In its final communiqué, known as the Baghdad Declaration, the Council called on all member states to actively support Morocco 's bid by engaging with friendly countries and mobilizing diplomatic efforts to secure the kingdom's election to the prestigious UN body. Morocco was represented at the summit by its Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita . The Moroccan delegation also included Mohamed Ait Ouali, Morocco's Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League; Abdelkrim Bensellam, Chargé d'Affaires at the Moroccan Embassy in Baghdad; Abdelali El Jahid, Head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Hicham Ould Sallay, Deputy Permanent Representative of Morocco to the Arab League; and Mohamed Nouri, Counselor at the Kingdom's Permanent Representation. Morocco's candidacy for the UN Security Council seat reflects its ongoing efforts to play a more prominent role in international diplomacy and to contribute to global peace and security initiatives. The summit, hosted by Iraq for the first time since 2012, brought together leaders and representatives from the 22 Arab League member states, along with international guests including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Its primary focus was on the continuous genocide in Gaza, with leaders calling for an immediate ceasefire, the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of the war-torn territory. Morocco crowned Best African Tennis Nation for the 7th consecutive year

Morocco has once again asserted its dominance on the African tennis scene. For the seventh consecutive year, the Kingdom was awarded the Trophy for the Best Tennis Nation in Africa on Saturday in Cairo, during the closing ceremony of the African U14 Team Championships. The ceremony took place in the presence of Morocco's ambassador to Egypt, Mohamed Ait Ouali, who praised the outstanding achievements of young Moroccan talents in various categories (U14, U16, and U18) on the continental stage. With a total of 2,100 points, the Moroccan teams were far ahead of their competitors: Tunisia (1,440 points) and Egypt (1,420 points), thus reaffirming their supremacy in African tennis. Zakaria Zemrani, a member of the board of the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation (FRMT) and head of the delegation present in Cairo, told MAP that this title crowns the ongoing efforts of the Federation. He emphasized the importance of supporting national clubs, training coaches and mentors, and backing athletes on the international stage. Arab League Pledges Economic Support for Morocco's 2030 World Cup Bid

Doha – The Economic and Social Council of the Arab League has officially extended its economic support to Morocco for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, during its 115th session held on Wednesday. The council adopted a resolution calling on all member states to back Morocco's efforts in hosting the global sporting event alongside Spain and Portugal. In addition to World Cup preparations, the council's agenda encompassed several key economic initiatives. Members reviewed the implementation of previous resolutions from the 114th session and discussed the general secretariat's activities between sessions. The economic and social dossier for the 34th ordinary summit in Baghdad also featured prominently in the discussions, alongside deliberations on Yemen's development needs, the Arab free trade zone, and customs union developments. The Moroccan delegation at the session was led by Mohamed Ait Ouali, Morocco's ambassador to Cairo and permanent representative to the Arab League, accompanied by representatives from the ministries of Economy and Finance, as well as Industry and Commerce. The Arab League's commitment joins a series of regional endorsements. In December 2024, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi announced the Gulf states' comprehensive support during his Rabat visit. 'Gulf countries will be fully ready to provide all forms of support and cooperation to Rabat for this event,' Al-Budaiwi stated during a joint press conference with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. More recently, in a meeting held on February 10, Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit and his Spanish counterpart Fernando Grande-Marlaska discussed security preparations for the tournament in Madrid. Both officials elevated the importance of collaboration between the co-hosting nations to ensure the event's success.
