List Achievements, Ministers Told As Modi Government Completes 11 Years
New Delhi: The Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will focus on another performance review as it completes 11 years in power and one year of Modi 3.0 on June 9. Sources said all ministries have been instructed to submit a detailed report of their achievements. This would include a review of the past year as well as the full eleven-year term. These reports will be compiled and submitted to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, which will create a booklet highlighting the achievements, sources said. The government will also make an all-out effort to reach out to the people. The key outreach efforts, sources said, would include comparison between the past and present to showcase progress, promotion of achievements on social media by all ministries. To spread the message, the government will reach out through newspaper articles and media conferences. The government will also hold special programs on key dates. The schedule is: June 5: World Environment Day June 9: One year of Modi 3.0 June 21: International Yoga Day June 25: 50 years since the Emergency The complete blueprint was discussed in detail at yesterday's cabinet meeting. BJP chief JP Nadda also held a video conference with all party MPs to outline the upcoming public engagement programmes. Speaking ahead of the government's 10th anniversary last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said, "For us, the development projects are not to form government, but to form a Viksit Bharat. Our future generations should not face the struggles which were faced by us".

Offshore betting ads top complaints to ASCI in 2024–25
Advertisements promoting offshore betting and gambling platforms constituted the largest share of complaints received by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) in 2024–25, the self-regulatory body said in its Annual Complaints Report. Of the 7,078 advertisements reviewed by ASCI, 43.52% — or over 3,000 — were related to offshore betting and gambling. These platforms, routinely banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, have witnessed rapid proliferation online, prompting concerns among stakeholders in the real money gaming (RMG) sector. 'ASCI has been escalating advertisements that are prohibited by law to appropriate regulators for appropriate action,' the report noted. The number of such advertisements increased from 2,707 in 2023–24 to 3,347 in the past year. These include promotions related to betting and gambling, prohibited drugs making magic health claims, alcohol, and tobacco. The volume of gambling-related advertisements has more than doubled, ASCI said, 'from 1,311 the previous year to 3,081 cases this year.' Several of these were flagged in collaboration with RMG industry associations, which established a 'special monitoring unit' in January 2025 to aid detection. ASCI also reported continued cooperation with sector-specific regulators. A similar monitoring arrangement with MahaRERA, Maharashtra's real estate regulatory authority, resulted in the identification of 1,755 non-compliant advertisements in the real estate sector. The second-largest category of flagged advertisements was submitted to the Ministry of AYUSH under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. ASCI reported 233 ads promoting products as miracle cures in violation of the Act. 'Twenty-one ads directly promoting alcoholic beverages on social media were reported to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting,' the report added. Influencer marketing also remained a significant area of concern. ASCI said it investigated 1,015 ads by influencers over the year. 'Out of 100 influencer posts reviewed, only 29% had proper disclosures, while 2% cases were dismissed due to evidence of no material connection,' the body said. 'Alarmingly, 69% violated disclosure norms, with 56.8% lacking disclosure labels entirely and 43.2% having disclosures improperly placed within hashtags.' While 59 influencers agreed to corrections voluntarily, five complied after jury recommendations. Another five influencers (7%) were escalated to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for continued non-compliance. The fashion and lifestyle (27.5%), telecom products (21.7%), and personal care (13%) sectors accounted for 62% of all influencer-related violations, ASCI said.

Cannes: Karan Johar recalls his first film, Shah Rukh and Aishwarya at fest
Bollywood multi-hyphenate Karan Johar is looking back at his association with the Cannes Film Festival. The filmmaker recently attended a special session at the Bharat Pavilion in the Cannes Film Festival where he spoke about his history at the festival. He spoke about visiting the Cannes Film Festival for the first time with his father Yash Johar, and how they made a start at the prestigious film festival with their film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' which was sold for $5,000 at the Cannes Film Market. Karan, whose production 'Homebound' has been selected in the Un Certain Regard segment at Cannes, said, "I have a lot of emotional memories related to Cannes. I remember the year 2002, when my father and I were here at the Cannes market'. KJo remembered his father striking a deal, which he thought at that time was quite less. "I told him, 'This seems like it's really not of any consequence'. Because I remember he sold the European rights of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' for $5,000. He said, "I remember it began in the year 2002, it was also the year that 'Devdas' had a beautiful screening, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh were on the red carpet. And Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is literally the queen of Cannes. Like, every time she's here, she creates such a huge amount of media energy and excitement. And she's here again. So it's just wonderful that I remember that so clearly." Bharat Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival saw a series of interesting sessions around cinema today. The Bharat Pavilion has been organised by NFDC and FICCI under the aegis of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. "Then I came back to the capacity of a filmmaker, when we were selected the director's fortnight in 2013, for the anthology, Bombay Talkies, with Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Divakar Banerjee, myself. And it was that particular year that I met Guneet Monga. And, you know, I saw 'The Lunchbox', which was actually doing so phenomenally and getting so much love. "Operation Sindoor is a proud moment for our country," says Dalip Tahil
