Man Builds 1930s Style Race Car
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious The 1930s were a special time within the automotive industry as many new facets of automobile design began influencing production. One of the most recognizable movements in the world of cars was the improvement of performance across the various brands in the industry. From Duesnbergs to BMW, these vehicles were getting faster, lighter, and better looking as engineers were given a lot more leeway in creative design. One event which allowed companies from across the globe to showcase their car's performance was racing which is why it became such a popular sport at the time. Watch the latest Motorious Podcast here. This racing enthusiast decided to take things into his own hands, using his passion for speed to build something extraordinary. While the exterior of his prized driving vehicle looks like an abandoned race car, every piece of this vehicle was built for speed. Under the vehicle sits an original 1930 Nash chassis, a popular choice for any racer during the first golden era of automotive racing. The rest of the car was specifically picked out and even designed by the owner, who worked with someone he described as a 'metal artist' to make the body. Even the side-exit exhaust pipes seem to be bespoke pieces of custom design and engineering that make the car one of a kind. Under the hood is a massive straight-eight engine that produces a pretty hefty power and torque figure fit for any vintage racing course. It all started with one chair fixed to the chassis, eventually leading to a birdcage body and, finally, a fully built racing vehicle. Spinning tires is likely no issue for this classic high-performance race car which is why it has earned its own name and reputation for fun. Deemed 'Dutchie' after the driver's national heritage, this particular hand-crafted sports car has the sort of personality and style which has become rare in today's world of cars. All of this makes it one of the coolest custom vehicles in modern car enthusiast culture, and we hope to see a lot more like it in the years to come.

This Modded Lincoln Town Car Is Confusing
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious When you're sane and looking for a good project car, the whole idea is to find a good jumping-off-point with tons of potential. For example, choosing a car which can handle a lot of power and that has many different aftermarket parts available isn't a bad idea. That's the exact opposite of what this guy did by choosing to modify a Lincoln Town Car. Watch the latest Motorious Podcast here. Everyone's going to have an opinion on this build and they're all probably going to be pretty strong. Yes, this is a polarizing vehicle, but the story is this was the owner's first car and he obviously fell in love with the thing. That's no uncommon and a lot of gearheads start by tinkering around with their first ride, but they eventually cut their losses and upgrade to something better later. Some people will think this guy has wasted a lot of time and money on this Lincoln. After all, he swapped out the automatic transmission and installed a Tremec T56 Magnum to make it more performance-oriented. He's also put on coilovers, done serious work on the interior, installed a performance cam, and made quite a few other tweaks. Even with all those modifications, this is still a land yacht. You have to wonder if this guy put the same amount of time, money, and effort into something like a Ford Mustang what kind of a performance return he would have on his hands. If you ask us, he likes to be weird and different, so a Mustang probably isn't all that appealing. To each his own, we guess. As you're about to learn in the video, This modified Lincoln Town Car isn't just used for cruising or some questionable street racing. No, the owner races it on oval tracks. Would you have the guts to even try something like that? Do you think this guy is a genius or an idiot? Check out the video before drawing a final conclusion.

Police Explorer Challenges Corvette To A Race
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious The cops have been rolling around in some pretty cool cars since the late 1960s. Over time, police cruisers got faster though the civilian models were almost always quicker because of budgetary constraints. Two particular models have been brought to the spotlight for the authority service car industry. While one of these cars, the Charger, has been tested at tracks across the country with exciting results. Ford's Explorer is the second vehicle, and because it's an SUV, the performance attributes are typically overlooked. So what happens when you put a police-issued Ford Explorer up against one of America's best sports cars? How fast does your car have to be to outrun the cops? Watch the latest Motorious Podcast here. One particular officer is determined to find out exactly how fast his service vehicle truly is, and there is no place better to do so than a drag strip. As the Ford explorer creeps up to the line, we get to see precisely what he's going against, which is hilarious. This cop had the ambitious goal of taking on a C7 Corvette Z06 in a head-to-head race, which yielded incredible results. While it's clear that the 'Vette will take home the win, the cop car still boasts either a 3.3-liter V6 or a 3.0-liter Ecoboost. While it's difficult to find information on these particular vehicles, we know that the Ecoboost has an output of 400 horsepower and the V6 sports around 300 horsepower. As the light flashes from yellow to green, the Corvette takes off in a wild display of GM performance and modern engine and drivetrain design. Surprisingly, the Ford Explorer was able to keep up at the very start of the race, likely due to the AWD system. However, the American sports car completed the quarter-mile in just 11.55 seconds, with the Explorer finishing it in 15.78 seconds. That makes the Explorer about two seconds slower than the police Charger and a serious contender for most road cars.

Man Unites With First Corvette After Four Decades
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious Michael Kehoe was ready to buy his first car in 1980, and he was trying to decide between a 1980 Chevy Corvette and a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. He had just graduated high school and had the cash for his first vehicle, and chose the Corvette. After having to sell it for tuition, he never forgot about the car, and finally found it. Watch the latest Motorious Podcast here. 'My dad owned J&J Sheet Metal in Warren,' said Kehoe, who grew up in Sterling Heights. 'I worked there in middle school and high school and saved every penny I earned.' Kehoe got the Corvette red car that had been owned by a GM exec, who drove it for about six months before he bought it. 'It had 2,500 miles when I bought the car,' Kehoe said. 'In 1980, the car was ultra-modern. The T-tops were mirrored. It cost $65 to undercoat the car. It is a four-speed stick shift.' Three years after buying the car, he needed money to enroll in the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and sold the car to pay for the first year of tuition. Selling the car wasn't easy, as he described handing over the keys as being a devastating experience. After 11 years of schooling, he became on Orthodontist, opening Kehoe Orthodontics, and retiring in December 2020. Kehoe got a phone call from his brother, Bob, last summer about a Craigslist post. His brother was certain the post was about the Corvette Michael once owned. Michael was sleeping when the call came in, but he jumped out of bed and checked. After some digging, it was verified to be Michael Kehoe's Corvette. 'I repurchased the car in August of 2021 for the same price I sold it for in 1983. When I found this car, I was like a kid in a candy store. I was so excited,' Kehoe said. 'It's the sentimental value. The sentimental value is priceless.' Kehoe is now very protective of his Corvette, and has a scrapbook of the history of the car. Including himself and the GM exec, the Corvette has had 5 owners and only driven 94k miles.
