Lexus Has Only Sold 248 LC Hybrids—Ever
The Lexus LC doesn't get the recognition it truly deserves. The two-door touring car looks great, it has a lavish cabin, and in the era of downsizing, it packs one of the last remaining naturally aspirated V-8s on the market. The only thing it's missing is a manual. But even then, Lexus's lovely two-door hasn't been a big hit. In 2024, the company sold just 1,464 total examples of the LC . Lexus moved 1,761 units of the LC the year prior, and 1,387 units the year before that. Since its debut in 2017, the LC has hovered at around 1,500 units per year, with 2021 being the lone outlier; Lexus sold 2,782 LCs that year. 2018 Lexus LC500h Photo by: Lexus All told, Lexus has only sold 14,000 examples of the LC (through the first half of 2025) since the touring car went on sale nearly eight years ago. That explains why it may soon be on the chopping block, even with a recent update for the 2026 model year. Digging even deeper into those figures reveals another damning number: 248. Following its departure from the lineup earlier this week, Lexus confirmed to Motor1 that the company has only sold 248 LC Hybrids in the US throughout the vehicle's entire lifetime. That includes sales for this year, in which Lexus sold just 7 LC Hybrids. Here's how those sales for the LC Hybrid shake out by year: 2018: 102 Units 2019: 37 Units 2020: 14 Units 2021: 14 Units 2022: 19 Units 2023: 37 Units 2024: 18 Units 2025 (as of June): 7 Units For such an otherwise beautiful sports car, it's a shame to see sales figures that low. That said, it makes sense why the LC Hybrid was discontinued for 2026. The LC Hybrid debuted in 2016 and went on sale in the US alongside the V-8 model beginning in 2018. Unfortunately, Lexus swapped the pure gas LC's 5.0-liter V-8 for a 3.5-liter V-6 with two electric motors, dropping the output from 471 horsepower in the V-8 model to 345 horsepower in the Hybrid. It also used an outdated four-speed automatic transmission. Thankfully, buyers can still get their hands on the V-8 LC for 2026. Lexus recently debuted a new Inspiration Series with two new exclusive paint colors. It's limited to just 200 for the coupe and 350 units for the convertible. ‘So Do Not Forget It:' Lamborghini Owner Says This Is How Much Gas Caps Are. So Why Isn't It Attached to the Car?
A Lamborghini owner shared the staggering price of their Lamborghini Gallardo's gas cap, which doesn't come attached to the car. No Average Joe (@noavgj0e) uploaded footage of the cap in question in a viral TikTok that's accrued over 402,000 views on the popular social media platform. Numerous other users on the application who replied to his post were shocked at the price tag the gas cap carried. At the same time, others couldn't fathom why the manufacturer wouldn't design a cap that was attached to the vehicle. Joe's video begins with a recording of him filling up at a gas station. Resting on top of the pump is a metallic gas cap for the '06 Lamborghini Gallardo he features in several different videos on his TikTok page. Next, he grabs the cap as he begins to demonstrate that the cap isn't connected to the vehicle. When unscrewed, it is fully separated from the car. Next, he shows the cap off on camera. It is emblazoned with the text, 'Lamborghini.' Next, he narrates, 'So, fun fact: The gas cap on the Lamborghini that goes right in here? 600 bucks for just this piece, so do not forget it,' he says as he screws the cap back into the vehicle. Does the Lamborghini Gallardo Gas Cap Cost That Much? Motor1 performed a quick perusal of 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo gas caps, and they aren't cheap. This eBay listing has a cap, which is also used for the Murciealgo and Diablo, for $500, plus $13.99 shipping and handling. Missing from the cap's design, however, is the word 'Lamborghini' written on it. Reid Performance appears to have the same one in the eBay listing, which doesn't feature the Lamborghini logo on it, for $420. Another website, Parts Link Enterprises , has a listing for 2004-2014 Lamborghini Gallardo, Murcielago, and Diablo gas caps with the logo printed on the fuel cover for $499.99. However, the website indicates that the part is indeed sold out. And there was another eBay listing for this same style of gas cap that asked folks to shell out $399.01 for the cap. These aforementioned Lamborghini vehicles aren't the only cars from the manufacturer that have high gas cap costs. For instance, there's this eBay listing for a Lamborghini Urus carbon fiber gas cap that retails for a whopping $1,900 . Unlike the Gallardo that Joe showed off in his clip, however, this cap seems to have some type of attachment mechanism to keep it from separating from its vehicle, making it more difficult to lose. Have Lamborghini Owners Lost Their Gas Caps? Unfortunately, there appear to be more than a few folks who've left their gas caps behind, only to realize this error later. Users in this Lamborghini-Talk forum thread opined on the gut-wrenching discoveries that their Gallardos were gas cap-less upon filling up. One person asked if anyone on the forum knew of a place that sold gas caps for these vehicles, as they weren't exactly enthused about having to fork over $600 for a new one. 'Does anyone know where i could get one of these? There is one for sale on eBay I put a bid on. Hopefully it won't go up too high. I am just trying to avoid paying $600 for a gas cap,' they penned. Someone else shared an anecdote with a friend of theirs who ended up in the same predicament. They stated that their pal, indeed, ended up shelling out the six Benjamins for the costly error. 