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 21 (ANI): Actor Dalip Tahil praised the Indian armed forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor. In a conversation with ANI, he shared, 'First of all, I would like to offer my condolences to the people who died in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Operation Sindoor is a proud moment for our country, our people and India.' He lauded the government, saying, 'It is because our government has shown courage this time. In the last terrorist attack in Mumbai on 26th November 2008, our people, especially the police officers and the young police officers, were killed. Even then, the government did not respond. It is not that our army did not have the strength. The only difference was that the government did not have the courage. This time, the government has shown courage and has given permission to the army. And we are seeing its impact in Operation Sindoor. And the credit for this goes to our respected Prime Minister, Narendra Damodardas Modi.' On talking about the Instagram accounts of Pakistani actors being blocked in the country, he shared, 'The situation is such that it is obvious that it is not possible for them to come and work here.' However, he emphasised, 'But where there is an exchange of artists, I think it should always be there. And there should be a cultural exchange. But for that, an environment is also needed. I also believe that it is not that, no matter what they do, we should continue to increase our relationships. So, for now, we fully support the government's decision. And until this situation is resolved, and the Pakistan government and its army do not understand that they cannot terrorise, till then this distance will remain in the relationship, and it should remain.' Meanwhile, Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, showcased a calibrated, tri-services response that embodied precision, professionalism, and purpose. Operation Sindoor was conceived as a punitive and targeted campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan, as per the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting press release. Multi-agency intelligence provided confirmation of nine major camps that were eventually targeted in the operation. India's retaliatory action was based on meticulous planning and an intelligence-led approach, which ensured that the operations were conducted with minimal collateral damage. Operational ethics were central to the mission, and restraint was exercised to avoid civilian harm, as per the press release. In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan initiated a series of retaliatory drone and UCAV attacks targeting key Indian airbases and logistics infrastructure. These attempts, however, were effectively neutralised by India's comprehensive and multi-layered air defence architecture. Central to this success was the Integrated Command and Control Strategy (ICCS), which facilitated real-time threat identification, assessment, and interception across multiple domains. In every single domain of Operation Sindoor there was operational synergy between the forces and fully supported by the Government, agencies and departments. VMPL Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 21: In the cool spring breeze of the French Riviera, on the cobbled streets of Cannes, as the spotlight lit up the Bharat Pavilion at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, a quiet, proud moment unfolded for every Odia around the world. The first look of Baghuni (Dance Like a Tiger) -- a pathbreaking Odia film -- was unveiled, etching a historic moment for the language and culture that has so far remained underrepresented in global cinema. But behind this cinematic milestone lies the inspiring journey of Partha Sarathi Panda, a soft-spoken yet determined cultural ambassador, who hails from Odisha and now lives in Gravesend, Kent, in the United Kingdom. It is his vision, effort, and relentless drive to promote Odia identity that has led to this cultural leap -- from Bhubaneswar to London, and now, to Cannes. A Dream Rooted in Identity For Mr. Panda, Baghuni is not just a film -- it is the manifestation of a long-cherished dream. Over the past decade, he has dedicated himself to the promotion of Odia language, literature, arts, and heritage in the UK. As the Director of Odisha Society of the United Kingdom (OSUK), he has curated festivals, language workshops, trade forums, and tourism drives. But cinema, he believed, could be the most powerful vehicle yet. "Cinema has a soul that speaks beyond borders," Mr. Panda says. "I wanted to create something that would carry the spirit of Odisha into the hearts of people far beyond our land." It was this conviction that inspired him to set up Glocal Films UK Limited, a production house with an international outlook but rooted in regional ethos. Through a close collaboration with NFDC India and Cinema4Good Pvt. Ltd., the seeds of Baghuni were sown. The Moment at Cannes On 15th May 2025, amidst a room full of international filmmakers, media, and Indian dignitaries, the first look of Baghuni was unveiled at the Bharat Pavilion at 78th Cannes Film Festival, curated by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India in collaboration with FICCI and NFDC. The event was graced by celebrated names including filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, National award-winning filmmaker Ms Rima Das, Mr Sreerag M, OSD(Films), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, Mr Gautam Bhanot GM - Film Promotions and International Participation, NFDC, Ms Vineeta Mishra, Head of Programming, NFDC FilmBazaar among others. The unveiling wasn't just the launch of a film poster -- it was the announcement of a cultural resurgence. Written & directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Jitendra Mishra Baghuni is the first international co-production from Odisha, featuring celebrated Odia actor Sabyasachi Mishra as lead actor, and boasts a talented crew that includes multiple National Award-winning industry professionals. Subash Sahoo as sound designer, Sukant Panigrahy as production designer, and Prem Anand as the music director. The script is written by National Award-winning filmmaker Shankhajeet De, Dr. Sulagna Mohany. Multiple National Award-winning filmmaker Utpal Borpujari is the script consultant whereas Dialogue is written by acclaimed filmmaker Susanta Mani. Baghuni will be produced in Odia, Sambalpuri, Koshli, Hindi, and other languages to reach both regional and international audiences. It will feature a mix of local Odia artists and international technicians, thereby creating a genuine Indo-UK collaboration in both creative and production processes. Cultural Diplomacy Through Cinema For the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Baghuni marks a significant return to Odisha after more than two decades, rekindling its engagement with the region's vibrant cinematic potential. Reflecting on this milestone, NFDC Managing Director Prakash Magdum stated: "Baghuni is a culturally rich and globally resonant story. It is our honour to support this Indo-UK partnership and take Odisha's unique voice to the world." A compelling narrative cantered on themes of resistance, resilience, and the courage to confront deeply ingrained societal norms, Baghuni was selected for the prestigious Film Bazaar 2023 -- a flagship co-production market hosted alongside the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
