Police seek boy struck by car while riding e-scooter in Mission, B.C., Monday

Police are hoping to identify and ensure the welfare of a boy who was struck by a car while riding his e-scooter in Mission, B.C., Monday morning.
The boy had been travelling on the sidewalk when he collided with a driver turning into the parking lot of Mission Secondary School around 8:30 a.m., Mission RCMP said in a statement. While the driver remained at the scene and spoke with police, the boy left before he could be identified.
'The boy reportedly struck the hood area of the car and flew a considerable distance off his scooter, but got up on his own and carried on his way,' the statement said.
Officers have contacted various local elementary and middle schools to identify the boy, described by police as being 12 to 14 years old and wearing a grey or black hoodie with red writing on it, but have so far been unsuccessful.
Parents whose child meets this description are advised to check whether the boy needs medical attention, before contacting the Mission RCMP with information regarding the incident.
'Police want to ensure he is OK, and to get more information from him about what happened,' Mounties said.

Toronto police speak to reporters about what happened and the latest details regarding the victim and suspect(s) who fled. A police investigation is underway after a 15-year-old boy died following a late-night shooting in Toronto's west end, say police. Toronto police say they responded to reports that a male had been shot in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood, near Emmett Avenue and Jane Street, just after 10 p.m. on Saturday. They say when officers arrived they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The teen, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced deceased. He is Toronto's 14th homicide victim of the year. The suspect, meanwhile, fled the area before police arrived there. Police have not provided a descrition of the suspect at this point. Det. Phillip Campbell told reporters at a news conference Sunday afternoon. 'What I can tell you is that the victim is a male in his teens.' Campbell said officers remain on scene canvassing for video, speaking with witnesses, and gathering evidence. The crime scene spans several residential blocks and includes York Humber High School. One person from the area told CTV News Toronto that they heard five gunshots. Another man said the shooting happened right outside his home near Jane Street and Weston Road. 'I (saw) some people screaming and running away,' he said. 'It was heartbreaking to see, (in) this area, never seen this before. Young people shooting rounds is terrible. (I'm) sorry for their families.' Local crime prevention advocate Sharon Joseph says more needs to be done to stop gun violence, especially involving young people. 'We need to have more mentorship for these young people. We know that there is a crisis but we only come when the crisis is happening, when it's active,' she said. 'After the crisis everybody (goes) back to normalcy, normal life.' 2 men killed in boating accident on Sturgeon Lake: OPP
Two men are dead following a boating accident on Sturgeon lake on June 8. (OPP photo) Two men are dead following a boating accident in the Kawartha Lakes region on Sunday afternoon. The incident happened on Sturgeon Lake, which is roughly 155 kilometres northeast of Toronto. Emergency responders were called to that area shortly after 3 p.m. after receiving reports of a canoe carrying three males that had capsized. In a news release, the OPP's Kawartha Lakes Detachment said one of the males was able to make his way to the shore, however two others were 'unable to remain afloat and succumbed to their injuries.' They added that there were no life jackets in the boat. The local OPP, including its Marine Unit, along with City of Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, and the OPP's Aviation team were involved in the lifesaving and recovery efforts. City of Kawartha Lakes OPP with Fire and EMS responded to a report of a marine vessel that had capsized. OPP Marine and OPP Aviation Units attended as well for rescue and recovery efforts.
