Thabo Moloisane set to leave Stellies with Big 3 circling

Thabo Moloisane will walk away from Stellenbosch FC at the end of the 2025/26 season, with his agent confirming he won't renew his contract. That means the highly-rated defender will be available as a free agent from 1 July 2026. After joining Stellenbosch following Maritzburg United's relegation in 2023, the 27-year-old centre-back has flourished. Moloisane made 46 appearances across all competitions last season, playing a pivotal role in helping the club secure a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership and a semi-final berth in the CAF Confederation Cup. Alongside Ismaël Olivier Touré, Moloisane anchored the heart of the defence, earning widespread plaudits for his commanding performances. 'Yes, this is our last dance so to speak. Thabo has had an incredible stint at Stellenbosch FC and enjoyed quite a number of milestones with the club, including being called up to Bafana Bafana,' said agent Karabo Tshabuse. 'There were discussions for a contract extension, which was tabled for him to continue playing there beyond just next season. But we could not find each other – so this will be Thabo's final year at the club.' With just six months before Moloisane becomes eligible to sign a pre-contract, interest is heating up from South Africa's traditional powerhouses, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. Kaizer Chiefs: quiet monitoring The Glamour Boys have tracked Moloisane since late 2024. Chiefs reportedly included him on their defensive wishlist and may move in with a formal offer closer to the season's conclusion. Orlando Pirates: Leading the race Pirates have shown the most aggressive interest, identifying Moloisane as a key defensive target early in 2025. Reports suggest ongoing talks, with a potential deal on the table. Scouts have consistently watched his progress, and the Bucs appear keen to seal the move. Mamelodi Sundowns: Keeping tabs Sundowns haven't made any official moves yet, but their historic connection to Moloisane, who came through their youth ranks, makes them a legitimate contender. The Brazilians have also kept a close eye on Stellenbosch's emerging talent pool. The player has admitted he's aware of the buzz surrounding his future. In a composed response, Moloisane expressed gratitude but refused to rush any decisions. 'I'm waiting for the right opportunity at the right time. God is in control, so we'll see,' he said. Orlando Pirates news: Midfield shake-up, young prospects excite

Orlando Pirates are reportedly evaluating their midfield options closely as transfer talks heat up. The Buccaneers' ambition to strengthen key areas has seen interest in young talent, while established players face uncertain futures. Thabo Moloisane remains a long-term target for Orlando Pirates, with the player himself acknowledging the interest. 'When you have interest, it shows you're doing well,' Moloisane told SABC Sport. His consistent performances have attracted attention from multiple clubs. Orlando Pirates aim to blend youth and experience in the midfield. With recent squad changes, the club is keen to bring in players who can make an immediate impact and grow with the team. Moloisane fits that mold perfectly. The Buccaneers' supporters are hopeful but cautious. The pressure to maintain competitiveness in the league is high, and the midfield's strength will be vital. Fans await official announcements as the transfer window edges closer to closing. Orlando Pirates know that strategic signings can define their season's success. Meanwhile, Relebohile Mofokeng's father, Sechaba, has seemingly urged his son to flock the PSL, saying, The 20-year-old could be out the door this offseason, a sentiment further ignited by his father, Sechaba. Orlando Pirates have already released four players. Image: Orlando Pirates media 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers.' '[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia,' he added. 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.' Orlando Pirates are yet to comment on his future. Orlando Pirates eye Bafana Bafana star as next signing!

Orlando Pirates have already made 11 signings ahead of the new season, with nine of those announced by the club. Pirates have made some marquee signings, as well as acquisitions that are designed to boost the squad depth. Out in Spain right now, there are a number of new faces including players and coaches. Pirates have confirmed Sipho Mbule, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Tshepo Mashiloane, Sihle Nduli, Tshepang Moremi , Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Yanela Mbuthuma. They also dropped the bomb of Oswin Appollis while they're yet to announce the signing of Malian midfielder Abdoulaye Mariko. This publication also reported that TS Galaxy centre-back Lebone Seema is also set to join. This comes after the appointment of new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. Pirates, clearly not done yet in the market had also invited Zambian striker Enock Sakala to train with them. The player spent six-months with Chippa United last season and was left with the group of players in South Africa. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , the Buccaneers are stepping their attempts to sign Thabo Moloisane from Stellenbosch FC! 'It's believed to be an ongoing process. It's one player at a time and if you look at the players signed so far there are no central defenders and apparently that's why it's believed that the club (Pirates) are still pursuing Thabo Moloisane. The club scouts and recruiters are believed to have been following his progress for some time now,' said one source to the same publication. A second source claims Pirates want Moloisane to boost their squad depth, heading into multiple competitions next season. 'They (Pirates) are apparently looking at bringing in Thabo Moloisane to strengthen and bolster the squad and have a well-balanced squad as the club are building a strong squad to compete in all the tournaments this season including fighting for the league title,' said the source. Pirates fans, how big would the signing of Moloisane be if you got him? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
