Excl: Was it a good idea to put El Grande Americano, not CM Punk, in the WWE Money in the Bank match 2025? Expert weighs in
El Grande Americano beat CM Punk and AJ Styles in the main event of WWE Raw on June 2 to qualify for the Money in the Bank match 2025. This took many by surprise as they expected 'The Second City Saint' to punch his ticket for the marquee match. In an exclusive interview with Indiatimes, veteran writer Vince Russo weighed in on the situation . Vince Russo weighs in on El Grande Americano being in the Money in the Bank match El Grande Americano is set to lock horns with the likes of Seth Rollins and Solo Sikoa in the Money in Bank 2025 match on June 7. The 'legendary luchador' outlasted Styles and Punk in a controversial triple threat match on the red brand, which saw outside interference from the 'Paul Heyman guys'. According to writer Vince Russo, who is known for his work in WWE and WCW, CM Punk was his pick to secure the last spot in the match as he is a big star. 'El Grande Americano is Entertaining, but I think the match could use more star power and that's why I would have put CM Punk into the match,' he said. He, however, admitted that Americano is 'entertaining' and can pull off some high risk spots in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. This, according to him, makes him a good pick for the contest. 'With a Ladder Match they need High Spots for the Pops, so that's why Americano is in it,'added russo Interestingly, many in the WWE feel that Americano is actually Chad Gable under a mask. The American Made member is set to compete against Vikingo at World's Collide, which takes place on the same day as Money in the Bank. How did El Grande Americano fare at WrestleMania 41? Americano has emerged as a prominent member of the roster in no time. He scored a win over Rey Fenix (who was substituting for an injured Rey Mysterio) at WrestleMania 41, adding a new dimension to his career. Winning the Money in the Bank briefcase could put him in touching distance of winning the World Heavyweight Championship or the Undisputed title. WWE ‘Raw': Seth Rollins earns ‘Money in the Bank' spot, CM Punk attacks
May 27 (UPI) --Seth Rollins earned a spot in the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match before getting sneak attacked by his rival CM Punk in the main event of WWE's Raw. Rollins faced off against Sami Zayn and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat match Monday to determine who would get to compete in the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match June 7 in Los Angeles. The winner of the Money in the Bank Ladder match earns a briefcase that can be cashed in at any time to instantly be granted a world championship match. Rollins recently defeated Zayn and Punk in a tag team match at Saturday Night's Main Event over Memorial Day weekend after a returning Bronson Reed joined his villainous cabal that also includes Bron Breakker and The Wiseman Paul Heyman. The bout featured Zayn performing a Springboard Moonsault onto Rollins and Balor to pay homage to the late Sabu. Zayn was also able to land the Helluva Kick on Rollins before he was ambushed by Breakker and Reed. As Breakker and Reed attacked Zayn, World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso arrived onto the scene to help even the odds. Breakker later took out Uso with a devastating Spear outside the ring. Balor then received help from his fellow Judgement Day member Dirty Dominik Mysterio, who tossed a steel chair into the ring. Balor was unable to reach the chair in time, however, allowing Rollins to perform The Stomp using the weapon. Rollins then won the match and earned his spot for Money in the Bank. Rollins celebrated in the ring before Punk's music started playing. Breakker and Reed quickly headed up the entrance ramp, but Punk arrived from the opposite side of the arena and snuck into the ring. Punk was able to knock Rollins out with a surprise GTS before he made a quick exit through the audience as Raw ended on Netflix. 2025 United Press International, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
