Oregon football picks up prediction to land fast-rising QB in 2026 class
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are gearing up for what looks like an eventful summer of recruiting, with a potential hot streak not far off.
With a number of 5-star and blue-chip prospects on campus this month for official visits, Oregon is in line to boost its 2026 class majorly. On Monday, they saw a prediction come in for them to get a valuable member of the class, too — fast-rising quarterback prospect Bryson Beaver.
Few players in the nation have had as busy of a week in the recruiting world as Beaver, who was committed to the Boise State Broncos as a 3-star less than a week ago. However, Oregon offered him last week, and he has since seen his rating bump up to a 4-star on On3, received offers from a pair of SEC schools, and taken visits to the Ole Miss Rebels and Alabama Crimson Tide.
It came out on Monday that Beaver was taking an official visit to Oregon this coming weekend, and 247Sports recruiting analyst Blair Angulo also logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Beaver to commit to the Ducks.
Beaver's rating on 247Sports is far below where On3 has him, leading to some debate about where he currently stands in the recruiting world. While On3 rates Beaver as a 4-star prospect and the No. 19 QB in the 2026 class, 247Sports has him as a 3-star and the No. 71 QB in the class.
Regardless of what the ratings say, Oregon is obviously intrigued by what Beaver brings to the table, and they want him as a member of their 2026 class. The Ducks are also in on 5-star QB Ryder Lyons, who took an official to Eugene last weekend. Lyons is going to decide between Oregon and the BYU Cougars in the near future, but he is planning to take an LDS mission out of high school, so he is more like a member of the 2027 class.

But the ethos for the Wolverines will still likely follow that of the head coach -- SMASH! That means a dominant run game, and the maize and blue are still working to enhance every aspect of its ground-and-pound attack. This year, it meant bringing in former Alabama tailback Justice Haynes. And for next year, Michigan is going all-out trying to secure five-star running back Savion Hiter. And that makes the offensive line that much more important. A top target sets a commitment date One prospect that Michigan football has consistently targeted along the offensive line is 2026 Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee. Lee has been a constant presence in Ann Arbor -- which is saying something given the distance from his native Hawaii. Lee is set to make it back to campus this week for Victors Weekend, his final official visit -- and as it turns out, the final visit before he makes his final decision. According to 247Sports' Brandon Huffman, Lee will make his commitment just one week later, on June 27, live on CBS Sports HQ. Michigan has one 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction, from The Michigan Insider's Steve Lorenz, indicating he'll choose the Wolverines. However, the prediction was made back in Oct. 2024, and Georgia, Alabama, and Texas -- his other three finalists -- have all made strong pushes for him since Lee appeared to be leaning maize and blue. The scouting report from 247Sports' Greg Biggins: From a traits standpoint, offensive linemen don't come much better looking than Lee. He's all of 6-6, 325 pounds with verified 36' arms and an 85'+ wingspan. He's a fluid mover as well and has the feet, balance and frame to project as a tackle and could line up on either side, right or left in college. He plays a little hoops as well and checks off the multi-sport box for us. He uses his length well and has the ability to slide and mirror opposing edge rushers. He has added some physicality in the run game over the last year. He's putting guys on their backs more but playing with a more aggressive edge to him is an area we think Lee can still improve on. Saying that, he's an easy high Power 4 prospect and if he hits his ceiling, he will be playing football for a very long time. The 247Sports Composite has Lee ranked as the No. 137 overall recruit in the country, regardless of position, and the 10th-best offensive tackle and second-best player in the state of Hawaii. What Michigan currently has The Wolverines had a big-time offensive line haul last cycle with two five-star tackles in Andrew Babalola and Ty Haywood, along with four-star guard Avery Gach and three-star center Kaden Strayhorn. As far as the 2026 class is concerned, Michigan has just one offensive line commitment in four-star guard Bear McWhorter. But the Wolverines are in the thick of it with not only Lee, but five-star Felix Ojo (who visited two weeks ago), four-star Kelvin Obot, four-star Zaden Krempin, and others.

5-star CB Brandon Arrington sets commitment date with Oregon football as a finalist On Monday morning, 5-star cornerback Brandon Arrington took to his social media and teased some big news to come. On Monday night, he delivered, announcing that he was cutting his recruitment down to two schools — the Oregon Ducks and Texas A&M Aggies — and moving his commitment date up to this Thursday, June 19. Arrington was originally set to announce his commitment on July 5, but after taking an official visit to Oregon earlier this month, he is accelerating that timeline. However, Arrington is also scheduled to take an official visit to Texas A&M this coming weekend. It seems as if he will either take that visit as the newest member of the Aggies' 2026 class or cancel that visit after committing to Oregon. Arrington stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 10 player in the 2026 class and the No. 1 ATH. From Spring Valley, California, Oregon has been recruiting him heavily for a long time now and is projected as one of the favorites to land him. There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Arrington on 247Sports, but the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Texas A&M Aggies as the heavy favorite to land the 5-star player, with Steve Wiltfong logging a prediction all the way back in October of 2024. By the end of June, Kolone hopes to reach a decision between the Spartans, BYU, and Oklahoma State. Kolone is ranked No. 863 overall, according to 247Sports Composite. He's listed as the No. 18 prospect out of Oklahoma and the No. 90 defensive lineman overall. Out of the 12 commits from the class of 2026, the offense is crowding up the most. Kayd Coffman, Joey Caudill, Eddie Whiting, Eli Bickel, Cory House, Collin Campbell, Quinn Buckey, and Braylon Hodge make up the eight recruits on the offensive side of the ball. Defensive tackle Chris Knauls, safeties Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy and Brayden Thomas, and cornerback K.J. Deriso are the only defensive players to commit so far. In the 2024 season, the Spartans' defense was 15th in the Big Ten for average points allowed (26.1) and 10th in their conference for yards allowed per game (332). If head coach Jonathan Smith can land a few more defensemen out of the class of 2026, the near and far future of Michigan State could start an upwards trend.
