HTET scheduled for July 30-31 in Panchkula
Panchkula: The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) will take place on July 30 and 31 in Panchkula. A total of 9,622 candidates are expected to appear across 16 designated centres. Jammers will also be installed at exam centres to prevent the use of electronic devices. Section 163 of the BNSS will be enforced during the exam days. Flying squads have been appointed to prevent malpractice and irregularities. Officials and staff have been instructed to wear identity cards and follow guidelines strictly. These measures aim to ensure a fair and secure examination process for all candidates.

58K appear for second day of HSSC CET exam in Chandigarh, Panchkula
Over 58,000 aspirants appeared at examination centres across Chandigarh and Panchkula on the second and last day of Haryana Staff Selection Commission's (HSSC) Common Eligibility Test (CET). The exam conducted for the Group C posts, expected to see nearly 13.7 lakh candidates appear across Haryana and Chandigarh in total over two days. On Sunday, the exam was conducted in two shifts, from 10 am to 11.45 am and 3pm to 4.45 pm. The Haryana government provided free home-to-centre transportation for 53 differently-abled candidates in Panchkula district. In Panchkula, the second day of CET had approximately 21,000 candidates appearing across all 44 examination centres. According to the administration, forty-six buses ferried Panchkula candidates to Yamunanagar, while 256 buses brought examinees from Karnal and Kaithal districts to Panchkula. Deputy commissioner Monika Gupta detailed the extensive bus operations, ensuring timely arrivals and departures across shifts and locations. Adding to these efforts, the Haryana government provided free home-to-centre transportation for 53 differently-abled candidates in Panchkula district. With centres located in Chandigarh, the district administration arranged door-to-door pick-up and drop-off services. Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on X mentioned about successfully conducting the exam all over.

59,000 appear for HSSC Common Entrance Test in Chandigarh, Panchkula
Over 59,000 aspirants converged on examination centres across Chandigarh and Panchkula as the Haryana Staff Selection Commission's Common Entrance Test (CET) for Group C posts commenced on Saturday. In Panchkula, the first day of the CET proceeded smoothly across all 44 centres. Local administration directives were strictly enforced, with photocopy shops remaining closed. While a few dual-business establishments were observed open, they adhered to the ban on photocopying services. All coaching centres in the district also remained shut. Police maintained high vigilance outside examination centres, with vehicles strategically stationed. Buses arranged by the district administration ferried examinees within the city and from the bus stand to various centres. Numerous private school buses were also deployed for this purpose, with many stationed at the Sector-5 bus stand. Out of 21,488 candidates who had registered for Panchkula centres on Day 1, 19,759 appeared for the exam. Panchkula deputy commissioner Monika Gupta personally inspected multiple examination centres during both shifts, confirming the peaceful conduct of exams at all locations. (Sant Arora/HT) Despite meticulous arrangements and deployment of 1,000 Haryana Roadways shuttle buses, designated help desks and traffic advisories rolled out ahead of the exam, key routes in Chandigarh and Panchkula experienced significant traffic congestion, especially outside the exam centres. Routes, including Tribune Chowk to Zirakpur, CTU Workshop through Sector 28/26 lights, Gurdwara Chowk, and southern sectors of Chandigarh erupted into standstill traffic, with vehicles crawling for over 30 to 40 minutes. Traffic was also completely jammed between Vikas Nagar and Hallomajra light points, and the Kalagram light point towards the railway station side, affecting roads typically relied on by candidates and general commuters alike. Commuters reported chaos in front of the Dadumajra dumping yard, where CET exam candidates were stuck in a jam for 40 minutes. All coaching institutes and photocopy shops in Panchkula will remain closed on Sunday as well due to the ongoing CET. Furthermore, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita will continue to be enforced around all examination centres to ensure security and prevent unlawful assembly.

Over 10,000 appear for Haryana CET at 44 centres in Panchkula
Panchkula: The Haryana CET 2025, organised by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), was conducted smoothly on the first day across Panchkula district. Both shifts of the exam took place without any trouble at all 44 designated centres, with tight security arrangements in place. A total of 10,760 applicants appeared. Deputy commissioner Monika Gupta said the district administration made comprehensive arrangements to ensure convenience for candidates. For those arriving from outside Panchkula, feeder buses were deployed at intervals of 3 to 4 minutes to ferry them to their respective exam centres on time. After the exam, candidates were similarly transported back to the bus stand, from where they departed for their destinations. The DC also visited several examination centres to oversee the arrangements. Coaching centres and photocopy shops to remain closed tomorrow The DC also announced that all coaching institutes and photocopy shops will remain closed on July 27 due to the ongoing CET exams. Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) will remain in effect around the examination centres to ensure order and discipline. Special transport arranged for candidate who missed bus When a candidate from Thapli village missed her bus and contacted the control room helpline (0172-2566262), prompt action was taken by SDM and traffic in-charge Chandrakant Kataria. A special vehicle was arranged, and the candidate was safely transported to her exam centre in Yamunanagar. In another case, around 50 candidates arrived at the Panchkula bus stand whose exam centres were located in Manimajra (outside Panchkula). The administration arranged a special feeder bus to transport all of them to their respective centres on time. Differently-abled candidates from Panchkula district had their exam centres in Chandigarh. The district administration contacted each candidate individually to understand their needs. Those who requested assistance were picked up from their homes, taken to the exam centres, and dropped back after the examination, ensuring complete support throughout the process. Buses engaged To transport candidates from Panchkula to Yamunanagar, a total of 60 buses were dispatched from six key locations. As many as 236 buses were used to bring candidates from Karnal and Kaithal districts to Panchkula for the CET. Panchkula DCP Srishti Gupta helped a CET 2025 candidate reach his correct examination centre just minutes before the entry gates were set to close. One such instance occurred when a candidate mistakenly arrived at Bhavan Vidyalaya in Sector 15, thinking it was his designated exam centre. After failing to find his name on the roll number list and repeatedly checking with officials, the candidate panicked, realising his actual centre was another school in the same sector. Acting swiftly, the DCP directed her escort team to immediately transport the student to his correct centre. The student reached just in time and was able to sit for his exam.
