Saiyaara Box Office Day 9: Ahaan Panday's debut enters Rs 200 crore club, surpasses Housefull 5
Something quite rare is happening at the box office, Ahaan Panday's debut film Saiyaara has not just survived the second weekend slump, it's grown stronger. The Mohit Suri-directed romantic musical, co-starring Aneet Padda, has emerged as a surprise blockbuster of the year. On its second Saturday (Day 9), the film collected an estimated Rs 25.5–26.5 crore, showing a strong 40% jump from its already solid second Friday earnings of Rs 18.5 crore. That takes its total to a whopping Rs 219.25–220.25 crore, according to early estimates. What makes this more impressive? Saiyaara is now only the second Bollywood film in 2025 to cross the ₹200 crore milestone, after Chhaava. Other highly anticipated releases like Sitaare Zameen Par, Raid 2, Housefull 5, and Sikandar couldn't breach the mark. How does it compare with other 2025 hits? Here's a snapshot of the top Bollywood grossers of 2025 (so far): Chhaava – Rs 615.39 crore Saiyaara – Rs 219.25–220.25 crore (est.) Housefull 5 – Rs 198.41 crore Raid 2 – Rs 179.30 crore Sitaare Zameen Par – Rs 165.39 crore Box Office breakdown: Day by day Day 1 – Rs 22 crore Day 2 – Rs 26.25 crore Day 3 – Rs 36.25 crore Day 4 – Rs 24.25 crore Day 5 – Rs 25 crore Day 6 – Rs 22 crore Day 7 – Rs 19.50 crore Day 8 – Rs 18.50 crore Day 9 – Rs 25.5–26.5 crore (est.) What's driving the buzz around Saiyaara? A debut hero, a soulful soundtrack, and Mohit Suri's romantic storytelling seem to be the winning combo. The film's strong word-of-mouth, coupled with a young fanbase and repeat audience, is fueling its momentum. If the pace continues, Saiyaara might just give even bigger films a run for their money. All eyes are now on its 10-day total and whether it can inch closer to the Rs 250 crore milestone in Week 2.

Hindi film industry lights up the box office from Summer 2025; 8 films collect over Rs 1100 crore
The good days are finally back in the race, as mid-sized Hindi films have begun to draw audiences on the big screen. The change of tide was always in the offing, but it took a constant flow of releases to result in a shift of momentum. The last 3 months have been the best for the film fraternity in the Post-Covid era with as many as 7 successes, including a mammoth blockbuster like Saiyaara. The 3-month aggregate collection starting from Jaat, leading to Kesari 2, Raid 2, Housefull 5, Sitaare Zameen Par, Maa, Metro In Dino, and Saiyaara are looking to collect in the range of Rs 1150 crore, and leading the show from the front will be Saiyaara, as it is headed to collect in the range of Rs 375 crore to Rs 425 crore in India. Films like Housefull 5, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Raid 2 collected in the vicinity of Rs 165 crore each, whereas Jaat and Kesari 2 scored in the range of Rs 90 crore. Metro In Dino on the other hand is looking to end its run at Rs 52 crore, whereas Maa clocked Rs 35 crore in India. It's more like a success every week starting April 10, as even Bhool Chuk Maaf did some numbers, contributing revenue to the cinema owners. Apart from the aforementioned films, four Hollywood movies also struck gold at the Indian box office in the same period with Final Destination: Bloodlines, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, F1, and Jurassic World. The four films, along with Superman aggregated about Rs 350 crore nett in India, making it a golden period for the Indian Exhibitors. The audiences are finally recultivating the habit of visiting cinema halls on a week-on-week basis, and the film fraternity too has been consistent with fairly reasonable content for the audience. While the mid-range successes have come in plenty, the Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara has filled the void of a blockbuster, which was missing in the report-card of the year post Chaavva in February. While big star films doing big numbers is always expected, nothing energises the industry better than a mid-sized film emerging a blockbuster of epic proportions. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Saiyaara strikes a chord with GenZ, likely to gross ₹200-300 crore
Exceeding industry expectations, Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has found an audience with the Gen Z with its compelling love story and musical tracks, pushing its global box office numbers over ₹100 crore in the first few days of its release. The romantic drama from the Yash Raj Films banner revolves around Krish Kapoor (Panday), a struggling musician, and a young writer (Padda) diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. The movie explores the feelings of love and loss through the relationship between its lead characters. Saiyaara has already broken records for a movie led by debutants, by entering into the ₹100-crore club in its first weekend. Film trade analyst Girish Wankhede expects Saiyaara to be the fastest film to reach the ₹200 crore-mark. Bhuvanesh Mendiratta, managing director, Miraj Entertainment, believes that the film has the potential to touch ₹300 crore in its full run. Cinepolis India anticipates the film to collect an additional ₹60 to ₹70 crore in its second weekend. Earlier, such excitement and momentum for films with new actors was seen in Dhadak, Aashiqui 2, and Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. PVR INOX, India's largest cinema exhibitor, said that the movie recorded over 15 lakh admissions in three days (opening weekend), with 77 per cent occupancy on Sunday. For Miraj Cinemas, the film saw a footfall of about 2.5 lakh people across its properties, with occupancy averaging slightly over 60 per cent for the opening weekend. ALSO READ: India box office earns Rs 5,723 cr in 2025 first-half; 'Chhaava' roars MovieMax Cinemas noted a footfall of over 100,000 people, with ₹3 crore in box office collection in the opening weekend. Meanwhile, BookMyShow sold over 3.5 million tickets on its platform for the opening weekend, making it one of the fastest-selling movies in recent months. This reassures the industry that with the right content, theatrical business can shine and bring audiences back to theatres, said officials of the country's leading theatre chains. 