Splash Lagoon to host special Mother's Day weekend event
(WJET/WFXP) – A local water park is showing their appreciation for women in the community. On Saturday, May 10, Splash Lagoon will host a special Mother's Day event to celebrate the important women in our lives. Erie Philharmonic presents new Beatles themed multimedia show The event will feature a VIP ice cream social, princess dance party and moms will receive free admission into the park on Mother's Day. General manager Ryan Cherry spoke about why the park is hosting the event. Shelter animals strut their stuff at Erie Humane Society's fourth annual Mutt Gala 'It's our way of showing appreciation for all the amazing moms who bring joy to their families. Shelter animals strut their stuff at Erie Humane Society's fourth annual Mutt Gala
The fourth annual Mutt Gala made a return to the Bayfront Convention Center Saturday evening. The event was hosted by the Erie Humane Society. Autism Society of NWPA hosts 24th annual Walk for Autism The theme of this year's gala is a 'Diamond in the Ruff,' with ten dogs strutting down the aisle in tuxedos and dresses accompanied by staff members. The gala is the premier fundraiser for the Humane Society and allows people to support the shelter, as well as enjoy dinner and a dog fashion show. Polish Falcons of America's 85th annual bowling tournament makes return to Erie 'I really think it's a good way for people to come out, socialize and also support the shelter. It's a great way, maybe some people aren't looking to adopt, and this is a way that they can help the shelter by buying a ticket and enjoying the evening,' said Brian Carroll, director of community relations at the Erie Humane Society. Local kids learn all about agriculture at North East's annual Community Agra Fun Day
Kids in North East got to learn all about farming on Saturday. The Erie County Farm Bureau and the North East Community Fair hosted its annual Community Agra Fun Day at the North East High School. Shelter animals strut their stuff at Erie Humane Society's fourth annual Mutt Gala There were 30 different stations for the children to learn hands-on about different aspects of agriculture. Some of the highlights were the baby goats, free trees and plants and various food tastings. Flagship City Comedy Festival's weekend performers left patrons in stitches 'We need to teach agriculture to the community, and if we fail, that's our fault as adults and as educators. Okay. Children need to know where their food comes from and what better way to do than put us all together… Come with mom and dad, brother and sister, or you can try a lot of the product,' said Nick Mobilia, with the Erie County Farm Bureau. Humane society brings back designer purse, cash bingo
Hundreds of Erie residents showed their support for animals in need at a fundraiser event Sunday afternoon. The Erie Humane Society brought back its designer purse and cash prize bingo in a sold-out event at Waldameer's Rainbow Gardens. Nearly 500 bingo players tried their luck at scoring one of the many Coach, Michael Kors and other designer handbags as well as other cash prizes and basket raffles. The money raised will benefit animals at the erie humane society who are looking for a new home. 'We treat them like our family until they find their forever families, and we have a small team, but we have a very dedicated team, and it takes a group effort to make a fundraiser like this happen, and every person who is here today is a huge part of that success,' said Emily McCullor, co-interim executive director of the Erie Humane Society.
