CTV News Vancouver wins 3 Edward R. Murrow awards
The work of CTV News Vancouver journalists has been recognized with three prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards. The Radio Television Digital News Association announced the regional winners of the 2025 Murrow Awards on Friday, with veteran CTV News reporters Michele Brunoro and Penny Daflos among the honorees. Brunoro took home two awards, in the Hard News and News Series categories. She was recognized for an exclusive story on a 13-year-old girl who died at a homeless camp in B.C.'s Fraser Valley, and for a series of stories on a horrific case of child neglect in the province's north. Daflos won the Investigative Reporting award for her coverage of B.C.'s increasing reliance on for-profit nursing agencies. All of the regional honorees will be up for national Edward R. Murrow Awards – named after the legendary U.S. broadcast journalist – which will be handed out in August.

WIVB News 4 wins Murrow Award for ‘Excellence in Video'
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — WIVB News 4 recently won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for 'Excellence in Video' for our December story on the historic Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo. The Edward R. Murrow Awards are announced every year by the Radio Television Digital News Association. They cast the spotlight on local and national stories that uphold the association's ethics while showcasing the importance and impact of journalism on the community. A behind-the-scenes look into the 270-acre cemetery and how it has grown over the past 176 years was brought to local TV screens by the work of anchor and reporter Marlee Tuskes, photojournalist Allison Staebell and senior executive producer Natasha Yurek. The 10-minute piece takes a deep dive into what it takes to run and maintain the cemetery — which is home to 13th President of the United States, Millard Fillmore, famous singer Rick James and the first Black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm — by hearing from the people who do it every day. Forest Lawn is described as a place for people to come home to and a place where stories can live on. News 4 is now being considered in the national Murrow Awards competition. News 8 WROC has won two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). The list was revealed Tuesday morning. received Murrow Awards in the 'Digital' and 'Excellence in Innovation' categories. The digital submission included the station's of coverage of the total solar eclipse — coverage that included several hours of wall-to-wall live reporting preceded by days of unique content previewing the historic, albeit overcast, day. The Excellence in Innovation submission featured Songs from Studio B, an online series by Dan Gross in which he recorded local bands performing at WROC — an effort that required extraordinary amount of time and technology. Both submissions will now be considered for a National Edward R. Murrow Award. 22News I-Team wins regional Murrow Award for ‘Springfield Public Schools camera agreement'
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News I-Team report examining cameras inside Springfield Public Schools has earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award. The I-Team examined the agreement that gave the Police Department's Crime Analysis Unit live access to school cameras in the event of an emergency. When the time came to renew the agreement between the police and the school, at least one School Committee member expressed privacy concerns. I-Team: An inside look at Springfield Public Schools camera agreement The I-Team spoke with Springfield's mayor as well as the city's police and school superintendents to learn how and when the cameras are used, and what city and school leaders did to ease the community's concerns. The regional winners advance to the national competition. Those winners will be announced in August.
