Legendary 00s band announce huge tour after cancelling Glastonbury slot

Deftones have announced a mammoth UK and EU tour just weeks after cancelling their set at Glastonbury Festival at the last moment. The iconic 00s metal band will kick off their run of UK shows on February 12 in Birmingham before performing in Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, and Cardiff, ending in London on February 20. The tour comes in support of the band's upcoming album, Private Music, which is their first release in five years. They marked the tour news with the release of a brand new single, My Mind is a Mountain, the first song from their upcoming tenth studio album. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on July 18, while fans who pre-order private Music from the band's official UK/EU store will get early access. Denzel Curry and Drug Church will support Deftones on all shows of their UK and EU tour. It comes after the My Own Summer hitmakers were forced to cancel their appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival due to illness. In a statement shared on their Instagram Story, they said: 'In an unfortunate development, an illness in the band is going to prevent us from playing Glastonbury tonight. 'We're devastated to be missing out on something we've been looking forward to for months, but sometimes circumstances out of our control interfere with things we want to do the most.' Their show the following day at Crystal Palace Park, supported by the likes of Weezer, went ahead as planned. Skepta stepped in to replace the band at the Worthy Farm event. Deftones – made up of vocalist Chino Moreno, lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter, and drummer Abe Cunningham, and keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado – formed in Sacramento, California, in 1988 and went on to release their debut album Adrenaline in 1995, featuring singles 7 Words and Bored. 29 – Adidas Arena, Paris 30 – Forest National, Brussels 1 – Barclays Arena, Hamburg3 – Zenith, Munich5 – Atlas Arena, Lodz6 – Max-Schmeling-Halle, Berlin7 – Westfalenhalle, Dortmund9 – Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, Stuttgart,10 – AFAS Live, Amsterdam12 – BP Pulse Live, Birmingham13 – OVO Hydro, Glasgow14 – Co-Op Live, Manchester16 – 3Arena, Dublin18 – Utilita Arena, Cardiff 20 – The O2, London The word-of-mouth success of the release was amplified by the band's second studio release, Around the Fur, which became their first album to be certified both gold and platinum by the RIAA. White Pony was released in 2000, featuring lead single Change (In the House of Glies) which remains Deftones' most commercially successful single, peaking at number three on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, and number nine on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. More Trending Elite, which also featured on the album, won a Grammy Award for best metal performance. Tragedy hit the band in 2008 when original bass player Chi Cheng was involved in a traffic collision, which left him in a minimal state of consciousness until his death in 2013. Deftones recruited Sergio Vega to replace Cheng, appearing in recorded work as well as touring with the band until his departure in 2021. The band has released nine studio albums, with 2020's Ohms going on to be nominated for a Grammy Award and receiving overwhelming critical praise. Got a story? Deftones fans have been left puzzled after a cryptic message appeared during their London performance over the weekend. The message, reading 'private music,' looks to indicate that new material from the alternative giants is on it's way. But will it be a release later this month or a bigger release come October 2025? Despite pulling out of their eagerly anticipated performance at Glastonbury Festival , alternative metal giants Deftones wowed fans during their London show on Sunday (June 29) The band admitted that a health issue prevented the band from performing at Worthy Farm, but more than made up for it during their Crystal Palace show , but talk was more about a cryptic message that appeared on video screens both before and after their performance had finished. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The image, as seen on social media, shows the words 'Private Music' followed by a date in roman numerals and mentioning new music: that date read which works out as 10.07.2025. Are Deftones set to release new music in July or October 2025, as fans at their Crystal Palace shows were met with the cryptic announcement? | Getty Images/X That date could be July 10 2025, however owing to how the United States usually prefaces their dates with the month before the day, that could also indicate new music could be released on October 7 2025. Should the release be a single, the July 10 date would fall on a Monday, when numerous singles see their release, meanwhile if it is indeed the October date, that would fall on a Friday - a day usually reserved for album releases. Any release of new material would come five years after the release of Deftones last album, 2020's Ohms , which peaked at number five on both the Billboard and UK album charts upon release. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Deftones are currently completing their Europe tour, with their final show on July 6. They'll then have a break before their North American leg begins on August 22. This gap could give the band time to potentially release and rehearse new material before hitting the road again in support of whatever new material they release. What did Deftones perform at their Crystal Palace show over the weekend? CONCERTS: Deftones at Rogers Aug. 24, 54-40, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings top Beaumont Music Fest June 20-21

Sacramento indie metal kings Deftones have extended their tour right to our doorstep, playing Rogers Place on Aug. 24. The innovative and experimental band sometimes dubbed the 'Radiohead of metal' has in its 37 years strayed into everything from trip hop to funk, dream pop to psychedelia, but is best known for the soupy, slow-burn Change (In the House of Flies), the wispy then face-kick thrash of My Own Summer, the swirly-drunken Mascara and of course that bikini album cover of 1997's stratosphere-rising Around the Fur, followed by White Pony in 2000 — which netted the band a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the song Elite. With nine albums, they've sold over 10 million albums around the world, streamed 8.3 billion times. Frontman Chino Moreno, guitarist Stephen Carpenter and drummer Abe Cunningham are all childhood friends and Deftones OGs still with the band for those into endurance and continuity, which can likely be attributed at least in part to the fact the band never stays exactly in one place, always willing to push into strange new dimensions. Keyboardist Frank Delgado has also been around since guesting way back on the first album. Phantogram and The Barbarians of California open the show up, general on-sale tickets 10 a.m. Monday, with pre-sales 10 a.m. Friday. Meanwhile, Beaumont Music Festival has announced the lovely Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and iconic Canadian rock band 54-40 as its Friday and Saturday night headliners. Taking place in Beaumont's Four Seasons Park June 20 and 21 — same weekend as North Country Fair up by Driftpile and Sled Island down in Calgary — BMF in its 18th iteration claims the title of longest-running 100 per cent all-Canadian music festival. Friday will also feature Five Alarm Funk, Jeremy Fisher and Shaguar. Saturday — a CanRock celebration — will see The Grapes of Wrath, ODDS and RadioActive join the fun. More info and passes — $139 for the whole weekend — are waiting for you at fgriwkowsky@ @ You can also support our journalism by becoming a digital subscriber.
