BJP, Congress in pictorial war, trade charges over Pahalgam terror attack response

NEW DELHI: In the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, a pictorial war erupted on Tuesday between the ruling BJP and the Congress. The Congress posted an image of a headless figure with the caption 'Jimedari ke Samay-Gayab,' indirectly criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his perceived delay in taking action against the attack. The BJP responded swiftly and sharply, stating, 'Congress flaunts a headless kurta to echo the extremist's 'Tan Se Sar Juda' slogan, exposing its continuous slide into Muslim League 2.0 — divisive, desperate, and directionless.' The party equated the Congress post with the extremist slogan 'Sar Tan Se Juda,' accusing the opposition of aligning with extremist sentiments. The Congress subsequently deleted the controversial post from the social media platform. The BJP also described Congress leaders as fellow- travellers of Pakistan, asserting in its response post: 'Let Pakistan and its fellow-travellers in @INCIndia threaten all they wish; New India will neither bend nor break. Terror will be met with bullets, not biryani. This is the era of decisive leadership.' Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed the post was designed to signal to Pakistan that the Congress stood with them amid the crisis.

BJP slams Congress over X poster of ‘missing' PM

The BJP Tuesday targeted the Congress over a social media poster, later deleted, that depicted PM Narendra Modi as 'missing' from action in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. The poster on the Congress's X handle, captioned 'zimmedari ke samay Gayab (missing at a time of taking responsibility)', showed a pair of kurta-pyjamas and footwear without the PM's body. This prompted the BJP to claim in a post on X: 'Congress flaunts a headless kurta to echo the extremist 'Sar Tan Se Juda' slogan, exposing its continuous slide into Muslim League 2.0 — divisive, desperate, and directionless. Now that PM Shri @narendramodi has spoken the only language Pakistan understands, Islamabad's official handles are parroting the same beheading cry, laying bare their jihadist creed.' The Congress handle deleted the post after the row flared up. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh asked the Congress if it had become 'a PR wing' for Pakistan. 'In moments of national pain, Congress turns into a party of a hundred voices, each more disconnected from national interest than the last. The question now is simple – whose side is the Congress on?' BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, dubbing the party 'Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress', alleged that it was under the direction of Rahul Gandhi that 'certain posts are made, posts that not only shame the nation but also deeply hurt its people'. 'This is part of Congress' attempt to weaken India at a critical time and send signals to Pakistan… The ideology of 'Sar tan se juda' reflects not only Pakistan's mindset but also aligns with that of the Congress,' he said.
