US woman with tattoos and nose piercing may be descendent of Queen Victoria's secret lovechild
A Midwestern therapist with a mullet, tattoos and nose piercing may be a descendant of Queen Victoria's secret lovechild, a British historian has claimed. Angela Webb-Milinkovich, a mental-health practitioner from Minnesota, was named as a possible living testament to a scandalous affair between the British monarch and her devoted manservant, John Brown, by historian Fern Riddell. Webb-Milinkovich, who is in her 40s, according to online records, doesn't look like a royal but is prepared to get a DNA test to prove whether she is. 3 Angela Webb-Milinkovich, a healthcare worker in Minnesota, may be a living descendant of Queen Victoria's secret lovechild. bettylooper/Instagram Advertisement 'I feel pretty confident that there's some legitimacy to [the theory],' Webb-Milinkovich told the Times of London. 'It's not something that I myself would ever be able to confirm. 'The story that my family grew up with is that John Brown and Queen Victoria had a romantic relationship,' she said, referring to the loyal aide who the royal matriarch became particularly close to after her husband Prince Albert's death. 'They went on a long boat journey. After that, a child was produced, and from that child came my family's lineage,' Webb-Milinkovich said of Brown and the queen. Advertisement 3 Queen Victoria asked to be buried with a picture of her manservant and suspected lover John Brown. Rumors have swirled that Mary Ann Brown, Webb-Milinkovich's great-grandmother, was their lovechild. Victoria and Brown's closeness sparked rumors in Britain, and in 1866, a Swiss newspaper reported the pair had secretly married. Victoria even dedicated her book on highland life, published after Brown died in 1883, to him and asked to be buried with his picture. Advertisement 3 Brown was suspiciously close to blue-blooded boss Victoria, some historians say. The rumored affair was the subject of the 1997 movie 'Mrs Brown,' which won Dame Judi Dench an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Victoria. Although the alleged affair has been dismissed by many historians, Riddell said she has unearthed new evidence indicating a relationship. The evidence includes a cast of Brown's hand ordered by the monarch in the days after his death, something she had previously done for her late husband. Advertisement A previously secret diary entry from Victoria also describes how she and her 'beloved John' confessed their love for each other. 'Their relationship has been downplayed and sanitized,' Riddell told the Times of London. 'I hope we give John Brown back his place in history and his legacy, which is that he was Victoria's de facto royal consort for 20 years,' said the researcher, author of the book 'Victoria's Secret.'

Plan to build five-bed houses close to Barrhead town centre
An application for planning permission in principle has been submitted to East Renfrewshire Council to build properties on land to the north-east of Dubbs Road. This land is at the rear of Montfort Gate/Montfort Park and opposite Cowan Park. Ramzan Properties hope to construct five detached four or five-bedroom villas that will sit slightly back from Dubbs Road. The application also outlines proposals for associated access roads, the upgrade of an existing access road and the formation of a passing place. It is planned that private driveways will be located to the front of each house offering three spaces each. The applicant's supporting statement said the development will 'promote town centre living' by providing detached family homes minutes away from essential local amenities, education centres and urban greenspace. They also said the development will 'help meet the local housing needs through dwellings that promote healthy lifestyle and wellbeing' and improve on the wider qualities and character of the area.' 'The preservation of trees and the introduction of new trees on site will support homes built in an attractive natural space and assist the surrounding biodiversity of the area,' they added. The application, which is currently awaiting decision, was received by the council in May and validated last week.

New plan revealed for old Toby Carvery building near Glasgow

The purpose of the dog walking area will primarily be to provide a secure place where dogs can go out and relieve themselves. The current application, which is currently awaiting decision, was received and validated by East Renfrewshire Council this month. The old Toby Carvery pictured several years ago (Image: Newsquest) The site previously traded as Brewer's Fayre before later operating as Toby Carvery before its closure in March 2019. Following the closure of the Toby Carvery, a funeral parlour operator intended to occupy the building, and secured planning consent for this change of use at appeal. A lease was agreed with a funeral director company to commence in June 2022, but it is understood that this use was very short lived as the property was returned to the market by May 2024. During 2024, terms were agreed for a new lease of the premises for the branch of the clinic and consent was obtained to allow this change of use. The refit will include five consultation rooms in which minor procedures can be conducted, together with three operating theatres and an associated preparation area. There will also be a separate recovery ward for dogs and cats, together with a reception with waiting areas that are separated for customers with dogs from those with cats. Ancillary facilities will include a conference/lecture room for staff training, administration offices, and staffroom/kitchen areas. Two upstairs rooms will be fitted out to enable staff members to rest between rounds for occasions when an animal must be kept in under supervision overnight.

Mrs Brown's Boys 'based on true events', says Brendan O'Carroll
Brendan O'Carroll has said the storylines for Mrs Brown's Boys are "based on true events". The actor and comedian, 69, who is best known for playing matriarch Agnes Brown in the hit comedy series, will reprise the role in a new miniseries next month. The fifth series, which is due to air on 1 August on RTÉ One and BBC One, follows Mrs Brown as her meddling in the lives of her family and friends takes her on a number of misadventures. Speaking about the new series, O'Carroll said: "Believe it or not, most of the storylines are based on true events that either happened to my family or have been told to me by people about their families. "Everybody has a story, and it's quite common for someone in a family to say in the middle of a family disaster, 'This is like an episode of Mrs Brown's Boys '. "In every episode, there is something that stands out for me. I love being Agnes Brown and I love her family, and her neighbours like Winnie and Birdy." The new series will follow Mrs Brown as she becomes the subject of a podcast, helps Winnie pass her driving test, and becomes the unexpected new member of a book club where she discovers a "passion" for steamy fiction. Mrs Brown's Boys was first broadcast in 2011 and has since transmitted more than 50 episodes, including Christmas specials. The BAFTA-winning series is filmed in front of a studio audience, which O'Carroll described as "essential". He said: "So many times, at the end of rehearsals for a particular episode, our director, Ben Kellett, will say, 'All this needs now is the audience', and he is so right.
