Phones of all MLAs, MPs of Telangana tapped by private hackers at CM's behest, allege BRS leaders

HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is getting the phones of 118 MLAs, 40 MLCs and 23 MPs and other leaders of the State as also the celebrities in different fields tapped with the help of private hackers with ulterior motives. Even the phones of those who had come to participate in the Miss World Pageant were tapped, BRS MLAs MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr. K. Sanjay said, addressing a press conference here on Friday. Stating that Mr. Revanth Reddy himself had said in an informal chat with newspersons in New Delhi on Thursday that phone tapping would be done by the police officials, they said he had also admitted before his Cabinet colleagues that phone tapping was being done as it was required to know what was going on as the head of the government. Demanding CBI and ED inquiries into phone tapping being done at the behest of the Chief Minister, the BRS leaders sought to know why Mr. Revanth Reddy had been indulging in mudslinging in the name of phone tapping on KCR (former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao), KTR (K.T. Rama Rao) and T. Harish Rao, who had never indulged in phone tapping. Mr. Kaushik Reddy alleged that he had complained to the police on December 5 last that his and his wife's phones were being tapped, but no case had been registered so far.

KTR pitches for thorough investigation into safety lapses

Hyderabad: Attacking the government over its alleged failure to take up rescue measures at the blast site at Pashamylaram in Sangareddy district, the BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday said that if it was the Miss World Pageant, all the Congress Ministers led by CM would have been happy to camp there. Taking to X, Rama Rao said that more than 12 people died and many others critically injured but not one Telangana Minister showed up till now. 'It has been team BRS led by Former Minister Harish and Sangareddy MLA Chinta Prabhakar and Zahirabad MLA Manik Rao who've been working hard to ensure the workers are taken care and their families are being treated well. If this was the Miss World pageant, I am sure all Congress Ministers led by CM would've been happy to camp there,' he said. Rama Rao said that the reactor explosion in the Pashamilaram industrial area in Patancheru was extremely tragic. KTR expressed concern over the news that the death toll was likely to rise. He appealed to the government to ensure that all the injured get the best medical assistance. Saying that safety audits were mandatory for all industrial units, KTR demanded that the government conduct a thorough investigation into the safety lapses in this accident. He wanted those responsible for the deaths to be severely punished. He suggested that the families of the deceased be financially supported. He expressed his deepest sympathies to the family members of the deceased, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Awards for actors, rewards for CM

Call it a well-thought-out strategy or just a coincidence, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy seems to have hit multiple birds with one stone with the conduct of the inaugural Gaddar Awards. A rousing performance by a host of musicians, rendering the state song 'Jaya Jayahe Telangana' not only led to the Revanth government going one better than the previous BRS regime, but also helped it connect with all sections of the people with Telangana sentiment. Incidentally, it is the second official programme in recent times to feature the state song, the other being the Miss World Pageant. It is not just Telangana pride, the CM also appeared to have derived some mileage by personally presenting some of the awards to the winners in various categories during the gala night. The event came at a rather interesting time — not long after the demolition of Nagarjuna's N-Convention and Allu Arjun's arrest following the Sandhya Theatre stampede. And while all this played out under the spotlight, the BRS camp curiously chose silence, offering no comment on the awards or the selection process.

Miss World contestants sing paeans to Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday called upon the Miss World 2025 contestants to go back to their countries as cultural ambassadors of Telangana. The Governor was speaking during the felicitation of the Miss World Pageant winners at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. Congratulating the winners, Jishnu Dev Varma said that the Miss World contestants may have come here for beauty pageant but they would go back as cultural ambassadors of Telangana. The Governor said that India was not only the Union of States but it was the Union of Hearts. 'I see three or four milestones of Viksit Bharat in Telangana. There is a feeling of oneness in Telangana. This is a mixture of progress and heritage (Vikas and Virasad). We have state formation Day today and people from different states live here. I meet North East people more than what I meet them in the North East. Telangana is a state that is rich in history, resolute in progress, accommodated and inclusive. There are no insiders outsiders here and everyone feels that they belong here,' said Jishnu Dev Varma. Referring to the plates in which food was served, the Governor said that these plates were made with love and care from the tribal villages. He said one should think globally and act locally. Environment is a global cause and these plates are symbols of concern for the environment, care of the environment and love for people living in tribal areas, he added. The Governor said that Telangana is vibrant, progressive, and concerned about heritage. 'We have never spoken of uniform Bharat, we have said United Bharat – When we say Ek Bharat, we need a united Bharat. United Bharat is progressive Bharat,' said the Governor. Miss World 2025 Opal Sucheta said that Telangana is a combination of culture, progress and innovation. It is a place where there is beauty in everything – whether it's people, places or food. It is also a place where world class medical innovation and technology really transform the lives of the people. 'Telangana is really close to my heart. I share my deepest gratitude and this is one of the best months of our lives. We will place these memories in our hearts,' said Opal Sucheta. Miss Ethiopia Hasset Dereje thanked for the family feeling she had in Telangana as she said that she felt like her home. Miss America Jessica Pedroso said she learned something special here in Telangana and that was, 'Despite being different, we can be united'. Miss World Caribbean Aurelie Joachim said she felt connected to Telangana. Miss World Osiana Jasmine Stringer said that the hospitality was absolutely incredible.

Warangal spruced up for contestants' visit

Warangal: Warangal Fort, Thousand Pillars Shrine, and Ramappa Temple, all decked up for the visit of the 72nd Miss World Beauty Pageant contestants on May 14. All three sites boast glittering looks that reflect the culture and heritage of the Kakatiyas. The government predicts that the pageant could draw international attention, thereby developing the tourism economy. It may be noted here that the Miss World Pageant has already begun in Hyderabad on Saturday. The organisers split the Miss World contestants into two teams – one of them is to visit the Thousand Pillars Temple and Fort; the other team will head to Palampet in Mulugu district to visit the UNESCO Heritage Site – Ramappa Temple, an 800-year-old architectural marvel. The organisers arranged cultural activities by the Adivasis who are densely populated in the district. After watching the Perini dance at Ramappa Temple, the contestants would return to Warangal before proceeding to Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the district administration and the police have made elaborate arrangements for the safety and security of visitors. The forest wing officials have taken measures to avoid menace from monkeys, honeybees, and snakes to the visitors. The authorities deployed 1,000 policemen and banned the flying of drones in Ramappa. The authorities arranged guides from Hyderabad to explain the sculptural elegance of the temples to the visitors.
