Full-scale replica of Galeón Andalucía draws crowds in North Wales

The full-scale replica of a 17th-century Spanish galleon - used by the Spanish between the 16th and 18th centuries during maritime expeditions of discovery and inter-oceanic trade between Spain, the Americas, and the Philippines as part of the famed fleets of the Indies - will be in Caernarfon until June 8. (Image: Dewi Roberts) Dewi, of Menai Bridge, said: "We thought that the ship was awesome, the craftsmanship that had gone into building it, it was unlike anything we'd ever seen before. The bell served as a communication tool (Image: Dewi Roberts) "The staff were very friendly and there were lots of information sheets scattered around the ship. "It's not every day you get to see a ship like this, it was an awesome experience." People can explore its decks and meet the crew (Image: Dewi Roberts) Dewi shared photos of inside the vessel which boasts seven sails, measures 55 metres in length and has six decks constructed from iroko and pine wood.
