram also congratulated MLA Balakrishna on the Padma Bhushan and urged strong turnout at the upcoming Mini Mahanadu in Kadapa. Dismay over ‘unfair treatment' in alliance dynamics
Rajamahendravaram: As the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) prepares for its upcoming Mahanadu in Kadapa district, discontent is surfacing among senior leaders over what they describe as 'unfair treatment' under the pretext of the party's alliances. During the district and constituency-level Mini Mahanadu meetings being held ahead of the main event, several long-standing TDP leaders have voiced their frustrations openly from the stage. Senior leaders allege that party veterans who have carried the TDP flag since its inception are being sidelined without due recognition. They warned that continued negligence towards grassroots cadres and senior workers could damage the party's long-term prospects. A key grievance raised was that in the seat-sharing arrangement with alliance partners Jana Sena and BJP. Many TDP strongholds, both Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies, were allocated to the allies. Some leaders of TDP say that those parties are allegedly attempting to dismantle TDP's organisational structure in those areas. In the Kakinada district, TDP leaders criticised Jana Sena candidates for disregarding the efforts of TDP workers who contributed significantly to their electoral victories. At the Mini Mahanadu meetings held in Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada, several leaders echoed this sentiment. In the Kakinada session, Jaggampeta MLA Jyothula Nehru expressed his disappointment, stating that a review of the posts allocated in the district would reveal which party suffered injustice. He questioned how one leader could receive two positions, allegedly referring to a Jana Sena member, while Minister Lokesh insisted on one post per person. Nehru warned that such decisions were fuelling dissatisfaction and demoralisation among TDP ranks. Kakinada TDP president Jyothula Naveen also sparked controversy by criticising the party for not appointing an in-charge for the Kakinada Rural constituency. He asserted that the TDP cadre was primarily responsible for the Jana Sena's significant victory margin there. In Rajamahendravaram, tensions rose after the absence of senior TDP leader and Politburo member Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary's photo on a party flexi banner during the Mini Mahanadu event. His supporters strongly objected, calling it a clear act of disrespect towards a leader who has been with the party since its inception. The matter was settled only after a new flexi featuring Butchaiah's image was put up. These public displays of frustration point to deepening cracks within the party cadre, particularly over seat-sharing and post-sharing dynamics and internal recognition.

TDP leaders accuse YSRCP of putting spokes in development of AP at Nellore Mini Mahanadu
The Telugu Desam Party leaders called upon the public to strengthen the government in the State to eliminate the Opposition party permanently. Speaking at the Mini Mahanadu held at Nellore Parliamentary Constituency level on Friday, the leaders flayed the Opposition for not playing its role responsibly and instead trying to hamper development with its false narratives. Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy gave a clarion call to the public to shun the 'negative minded' Opposition party and instead stand by the government that considers development and welfare as its two eyes. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana also participated in the programme. The MP appealed to the cadre to get their grievances redressed at internal forums and urged them not to rattle the 'TDP family', while calling upon the party functionaries at various levels to stage a united fight against the Opposition. Mr. Narayana recalled the sufferings of the party cadre at the hands of the erstwhile ruling party and promised due recognition to the party workers. 'We have shown the door to the party (YSRCP) that has taken the public for granted and ignored development. Now, let us completely throw them out and strengthen the hands of the TDP that focuses on both welfare and development', Mr. Narayana said. Echoing a similar viewpoint, Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy accused former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of telling 'lies' in press conferences and trying to hoodwink the public. He said the Opposition party deserved to be dumped for a lifetime as it failed to learn its lessons and instead is putting spokes in the development of the State. Coming down heavily on the YSRCP for trying to cast aspersions on the ruling party, former minister and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said the 2029 elections would be the last nail on the Opposition party's coffin and permanently seal its fate. Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy maintained that only the TDP stood for public welfare and channelised all its efforts in ensuring all the benefits reached the marginalised sections of the society. Announcing the resolutions passed at the meeting, party's Nellore Parliamentary Constituency president and AP Waqf Board Chairman Abdul Aziz called upon the party workers to make the Kadapa Mahanadu a grand success. It may be noted here that the undivided Nellore district, which gave all the ten seats to YSRCP in the 2019 elections, took a complete u-turn in the 2024 general elections and went in favour of the NDA alliance candidates. In fact, the district attracted the attention of poll pundits for this unique feature, as no other district featured a 360 degree turn in southern Andhra Pradesh.
