Teen killed, friends hurt in motorcycle crash

SEREMBAN: A Form Three student died and two of his friends were injured when the motorcycles they were riding collided with each other near Jalan Persiaran Nusari 1, Sendayan, early this morning.
Seremban deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said the accident occurred at 5.30am, killing Ungku Muhammad Asfa Danish Ungku Mohamad Fairuz, who suffered serious head injuries.
"Police received information from members of the Seremban headquarters traffic complaint counter that an accident had occurred involving two motorcycles.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred when a Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle, ridden by a teenager and carrying the victim, was heading from Seremban towards Sendayan.
"Their friend, also 15, was riding a CMC Ario motorcycle from the same direction, but was said to have collided with each other before skidding onto a landscape stone in the middle of the road," he said when contacted today.
Muhd Amrul said Ungku Muhammad Asfa Danish, who was riding an Ego Avantiz motorcycle and suffered serious head injuries, was confirmed dead at the scene, while the motorcycle rider and the CMC Ario motorcycle were injured in the hands and legs.
He said the victim's body was taken to the Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem, while the two injured victims were treated at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here.
"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigating officer, Inspector Syakinah Ahmad at 017-9013429.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving," he said.
If convicted, the offence carries a jail term of between five and 10 years, a fine of between RM20,000 and RM50,000, and disqualification from holding or obtaining a driving licence for at least five years.
