‘Last spoke at…': Daughter's emotional tribute to IAF officer killed in Pak shelling

Indian Air Force (IAF) sergeant Surendra Moga's daughter on Sunday gave an emotional tribute to her father, who was martyred in Pakistan's shelling in Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura sector on Saturday. Sergeant Moga's daughter, Vartika Moga, said that she was proud of her father for dying to defend the country. "I am feeling proud. My father was a very good man. I'm proud that he got martyred while killing the enemies and protecting the nation,' Vartika told the media. On being asked when she last spoke to sergeant Moga, his daughter said it was last night at around 9 pm. 'Last time, we talked to him at 9 PM last night, and he said that drones are roaming but not attacking,' she said. Vartika said that she wants to become a soldier like her dad when she grows up to avenge his death from the neighbouring country. 'Pakistan should be finished entirely. There shouldn't even be a mention of Pakistan. I want to become a soldier like my father and avenge his death. I will finish them off one by one," she said. Sergeant Surendra Moga's mortal remains were brought to his native Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan on Sunday for his last rites with full state honours. India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire understanding on Saturday, agreeing to cease hostilities after days in the aftermath of New Delhi's Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the Punjab province. Foreign secretary Vikram Misri said that the ceasefire understanding was effective from Saturday, 5 PM IST. But Pakistan went on to violate the understanding by shelling along the LoC and drone activities from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat, the entirety of the International land border between both countries. The authorities have said that the situation was under control by Sunday morning and the hostilities had ceased. But the armed forces remain vigilant and have the order to deal with any violations in a befitting manner.

IAF Sergeant, BSF Sub-Inspector martyred in cross-border firing by Pakistan in Jammu

New Delhi: Two Indian Armed forces personnel were martyred, one Indian Air Force officer, and other a BSF Sub-Inspector while seven others from his unit were injured in the past 24 hours amid intensified shelling and drone attacks by Pakistani forces across the Jammu region. Sergeant Surendra Kumar Moga, a 36-year-old medical assistant attached with IAF's 36 Wing, was killed in a Pakistani strike while stationed in J&K's Udhampur. Originally posted in Bengaluru, he had been redeployed to Udhampur just four days ago due to escalating tensions with Pakistan. Moga's family in Mehradasi village of Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu was informed on Saturday. He is survived by his 65-year-old mother Nanu Devi, wife Seema, and two children. Villagers gathered to mourn as preparations began for a state funeral. He is a native of Mandawa in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu. Jhunjhunu District Collector, Ramavatar Meena, said, "Surendra Kumar Moga had been posted at the 39th wing of the IAF at the Udhampur airbase. He was killed during a Pakistani attack early Saturday morning at the airbase. Upon receiving the information in the morning, the district police superintendent Sharad Chaudhary and I visited his family and informed them about the news." District Collector Meena said that Moga's body will be brought to Jhunjhunu by Sunday evening. Expressing his condolences to the family, the Collector said, "We have also spoken to the family and assured them of providing necessary aides and other financial support to his family members." Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imtiaz was killed when his BSF unit positioned along the International Border in RS Pura sector came under heavy Pakistani firing. "He, along with seven others, were wounded. While Imtiaz died of wounds, the others are stable and under treatment at a health facility," a BSF official said. Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, a JCO from Himachal, died Saturday morning when an artillery shell exploded near his post in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch. Rifleman Sunil Kumar, 25, of J&K Light Infantry, died of wounds suffered during overnight gunfire and shelling in RS Pura sector. India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announcing that the Directors General of military operations of both countries had decided to stop all firings and military action on land, air and sea with effect from 5 p.m. on Saturday. India said late Saturday that Pakistan violated the understanding reached between DGMOs of the two countries earlier in the day on stoppage of firing and military action and that the Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with the border intrusions. At a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Misri said this is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier on Saturday afternoon and India takes "very serious note of these violations". India called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The Foreign Secretary said India's Armed Forces have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the border along the International Border as well as the Line of Control. "Indian soldiers are carrying out retaliatory action and responding to this border intrusion. This aggression is highly condemnable, and Pakistan is responsible for it. We believe that Pakistan must understand the gravity of the situation and take immediate and appropriate action to stop this aggression," Foreign Secretary Misri added. The Army, he said, is keeping a close watch on the situation and has been instructed to take firm and strong measures to deal with any incursion.

Oregon QB Luke Moga earns Ducks Wire MVP honors in 2025 Spring game

Oregon QB Luke Moga earns Ducks Wire MVP honors in 2025 Spring game Spring games in college football are a great way for young players and transfers to impress the coaching staff. The Oregon Ducks held their annual spring game Saturday afternoon where a bunch of players flashed off the screen. However, there can only be one MVP and that honor goes to quarterback Luke Moga. The redshirt freshman showed incredible poise in the pocket, standing tall and completing 6/13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown against a fierce pass rush while also encountering some drops. When blitzes were thrown his way, Moga displayed amazing mobility by scrambling outside the pocket and breaking down the defense. Moga had two carries for 11 yards, but arguably his best play of the day was one that did not even count. In the second quarter there was quick pressure up the middle of the offensive line which forced the young quarterback to take off up the middle. To prevent injuries in an exhibition setting, plays are blown dead once the defense lays a hand on the quarterback. The whistle sounded as Moga was already bursting through the line of scrimmage and if the play occurred during the season, it likely would have resulted in a touchdown or at the very least a huge gain. Moga also showed off an impressive deep ball and though they did not all connect, he had great touch and length on the throws. There was a jaw-dropping throw he made to wide receiver Dillon Gresham over the middle for a 56-yard touchdown. All in all, Moga had a great game, and showed that he definitely has a hand to play in the quarterback competition for the Ducks this offseason.
