Police seek boy struck by car while riding e-scooter in Mission, B.C., Monday
Mounties says DNA testing has confirmed remains that washed ashore in Washington State nearly 17 years ago are those of a teenager who went missing from Mission, B.C., in 2007. The RCMP logo is seen in Surrey, B.C., on Thursday, March 16, 2023. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Police are hoping to identify and ensure the welfare of a boy who was struck by a car while riding his e-scooter in Mission, B.C., Monday morning. The boy had been travelling on the sidewalk when he collided with a driver turning into the parking lot of Mission Secondary School around 8:30 a.m., Mission RCMP said in a statement. While the driver remained at the scene and spoke with police, the boy left before he could be identified. 'The boy reportedly struck the hood area of the car and flew a considerable distance off his scooter, but got up on his own and carried on his way,' the statement said. Officers have contacted various local elementary and middle schools to identify the boy, described by police as being 12 to 14 years old and wearing a grey or black hoodie with red writing on it, but have so far been unsuccessful. Parents whose child meets this description are advised to check whether the boy needs medical attention, before contacting the Mission RCMP with information regarding the incident. 'Police want to ensure he is OK, and to get more information from him about what happened,' Mounties said. Parents or any other witnesses with information relating to the event are asked to contact police at 604-826-7161, and quote file number 25-6339.

Teenager stabbed during altercation in Mission, B.C.
An RCMP vehicle is seen in this file photo. Mounties in Mission, B.C., say a teenage boy was hospitalized after being stabbed during an altercation in a residential area Friday. The detachment says officers were called to Alder Street near 1st Avenue around 9:30 p.m. for a reported stabbing involving a group of youth. They arrived to find a 17-year-old suffering from 'an injury consistent with a sharp-edged weapon.' Police described his injury as serious, but not life-threatening. The next day, Mounties arrested an 18-year-old man for aggravated assault and searched an 'associated' vehicle and home. 'Mission RCMP's Serious Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the matter, and do not believe that this was a random attack, or that members of the general public are at risk,' reads a news release issued Tuesday. 'Investigators are asking for any witnesses or any other youth who were present during the incident who have not yet spoken with police to contact Mission RCMP as soon as possible.' The detachment also asked residents along Alder Street between 1st and 7th avenues who may have security video to call 604-826-7161.
