IPOH, May 14 — Three more bodies of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who died in an accident in Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam yesterday morning were buried this morning. The body of the late Corporal Muhamad Akmal Muhamad was buried at Al-Mubarak Mosque Islamic Cemetery, Kampung Telok Pial, Kuala Kurau, at about 7.30 this morning. The body was earlier taken to his father-in-law's house at 6.15 am before being taken to the mosque at 6.45 am for prayers and burial. An atmosphere of grief was evident when about 100 residents and family members were at the burial site of the 35-year-old FRU member. Meanwhile, the remains of Corporal Mohd Pozli Jaudin, 41, were buried in Kampung Pantai Besar cemetery in Batu Kurau at about 9 am this morning, while the remains of Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38, were buried at Simpang Mosque cemetery, Taiping at 10 am. The burials of the three bodies were carried out in accordance with Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) ceremonial protocols. — Bernama

TELUK INTAN: The bodies of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members who died in an accident at Km15, Simpang Tangki Air in Langkap yesterday were taken for the final respects. The victims' remains were transported to the FRU Unit 5 base in Ipoh at about 12.50am. Earlier, the seven Muslim FRU members' bodies were brought to the surau at the Hilir Perak district police headquarters for funeral prayers. The seven bodies were taken from the Forensic Department of Teluk Intan Hospital in three separate groups. The first group, consisting of three bodies, arrived safely at the Surau Ar-Rahman at the Hilir Perak police headquarters at 10.25pm, comprised Corporal Mohd Pozli Jaudin, 41; Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38; and Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28. The next three bodies followed about an hour later, comprising Corporal Amiruddin Zabri, 38; Corporal Muhamad Akmal Muhamad, 35; and Lance Corporal Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33. The final coffin, carrying the body of Sergeant Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim, 46, arrived at 12.39am. The bodies were accompanied by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and the Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin. The funeral prayer was led by Ahmad Kamil Ibrahim from the Religious and Counselling Division, Department of Integrity and Standard Compliance (JIPS), Perak police headquarters. Two non-Muslim FRU members who were also killed in the same accident, namely, the late Sergeant S. Perumal and the late Corporal Nurit Pandak, were also brought to the FRU Unit 5 office for their final respects. It was reported that nine FRU members died in an accident with a lorry carrying stone on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam here yesterday, and their identities had been confirmed. Nine other FRU members are currently receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital.

TELUK INTAN: The bodies of two Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who were killed in the crash along Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam here were taken from Teluk Intan Hospital. The remains of Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, and Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38, were transported in separate hearses, departing from the hospital's Forensics Department at 10pm. It is understood that the bodies will first be taken to the Ar-Rahman Surau at the Hilir Perak District Police headquarters for funeral prayers, before being brought to the Unit 5 FRU base in Sungai Senam. Earlier, media reported that all nine FRU personnel who died in the crash involving a gravel-laden lorry along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam this morning had been identified. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin was reported as saying the crash lso left nine other FRU personnel injured, who are currently receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital. He said all the victims were from Unit 5 FRU based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh. The FRU truck carrying 18 personnel was on its way back to Ipoh after completing their assignment for the Chitrapournami celebration in Hilir Perak.
