For many who knew him, however, it felt like an eternity.
Moga's wife Seema was inconsolable, needing the support of other women.

Their seven-year-old son, Daksh, performed the last rites. The national flag was handed over to Moga's daughter Vartika, 11. Vartika declared she would join the army and "avenge her father's death by eliminating enemies". Moga had been stationed in Bengaluru and was deployed in Udhampur five days ago due to the escalating conflict.
In attendance were prominent politicians, including Rajasthan deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa of BJP, state leader of opposition Tikaram Jully of Congress, BJP state chief Madan Rathore and Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra. "When a soldier sacrifices for the country, his family sacrifices, too," said minister Rajyavardhan Rathore.

Himachal BJP chief, MLA booked for attempt to murder in stone-pelting incident
A day after 100 protestors, including BJP state president Rajiv Bindal and Paonta Sahib MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, were booked for defying prohibitory orders and assembling in front of Majra police station in Himachal's Sirmaur, the police have added Section 109 of the BNS (attempt to murder) against the protestors. The section was added after about 10 people, including police personnel, were injured in stone pelting and head constable was injured with sharp edged weapon. 'Section of 109 BNS is added to the FIR registered on June 13, in which 10 people, including police personnel, were injured following an attack with sharp edged weapons and stone pelting,' said Sirmaur additional superintendent of police Yogesh Rolta. The section was added on statement of head constable Sandeep, who had sustained sharp edged weapon injury on the head by the protestors who were moving towards house of accused armed with sharp edged weapons, he said. Atleast 10 people were injured in stone-pelting on Friday evening. The stone-pelting followed protests after a 19-year-old man from Kiratpur village eloped with an 18-year-old woman from different faith in a nearby village under Majra police station limits on June 4. The girl's family had lodged a complaint, but even after 10 days, no action was taken. Hindu organisations and local people have been protesting for the last few days, demanding strict action against the 'abductor'. On Friday, they blocked the Nahan-Paonta highway at Majra, about 25 km from Nahan, for about an hour. On Friday evening, as an angry crowd of protesters began moving towards the eloped man's house, locals from the other side resorted to stone-pelting, which the protesters retaliated. Subsequently, police resorted to lathicharge to bring the situation under control. A 36-hour dharna, led by Bindal in Majra area, ended after on Saturday after the man and woman were traced. 'Invoking attempt to murder section is politically motivated and is highly condemnable. People are being terrorized,' said Bindal addressing a press conference. He added, 'Action be taken against those involved in kidnapping and forcible conversion.' In a statement, BJP former state president and MP Suresh Kashyap said that the administration registering a case against BJP state president Dr Rajiv Bindal, MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, who were peacefully protesting against the kidnapping of a girl in Majra village of Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district, is highly condemnable. 'This incident is a clear proof of increasing hooliganism and administrative repression during the Congress government in the state,' he said. 'The false case registered against BJP leaders and protesters should be withdrawn immediately,' said Kashyap.

Cabinet mulls holding rural polls by July-end, awaits court nod on quotas

The govt is waiting for resolution of the case on BC reservations in the high court to move ahead on polls. Sources said that elections may also be pushed to early August in order to give govt time to reach out to voters to showcase its welfare programmes. The cabinet will take a formal call after discussing it with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, and other senior leaders, sources said. After the cabinet approval, the State Election Commission (SEC) would be informed that the state govt was ready to provide police security, employees needed for poll duties and other logistics. As per the Panchayat Raj Act, state govt approval to extend all logistics is mandatory for the SEC to conduct elections. Days after Azamgarh clash, SP MLA says BJP ‘escalated' tension; party calls it ‘baseless'
A CLASH between members of two communities in Azamgarh's Bamhour village recently, which prompted one community to put up posters declaring that their houses for sale, took a political turn on Monday when Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Akhilesh accused the ruling BJP of 'escalating the matter by instigating one of the communities.' The BJP denied the allegations. The Azamgarh police on Monday arrested three more persons, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 11, said a senior police officer. The incident took place on June 3 after objections were raised when youths from a particular community were seen recording videos and taking photographs from their rooftops of a marriage procession in which women were dancing. A clash erupted between the two communities, during which stones were pelted and sticks were used to assault one another. Members of both communities were injured, police said. MLA Akhilesh claimed that while the clash had broken out over playing of music on loudspeakers, a case has been registered against members of only one community. He alleged, 'After the incident, BJP workers and office-bearers from other areas reached the village and escalated the situation by inciting members of a community…' 'On June 12, people put up posters declaring their houses were for sale after being instigated by the BJP,' he claimed. Bamhour village falls under the Mubarakpur Assembly seat, with a major chunk of its residents engaged in agriculture. 'I visited the village twice after the incident and tried to convince the people. No one has sold their house or left the village,' claimed Akhilesh, adding that the posters have been removed. Akhilesh won the Assembly election from the Mubarakpur Assembly seat, under which Bamhour village falls. A senior police officer also said all the posters have been removed and no one has left the village or sold their house. Later in the day, BJP's Azamgarh district president D K Singh denied all the allegations levelled by the MLA, terming these as 'baseless'. He added that the prime accused in the case had fled after the incident and allegedly threatened people through social media, which prompted some local residents to put up posters. They approached police, after which the accused were arrested and the matter has since been resolved, claimed Singh. Police said some members of one of the groups involved in the June 3 clash suffered serious injuries and they, led by a local resident, Sandeep Kannojia, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, filed a complaint at the local police station. The case was registered under several charges, including voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, attempt to murder, and assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty. The SC/ST Act was also invoked.
