Oregon QB Luke Moga earns Ducks Wire MVP honors in 2025 Spring game
Spring games in college football are a great way for young players and transfers to impress the coaching staff. The Oregon Ducks held their annual spring game Saturday afternoon where a bunch of players flashed off the screen. However, there can only be one MVP and that honor goes to quarterback Luke Moga.
The redshirt freshman showed incredible poise in the pocket, standing tall and completing 6/13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown against a fierce pass rush while also encountering some drops.
When blitzes were thrown his way, Moga displayed amazing mobility by scrambling outside the pocket and breaking down the defense.
Moga had two carries for 11 yards, but arguably his best play of the day was one that did not even count. In the second quarter there was quick pressure up the middle of the offensive line which forced the young quarterback to take off up the middle. To prevent injuries in an exhibition setting, plays are blown dead once the defense lays a hand on the quarterback.
The whistle sounded as Moga was already bursting through the line of scrimmage and if the play occurred during the season, it likely would have resulted in a touchdown or at the very least a huge gain.
Moga also showed off an impressive deep ball and though they did not all connect, he had great touch and length on the throws. There was a jaw-dropping throw he made to wide receiver Dillon Gresham over the middle for a 56-yard touchdown.
All in all, Moga had a great game, and showed that he definitely has a hand to play in the quarterback competition for the Ducks this offseason.

Oregon football picks up prediction to land fast-rising QB in 2026 class
Oregon football picks up prediction to land fast-rising QB in 2026 class Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are gearing up for what looks like an eventful summer of recruiting, with a potential hot streak not far off. With a number of 5-star and blue-chip prospects on campus this month for official visits, Oregon is in line to boost its 2026 class majorly. On Monday, they saw a prediction come in for them to get a valuable member of the class, too — fast-rising quarterback prospect Bryson Beaver. Few players in the nation have had as busy of a week in the recruiting world as Beaver, who was committed to the Boise State Broncos as a 3-star less than a week ago. However, Oregon offered him last week, and he has since seen his rating bump up to a 4-star on On3, received offers from a pair of SEC schools, and taken visits to the Ole Miss Rebels and Alabama Crimson Tide. It came out on Monday that Beaver was taking an official visit to Oregon this coming weekend, and 247Sports recruiting analyst Blair Angulo also logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Beaver to commit to the Ducks. Beaver's rating on 247Sports is far below where On3 has him, leading to some debate about where he currently stands in the recruiting world. While On3 rates Beaver as a 4-star prospect and the No. 19 QB in the 2026 class, 247Sports has him as a 3-star and the No. 71 QB in the class. Regardless of what the ratings say, Oregon is obviously intrigued by what Beaver brings to the table, and they want him as a member of their 2026 class. The Ducks are also in on 5-star QB Ryder Lyons, who took an official to Eugene last weekend. Lyons is going to decide between Oregon and the BYU Cougars in the near future, but he is planning to take an LDS mission out of high school, so he is more like a member of the 2027 class. 5-star Oregon Football target teases major news
5-star Oregon Football target teases major news The Oregon Ducks could be getting some major recruiting news in the near future. On Friday morning, 5-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, one of the top prospects on Oregon's recruiting board, took to social media to tease some "big news" coming soon. This comes just days after taking an official visit to see the Alabama Crimson Tide, and a week after taking is OV to Eugene to see the Ducks. Arrington stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 10 player in the 2026 class and the No. 1 ATH. From Spring Valley, California, Oregon has been recruiting him heavily for a long time now and is projected as one of the favorites to land him. There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Arrington on 247Sports, but the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Texas A&M Aggies as the heavy favorite to land the 5-star player, with Steve Wiltfong logging a prediction all the way back in October of 2024. We will see what Arrington's "big news" is at some point this week, but there should be some confidence among Oregon fans that it is positive for the Ducks. Former Oregon Duck hired as scouting assistant by New England Patriots
Former Oregon Duck hired as scouting assistant by New England Patriots The COVID-19 pandemic may have fundamentally altered college football forever. Previously, a player could receive five years of eligibility with a redshirt season, but players were granted an extra year of eligibility due to COVID and now there are players making six or more year careers out of college football. Perhaps the most famous example of this is former Oregon Ducks tight end Cam McCormick. He was relentlessly teased online for being granted nine years of eligibility, but he finally hung up the cleats this year and went undrafted. Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported that with his playing career behind him, McCormick is being hired by the New England Patriots as a scouting assistant. He obviously has no experience coaching, but a player who has been around the college game as long as he has likely has a good sense of how to evaluate players. Even if he doesn't, McCormick will be trained by a head scout to gain the necessary expertise. After being the butt of jokes for years, he gets an opportunity to climb the NFL ladder and garner the respect of fans nationwide.
