Miu Miu Beauty is Back With Miutine Eau de Parfum, an Ode to Joyful Rebellion

Youthful irreverence in a bottle! Miutine Eau de Parfum marks a major moment for the spirited fashion house — a re-emergence of Miu Miu Beauty and a fresh license to spread its audacious wings into the fragrance world.
And this scent is no ordinary spritz, absolutely not just another set of pretty notes to simply dab on one's wrist. The elements of Miutine — the name of which is a play on the French word 'mutine,' meaning rebel — bring to life the very ethos of Miu Miu, and a rare opportunity to play by one's own rules. To capture the essence of this character who exudes a wide, knowing smile with a mischievous wink and nod, master perfumer Dominique Ropion put an iconic twist on a chypre composition of bright citrus, florals and an earthy patchouli base by adding a pop of wild strawberry and sumptuous brown sugar accords. The result: an unexpected, cheeky take on a traditional feminine fragrance. 'I started with a classic and I twisted it with a surprising resonance, a harmony of mischievous freshness and opulent sensuality,' she says.
When it came to sourcing notes, specifics were key. Ropion chose Mara des Bois strawberries, a unique variety available for harvest just once a year. The juicy, jammy flesh of these berries is renowned amongst the culinary set in Paris, often becoming the nectar of choice for fine French pastry chefs. 'The vibrancy and regressive aspect of wild strawberry brings a lively and cheerful dimension to the scent, evoking a sense of joy and spontaneity,' she says. Who better to bring the scent to life than boundary-breaking English actor Emma Corrin, the very embodiment of the Miu Miu vibe? In the campaign directed by filmmaker Hailey Benton Gates, they browse a towering bookshelf in a whimsical library, searching for the perfect word in a dictionary before landing on 'Miutine' and literally bringing the word to vivid reality. 'The scent represents all the aspects that I treasure and respect the most in myself and others; rebellion, expression, originality.
