Bengals fans rave over Mitchell Tinsley's 2 TD preseason performance
The post Bengals fans rave over Mitchell Tinsley's 2 TD preseason performance appeared first on ClutchPoints. Did the Cincinnati Bengals discover a new weapon? Mitchell Tinsley emerged on Monday night in Washington D.C. Scoring twice on the Commanders during NFL Preseason action — and sparking lots of online reactions. The Bengals first made this statement with Tinsley: Unveiling him as a captain. He walked onto the FedEx Field grass ready to face the team that cut him last season. Tinsley then stretched his arms out and adjusted to this touchdown grab to put the Bengals ahead. But he wasn't through from there. Jake Browning found him again. Tinsley trusted his hops and hands to reel in touchdown No. 2. Tinsley pulled off both catches on a night Joe Burrow struggled with the Commanders' pass rush. But the 25-year-old sparked lots of national reactions for his breakout night. Notable reactions for Bengals' Mitchell Tinsley The 2023 undrafted rookie got targeted five times. He caught all five passes for 73 yards with the touchdowns. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter raved about Tinsley. 'Mitchell Tinsley earning a roster spot tonight,' Schefter posted on X (formerly Twitter). DraftKings even compared the Browning/Tinsley collaboration to this famed NFL duo from the late 2000s. But even Burrow himself got honest about Tinsley. Sharing this big statement with ESPN Monday Night Football sideline reporter Laura Rutledge. 'Hopefully he secured a [roster] spot,' Burrow began to Rutledge. 'That guy's been making plays all camp. He's a guy that you can count on. He's a smart guy and knows all the positions. A guy you can trust like that is very valuable.' The 6-foot-1, 205-pound wideout played three collegiate seasons for Western Kentucky and then Penn State. He lured in 87 catches for 1,402 yards and scored 14 touchdowns in 2021. He later transferred to the Nittany Lions — catching 51 passes for 577 yards and scoring five touchdowns in 2022. Tinsley even went the junior college route — playing for Hutchinson Community College in Kansas to begin his collegiate career. He landed at WKU during the truncated 2020 season. Again, he went undrafted in April 2024 before landing on the Commanders' practice squad following '24 NFL Training Camp. He signed a futures contract with the Bengals on Feb. 4. Now he put the league, and his former team, on notice by starring on MNF. ‘Baller' undrafted Bengals WR reacts to electric bid to make roster
The post 'Baller' undrafted Bengals WR reacts to electric bid to make roster appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Cincinnati Bengals dominated in their second preseason game of the year. Cincinnati defeated Washington 31-17 in a game that featured plenty of fireworks. One Bengals rookie was the star of the show, hauling in two touchdowns and leading the team in receiving yards. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor heaped praise on rookie UDFA Mitchell Tinsley after his big game. 'Baller,' Taylor said of Tinsley after the game, per Kevin Patra. 'Yeah, he just works hard. He's become a guy that everybody really respects in the locker room. I don't know that I've ever heard him speak. Maybe someone can get him tonight. He just goes out there and just works, and we respect that. And again, he created the opportunities for himself. He's done enough in practice to where we wanted to put him in positions to be at the point of attack when he was in the game there, and he rewarded himself with touchdowns and catches and extending drives and someone that's reliable for the quarterbacks in August. So just proud of him. This is the last team he was with, if I'm not mistaken, so probably a neat situation for him to come back on this field and do what he just did.' Tinsley finished the game with five receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns. He had more receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns than anyone else in the game. Could Mitchell Tinsley make the Bengals' final roster after his big game? Now the question becomes whether his strong performance was enough to earn a final roster spot. Tinsley acknowledged that he had a good game. But he is not letting the roster decision cloud his judgment. 'It's a step in the right direction, but for me, I try not to focus on all that,' Tinsley said after the game. 'For me, I know I put a lot of work in in the offseason and I put a lot of work into my craft. Really, it all just came down to me coming out here and executing.' Tinsley faces an uphill battle if he wants to make Cincinnati's initial 53-man roster. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are guaranteed to make the final roster. Andrei Iosivas and Jermaine Burton also feel like their jobs are safe. That puts Tinsley in competition with Charlie Jones, Isaiah Williams, and a host of other receivers. Tinsley will give himself a chance with another strong performance. Next up for the Bengals is their preseason finale against the Colts on August 23rd. Bengals HC Zac Taylor praises WR Mitchell Tinsley and aims for another preseason win to keep the momentum going
(Image via Getty: Mitchell Tinsley) Cincinnati Bengals' newest wide receiver, Mitchell Tinsley, has been making internet rounds ever since his breakout performance against his former team, the Washington Commanders. The 25-year-old wideout was signed by Washington in May 2023, but was waived in August 2024. Eventually, he joined their practice squad. The Cincinnati Bengals signed Tinsley only in February 2025. What happened next? He played against the Commanders and emerged as a knight in shining armor for the Bengals! Cincinnati's head coach Zac Taylor certainly looked surprised, calling the wide receiver a 'baller' and someone who 'just works hard.' Zac Taylor says Mitchell Tinsley is reliable for quarterbacks Mitchell Tinsley's breath-stopping catches shocked everyone! But in particular, to add insult to injury, they might have stunned(likely stung!) his former team! Addressing the worldwide awe, Zac Taylor praised his newest wideout at a post-game conference, 'Baller. Yeah, he just works hard. He's become a guy that everybody really respects in the locker room. I don't know that I've ever heard him speak. Maybe someone can get him tonight. He just goes out there and just works. And we respect that. He created the opportunities for himself. So just proud of him. This is the last team he was with, if I'm not mistaken, so probably a neat situation for him to come back on this field and do what he just did.' Zac Taylor wants one more win for the Cincinnati Bengals to end the preseason with a winning record After the thrilling first NFL preseason game win, when Zac Taylor entered the tired, wounded, and extremely elated locker room, he said, 'Okay, hey. Congrats on the win. It feels good to get it done. You guys worked hard for it. Defense, what I love, man–I know in the second half, you guys were tired. Okay, but you found ways with the 14-point lead to keep them out of the end zone–okay. Big stop. Big stop at the end. Gave the offense the ball back even though we didn't score as much second half offense. I love the way we control the ball. Ate up the clock. Moved it. There's some things we can improve, but overall, that's a great team win. A lot to learn from. Let's keep building on that. Let's get one more. End the preseason with a winning record. Have some momentum going in the regular season. Okay. Ted Karras, go ahead and educate everybody on what happens next. Where are you at, Ted?' The 32-year-old center for the Cincinnati Bengals, Ted Karras, echoed, 'Who Dey? Who Dey? Who Dey think gonna beat them Bengals? Who Dey? Who Dey? Who Dey think gonna beat them Bengals? Noooo–body!'
