TikTok's ‘I'll Be There' Trend Hints at Teens' Obsessions (& Annoyances!) Right Now

Teens are poking a little fun at themselves — and their surroundings — in the funniest new TikTok trend. Because taking yourself too seriously is not cool! The 'I'll Be There' trend hints at what teens are obsessed with and annoyed with right now, and we can't stop laughing at some of these hilarious examples. The 'I'll Be There' trend utilizes a viral sound by 'Moldy Egg,' which features soft music and the words, 'Every night, at dinner, I'll be there. Every birthday part, I'll be there. Every Christmas, I'll be thereeeeee.' The sound itself comes from a clip from Boss Baby, where Boss Baby (voiced by Alec Baldwin) promises his older brother Tim Templeton that he will never be able to escape his younger sibling. Teens are using it to show the things they will never escape in their lives, too. More from SheKnows Parents of Tweens & Teens: Here's How to Take the Stress Out of Back-to-School Season For example, one girl shared a video that says, 'How it feels to always have a double chin' set to the sound. She shares photos of herself from prom, graduation, and other places, then zooms in on her double chin during each of the 'I'll be there' parts of the sound. Another teen jokes that she always has this accessory with her. 'pov you chronically wear your airpods,' she wrote over a video featuring pictures of her giving blood, dressing up, and even getting her driver license photo taken with an Airpod in her ears. One girl with chapped lips said in a video, 'How it feels bringing Aquaphor EVERYWHERE.' On the football field after graduation, eating at a restaurant, going to the beach, and more, she had a tube of Aquaphor in her hands. In the spirit of Boss Baby, another funny video showed her twin brother by her side all the time. 'being a twin means never having your own birthday party,' she wrote, alongside photos of her and her twin brother throughout childhood. Realizing these little obsessions we have (or annoyances) is a great way to find the humor in life, and we love seeing the silly and funny side of teen culture right now. Gen Z seems to be experts at finding old quotes from movies and TV shows and repurposing them into funny new trends. Like how teens are saying, 'start digging in your butt, twin,' from an old SpongeBob SquarePants episode or 'rhymes with Grug' from The Croods.
