Teen killed, friends hurt in motorcycle crash
SEREMBAN: A Form Three student died and two of his friends were injured when the motorcycles they were riding collided with each other near Jalan Persiaran Nusari 1, Sendayan, early this morning. Seremban deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said the accident occurred at 5.30am, killing Ungku Muhammad Asfa Danish Ungku Mohamad Fairuz, who suffered serious head injuries. "Police received information from members of the Seremban headquarters traffic complaint counter that an accident had occurred involving two motorcycles. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred when a Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle, ridden by a teenager and carrying the victim, was heading from Seremban towards Sendayan. "Their friend, also 15, was riding a CMC Ario motorcycle from the same direction, but was said to have collided with each other before skidding onto a landscape stone in the middle of the road," he said when contacted today. Muhd Amrul said Ungku Muhammad Asfa Danish, who was riding an Ego Avantiz motorcycle and suffered serious head injuries, was confirmed dead at the scene, while the motorcycle rider and the CMC Ario motorcycle were injured in the hands and legs. He said the victim's body was taken to the Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem, while the two injured victims were treated at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here. "Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigating officer, Inspector Syakinah Ahmad at 017-9013429. "The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving," he said. If convicted, the offence carries a jail term of between five and 10 years, a fine of between RM20,000 and RM50,000, and disqualification from holding or obtaining a driving licence for at least five years.

Policeman, 42, seriously injured in hit-and-run
SEREMBAN: A 42-year-old police corporal riding a motorcycle was seriously injured after a vehicle allegedly hit him and fled the scene. The incident happened on Monday along Jalan Bukit Nenas, near Taman Rimbun Indah, close to Seremban. The incident occurred at around 7.55am while the victim, Mohd Fairus Khamis was on his way to work. He is currently stationed at the Rahang Police Station, Utusan reported. Seremban deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said Fairus was riding his Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle alone from Sendayan towards Sungai Ujong when the crash occurred. "Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle lost control after being sideswiped by a passing vehicle. "As a result, the motorcycle veered off to the left side of the road, while the other vehicle fled the scene without stopping," he said in a statement. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including fractured ribs and trauma to the shoulder and head. In separate incident in Pahang, an electrical shop employee was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a car driven by a female army officer who lost control of the vehicle. The crash occurred at KM195.2 of the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) westbound near Kuantan at about 2.40pm on Sunday. The victim, 49-year-old Zakuan Lateh from Selangor died on the spot due to the impact.

Out-of-control Persona hits parked vehicles in Senawang
SEREMBAN: A technician was left counting his losses after two of his cars parked outside his home in Taman Bukit Seri Senawang were struck by an out-of-control vehicle early this morning. The 5.40am incident involved a Toyota Vios, a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Persona. District deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said the Seremban traffic complaint counter received information about the crash at 8.48am. "Preliminary investigations found that the Proton Persona, driven by a 22-year-old man, was coming from the direction of a factory. "The man was on his way home in the same neighbourhood when he is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while avoiding an oncoming car," he said when contacted. Amrul said the out-of-control vehicle rammed into the two parked cars belonging to the resident. "All individuals involved have lodged police reports regarding the incident. The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59)," he added.