'Friend of mine had a similar thing happen on his 08 SL. He realized within five minutes. But when he came back the gas cap had been stolen. I know he sucked up the $600.00,' they wrote. Why the Gallardo Is One of the Most Affordable Lamborghinis You Can Buy If you've ever dreamt of owning a Lamborghini, there are some who'd argue that the Gallardo is one of the most economical examples you could purchase. Well, about as economical as one could be for a vehicle with a supercar price tag. Edmunds has a 2004, 29K-mile model listed for just under $100,000. You can get a 2012 edition with almost double the amount of mileage for $10K more. This blog post explains why older Gallardos retail for much less than their counterparts. That's because when the Gallardo first debuted, it was deemed as a less powerful variant of the Murcielago (you know, the one Bruce Wayne drives in The Dark Knight ). The Gallardo was one of the first Lamborghinis introduced to the market that directly shared a lot of its DNA with Audi vehicles after Volkswagen acquired the Italian automaker. Since the Gallardo was $166,000 when it was first introduced, it was the best-selling Lamborghini from the brand that had ever been introduced, with 14,000 total sold. This means that because there are more of them on the market than, let's say, a Diablo , supply and demand dictate that Gallardos won't burn as big a hole in your bank account. Although at the end of the day, it's still a Lamborghini, so there are upcharges associated with its various components. Commenters React Numerous folks who responded to Joe's video couldn't get over the fact that an over $100,000 car's gas cap is so easily lost. 'If i'm spending that much for a car, all the pieces better be attached to it,' one penned. Someone else echoed the aforementioned sentiment, writing: 'The most basic of cars come with a place to hang the gas cap. You paid what and it doesn't even have a place for the gas cap while you're putting fuel in?' they asked. Another remarked that they couldn't even imagine ever losing a gas cap themselves. '$1 or $600, shouldn't forget your fuel cap,' they wrote. And then there was this TikToker who urged folks to simply use Volkswagen's ownership of the Lamborghini brand to their advantage. If they ever needed parts, simply buy the VW equivalent. 'If you ever need new parts for the Lamborghini don't pay the ridiculous price. They use a ton of cross referenced VW parts that are just marked up. Find out the part number you need then see if there's a VW part number for the same part for 90% less cost,' they wrote. ‘Menace to Society:' Man Says Ford, Nissan, and Chevy Make the ‘3 Most Reckless Cars on the Road.' Are You Driving One?
In a Facebook post , Alshvn OnlyUp (@ humorously revealed his picks for the top three most reckless cars on the road. The post went viral, generating over 330,000 views as of this writing. What Are the 3 Most Reckless Cars on the Road? 'These cars change lanes like they are playing GTA. No signal, no warning,' Alshvn begins. The first car on the list is the Nissan Altima. Alshvn starts out by calling this car the 'menace to society.' 'If you drive one of these, your license is probably suspended, [the] check engine light is on, and your bumper is hanging on for dear life. There is no telling what lane you are in or where you are heading, but you will get there aggressively,' Alshvn jokes. The second car he features is the legendary Ford Crown Victoria. 'If you are rolling in one of these, chances are you are from the hood or you move like it. Oh, that spotlight by the driver's door, that probably doesn't even work, [but] as soon as you pull on someone, they are slowing down thinking you are the police,' Alshvn shares. Last, but definitely not least, the Chevy Impala rounds out the list. 'In this car, you either fly past everyone in the fast lane or on the side of the road with your hazards on since your transmission just went out. There's no in between,' Alshvn claims. Alshvn told Motor1 , 'The video was made with humor in mind. I picked the Altima, Crown Vic, and Impala because of some of the wild things I've seen—both on the road and online. It wasn't meant to offend anybody, just to poke fun at the stereotypes in car culture. I believe that mixing humor with real car talk is part of what makes content like this connect.' Gotta Be Careful With Those Altimas If you aren't already aware, the Nissan Altima is a car that is very negatively stereotyped among the online car community, GT Planet reports. According to the stereotype, you'll see them weaving through traffic at high speeds and blowing red lights, Autopian shares. These reckless maneuvers have earned the car a bad reputation among the car community on Reddit . Nissan Altima drivers have been targeted by meme culture for being bad drivers and having a negative credit score. The viewers on the post also agreed with Alshvn's take. 'Nissan Altima aka the hood hellcat,' one commenter shared. 'Facts I'll pull over anytime I see a Nissan Altima, stay away,' another replied. The Legendary Crown Vic The Ford Crown Victoria was a popular choice for police departments in North America and even won the Best Cop Car Award, Forbes reports. Most police departments parted ways with the Crown Vic in 2011 due to not having Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the International Security Driver Association reports. The end of the era left many Crown Vic Police Inspectors on the streets for everyday drivers to use. Some people dislike the Crown Vic because of its association with the police. The Chevy Impala Fast Lane 'Chevrolet Impala you've convinced yourself it's a luxury car and actually call it that,' a Reddit user roasts. This luxury reputation was partially influenced by rappers in the late 80s and 90s rapping about the mid-60s models. Owning and driving an early to mid-1960s model Impala was viewed as a status symbol, according to a Quora expert. These Impalas were rare and fast, with a beautiful design. Chevy has had multiple Impala models with transmission issues, according to Endurance Warranty. The issues have included transmission failure, slippage, and rough shifting. Mercedes Drops EQ Pricing Before Ending U.S. Production