'We increased the shows and added night shows to accommodate the high demand for Saiyaara. The film worked very well in the Hindi belt, including Delhi, Jaipur, Bhopal, Patna, and Lucknow (driving the demand),' said Devang Sampat, managing director, Cinepolis India. 'Saiyaara is expected to cross a footfall of one million in its first week, which underlines its strong resonance with audiences.' Mendiratta added that the film has performed especially well in North India, with cities like Jaipur, Ludhiana, Lucknow, and Patiala reporting houseful shows. The film also has a strong connection with the age group between 15 to 30 years. He said that the younger audience is showing up in large numbers, with many coming in for repeat viewings, reflecting on the film's emotional impact. 'The film's early success reaffirms the audience's growing appetite for emotionally rich storytelling, especially when paired with fresh, relatable talent,' said Ashish Saksena, chief operating officer (COO), BookMyShow. 'Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have captured the relevance to and imagination of Gen Z and millennial viewers, marking a strong debut, with the film's soulful music and heartfelt narrative driving strong engagement pan-India. Cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune are leading ticket sales, followed closely by Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Saiyaara is on the way to become one of the biggest opening weekend performers this year on the platform, second only to Chaava,' Gautam Dutta, chief executive officer (CEO), revenue and operations, PVR INOX, said that the phenomenal response to Saiyaara is a strong testament to the film's emotional connect and the power of theatrical storytelling. 'What's especially exciting is the way it's striking a chord with Gen Z audiences, particularly in metros like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Pune, where youth numbers were significantly above average. Saiyaara has also become a record-breaker, becoming the first film led entirely by debutant actors to enter the ₹100-crore club within its opening weekend,' Dutta added. Kunal Sawhney, COO, Moviemax Cinemas, said that the film has seen a steady demand on weekdays, and expects similar footfall in the upcoming weekend. Similar to Miraj Cinemas, its properties across Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Pune, and Noida have significantly contributed to its overall performance. 'The momentum has been so strong that it has already impacted the release slate. Son of Sardar 2 has reportedly postponed its release due to Saiyaara's continued performance, and I believe that decision is directly linked to how well Saiyaara is holding ground. With major releases lined up in the coming weeks, it's rare to see a film maintain such a strong hold, but Saiyaara seems poised to run well into the release of big-ticket films like War 2,' said Mendiratta. Wankhede explained that with the audience being overexposed to crime and thriller genres, Saiyaara fills the gap with its romantic and emotional theme. At the same time, the movie did not have any major competition with other releases on July 18. He also noted that the actors' minimal exposure in terms of promoting the movie created curiosity, with all its music tracks being a hit with the audiences prior to the film's release.

Featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in lead roles, the film has defied expectations and emerged not only as a standout success in 2025, but has also set a new benchmark for collections by films starring debutante actors. Box Office Performance The film, which marks the big-screen debut of Ahaan alongside Aneet, beat all expectations and early box office predictions to score this impressive feat. According to reports on sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 21 crore on day 1 and saw good growth at the box office on day 2, earning an estimated Rs 25 crore. The film then went on to score its highest collection at the ticket windows on Sunday, earning an estimated Rs 37 crore, according to early estimates. Sunday's collection helped the film earn a total collection of Rs 83 crore India net. Highest Earning Films Of 2025 According to box office reports, the film has surpassed all predictions to take its place among the highest-earning Bollywood films of 2025. 'Saiyaara' not only outperformed Suri's previous opening records like 'Ek Villain' which earned Rs 16 crore and 'Aashiqui 2', which earned Rs 6.1 crore, but also positioned itself among the top 5 highest opening weekends of 2025. It is now trailing behind only big-ticket films like, Vicky Kaushal 's 'Chhaava' which earned Rs 121.43 crore, 'Housefull 5' which has an estimated net total of Rs 91.83 crore and 'Sikandar' which earned Rs 86.44 crore net. Occupancy Rate Saiyaara recorded an overall 71.18% Hindi occupancy on Sunday in Hindi-speaking regions. The film performed particularly well during its evening shots, with the highest footfalls recorded to be around 79.32% and 88.15%. Trade analysts are crediting the film's success to a combination of fresh casting, music, and Suri's emotional storytelling, which seems to have struck a chord with younger audiences. This impressive Rs 80+ crore debut for Panday, comes at a time when several other star kids, the latest being Shanaya Kapoor , failed to rake in even Rs 2 crore at the box office in the first week of the release of her debut film 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan'. Director Suri credits the film's authenticity and emotional truth. In interviews, he's spoken candidly about his desire to push past the rose-tinted portrayal of romance in Bollywood: 'In love, there will be pain… If love is not real, it's not felt. I believe in it more than I fantasise about it,' he told PTI. Bollywood vs Hollywood 'Saiyaara' has also beaten the likes of Hollywood films like 'Superman' and 'Jurassic World Rebirth'. The new release has comfortably shot past the collections of James Gunn's Superman, and is just a few crore shy of beating the Scarlett Johansson starrer dino film, which has a two-week total collection of Rs 86.6 crore. This film is expected to continue its upward trend at the box office and record a strong opening weekend. All eyes will now turn to Monday's numbers to see if the film can maintain its momentum and set a new box office record.
