Muni Long's controversial take on black women: a response that shook TikTok
Singer-songwriter Muni Long faces backlash after claiming only Black women dislike her personality. Image: Instagram American singer and songwriter Muni Long (real name Priscilla Renea Hamilton) recently found herself at the centre of controversy after making comments that only black women disliked her personality. In a video that circulated online, Long said, 'It's only ever black women that say they don't like my personality. Because I'm being myself, I'm acting just like your raggedy mama and your aunties, but it's something wrong with my personality? Take a look in the mirror, you don't like you.' The fan, who goes by 'NeverStopWithShari' on TikTok, pointed out that black women were instrumental in making her hit song 'Hrs & Hrs' popular and that they have consistently shown her love and support. 'Muni Long was on her live today and let it be known that it's only black women that don't like her. I think it was only black women that supported you too, nobody liked 'Hours and Hours' and all these songs until we liked it,' said Shari in a response video on TikTok. The fan expressed disappointment in the 36-year-old singer's comments, feeling that she was bashing the same women who helped her gain the recognition she has today. The fan's message took a more aggressive tone, warning Long to 'watch what she says' about black women, implying potential consequences if she did not comply. Long took to her TikTok, making it crystal clear that she is not the one to be messed with. The Grammy-award winning artist responded directly to the fan in her video, since she was not able to stitch the original video posted by the phone, questioning the tone and potential threat behind the fan's words. She asked for clarification on what would happen if she did not 'watch' her words, emphasising that she is a grown woman who will not be spoken to in that tone. She asked: 'The first question that I have for you, Ms Shari is … you said 'you better watch what you say' or what?" Additionally, she asserted her maturity and boundaries, stating that she may look young, but will not tolerate disrespect. The exchange highlights a heated debate between Long and a fan, with issues of loyalty, gratitude, and public perception at the forefront. 'I know I look young because I drink water and mind my business, but I'm 36 years old. I'll be 37 in September, I've been grown and taking care of myself for a long time, nobody will talk to me like that,' she added. so muni long just woke up one day and decided to turn on her core audience… — sucka (@suckaworld) May 27, 2025 The controversy has sparked a wider conversation among fans, with many black women expressing offence at the singer's comments. Some have taken to social media to express their frustrations, with a few even saying they will stop streaming her music. ' I can delete her music ASAP, cuz excuse ME?!?!' said TikTok user @Jaguar Mills. Another user, @Coffee, commented: 'Oops, music deleted. Blocked on Spotify.' 'Well, respect goes both ways. Let's not act like middle-aged black women are not haters that raised haters. If you're not one of those black women, why are you offended? Obviously, she's talking to the ones that play in her face,' said TikTok user Virgovibes. It is worth noting that before she was known by her stage name, she had been in the music industry for years, working behind the scenes as a songwriter for notable artists like Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey before launching her own singing career.

Ticketmaster's oops moment: Brandy and Monica's tour sparks fan excitement
Fans excited as Ticketmaster hints at Brandy and Monica's joint tour. Image: Instagram Is a joint tour featuring Brandy Norwood, Monica Arnold, Kelly Rowland, and Muni Long in the works, thanks to a possible Ticketmaster slip-up? Fans are wondering if they will be seeing two of America's R&B icons, Norwood and Arnold, as Ticketmaster spills the beans, revealing tickets that suggest the two stars will tour from November 13. The potential tour has generated significant buzz among fans, who are eagerly awaiting official confirmation from the artists. A screenshot of Ticketmaster revealing 'The Boy Is Mine Tour' has been circulating on X, showing ticket sales for a tour with Norwood and Arnold, featuring Kelly Rowland as well as Muni Long. Although the page was quickly taken down, fans managed to capture screenshots of the alleged tour dates and venues. Despite the slip-up by Ticketmaster, their followers are excited and ready to spend their coins on the tickets. X user @Ohenekwame416 commented: 'Oh man, once the dates are released I'll definitely be there!!!!!' Video Player is loading. According to what the Ticketmaster website was showing before it was removed, the tour will reportedly take off in America, North Carolina, on November 13, with ticket presales beginning on May 28. The excitement surrounding a possible tour with the icons is not entirely new. When the two R&B legends reunited for Ariana Grande's reimagined version of their classic hit 'The Boy Is Mine', fans were overjoyed. A screenshot from Ticketmaster before the information was taken down from their website. Image: X The renewed interest in their music sparked speculation about a potential collaboration, and things took an interesting turn when Ray J (Norwood's brother) suggested in March 2024 that Brandy and Arnold 'make history' by embarking on a joint tour. When Norwood spoke to 'Extra' in an interview, she expressed her enthusiasm for a tour, saying she wants to collaborate with Monica on various projects. 'I hit [Monica] up so much talking about all the things that we could do together — tour, residency, everything. I really want that, Monica!' she said, sending her a message. If the tour does happen, it would be a dream come true for fans who grew up listening to their iconic hits like 'The Boy Is Mine'. Rowland, known for her successful solo career and her time as a member of Destiny's Child, would bring her own brand of R&B to the table. Muni Long, a rising star in the music industry, would add a breath of fresh air and energy to the tour performing her hit single 'Made For Me' None of the artists involved have come out to say anything about the tour as of yet. While details are still scarce, fans are holding onto hope that the tour might actually happen.