Mercedes-Benz is cutting prices across the board on its EQ EV models, as the brand prepares for a United States without EV tax credits. Between the 2025 and 2026 model years, prices are down as little as $4150 (for the EQS sedan) to as much as $15,300 (for the EQS SUV). Along with the price cuts, Mercedes is planning to end U.S. production of its EQ models (sans EQB), ahead of the Sept. 30 deadline for EV tax credits. Mercedes-Benz is hosting a fire sale of its electric models in the United States as the reality of a U.S. without EV tax credits continues to draw closer. As the brand struggles to move its egg-shaped EVs in any serious numbers, the brand is drastically cutting prices for the 2026 model year. Between the 2025 and 2026 model years, pricing for the EQ lineup took a nosedive. The EQE sedan and EQE SUV dropped from $76,050 and $79,050, respectively, to $66,100 apiece. The EQS sedan price drop was the least drastic of the bunch, moving from $105,550 in 2025 to $101,400 in 2026. On the other end of the spectrum, the EQS SUV plummeted from $106,400 to $91,100. Andi Hendrick | Car and Driver Between the termination of the federal EV tax credit moving up from the end of the year to September 30 and Mercedes's struggling EV sales, the brand is taking more drastic actions than simple price cuts. According to a report by Mercedes will end production of all four U.S.-market EQ products (excluding the EQB), starting on September 1. "As a company with global activities and more than 30 plants worldwide, including in Alabama and South Carolina, Mercedes-Benz maintains a local-for-local strategy. In doing so, we continuously optimize our production network and use its high flexibility to react quickly to market conditions," the spokesperson told the outlet. Not only is production stopping, but the automaker isn't giving a timeline for bringing manufacturing back online. "Please understand we are unable to share a timeline for when production will resume for competitive reasons. We will share more information when available," the spokesperson said. Michael Simari | Car and Driver Car and Driver reached out to Mercedes-Benz for confirmation on the production stoppage and to ask for clarification on how the upcoming CLA and GLC EV models will be affected, but we have not heard back at the time of publishing. We will update this story if we get a response. Jack Fitzgerald Associate News Editor Jack Fitzgerald's love for cars stems from his as yet unshakable addiction to Formula 1. Mercedes EQ Models Just Got Way Cheaper
Mercedes-Benz went bold with its first dedicated EVs. The EQE and EQS in both sedan and SUV forms featured swoopy, wind-cheating styling that represented a huge break from the Mercedes norm. Customers emphatically rejected them , and now Mercedes is readjusting its approach to EVs, first with a new electric CLA that shares the same body and underpinnings as the gas model. Right now, though, you can get a deal on an EQ. CarBuzz first brought our attention to a now-deleted TikTok video from a Mercedes-Benz dealer employee who revealed big price cuts for 2026 EQ models. A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson confirmed the new MSRPs for the EQ lineup (except the EQB, which is based on the gas-powered GLB). Here's how they compare with their 2025 equivalents, all inclusive of a $1,150 destination charge: Model 2026 Price 2025 Price EQE Sedan $66,100 $76,050 EQE SUV $66,100 $79,050 EQS Sedan $101,400 $105,550 EQS SUV $91,100 $106,400 Some substantial cuts, especially to the SUVs, which are built in Mercedes-Benz's Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant. But all this comes with the caveat that Mercedes will soon indefinitely pause production of all these four models for the US. A Mercedes spokesperson confirmed to Motor1 that US-market EQE and EQS production will come to a halt on September 1st, and the company isn't saying when (or if) production will restart. "As a company with global activities and more than 30 plants worldwide, including in Alabama and South Carolina, Mercedes-Benz maintains a local-for-local strategy. In doing so, we continuously optimize our production network and use its high flexibility to react quickly to market conditions," the spokesperson said. "Please understand we are unable to share a timeline for when production will resume for competitive reasons. We will share more information when available." As our colleagues at InsideEVs point out , the federal tax credit for EVs ends on September 30th, and the US government effectively just ended Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards . Mercedes does have a number of new EVs in the pipeline, though. The CLA is already on sale in Europe and should arrive stateside soon, and both a high-performance AMG four-door and an electric version of the ultra-popular GLC are also on their way. While these 2026 EQ models are substantially cheaper than before, about on par with their gas equivalents, it's tough to say they're a good deal. Depreciation has hit EQ models hard , and it's not difficult to find used EQS sedans, for example, for well under $40,000. So even with $10,000 or more off the MSRP, there's still a lot of money buyers can lose. There are also still unsold 2025 EQ models on dealer lots, and while their MSRPs might be higher, it's not hard to imagine dealers putting money on the hood to get them off their lots.
