One of the world's biggest boybands confirm reunion talks this summer

It appears BTS's years-long hiatus could be coming to an end. The South Korean boy band formed in 2010 and rocketed to K-pop and ultimately global stardom with their hits including Dynamite, My Universe, and Boy With Luv. But due to the country's military service law – where all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 must serve for up to two years – members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook were forced on hiatus in 2022 following their meteoric rise to fame. In the UK, BTS – one of the best-selling bands of all time – have had two number one albums with Map of the Soul: Persona and Map of the Soul: 7 hitting the top spot in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Given their global superstar status and contribution to South Korea's global recognition, the group were allowed to defer their service until they turned 30. Now, as Chicken Noodle Soup hitmaker J-Hope has completed his mandatory 18-month stint of military service, he's given fans fresh hope of a reunion at long last. J-Hope, who is the second of two members of the band to have finished his service after Jin, told Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe: 'We will quickly get together and talk about what BTS can do in the future. I think it's going to be a massive energy… 'I look forward to June when our members will have completed their service.' While members have repeatedly warned fans not to turn up to their military bases, many have defied the band's wishes and flocked to catch a glimpse of the famous members. However, K-pop-crazed fans won't have to bother officials for much longer, as Suga, RM, V, Jungkook and Jimin are expected to all be discharged from service in June. All seven members of the group have released solo projects during the band's two-year hiatus and J-Hope thinks it has helped them all establish their own identities. He said: 'I think that over time, we each refined our unique identities as each of us work on their own music, come out with their solo projects and do their own thing. 'The funny thing for me is when our identities, which have taken shape in various ways, come together as BTS. 'I'm curious to see how [the reunion] will look like.' More Trending The On the Street singer felt proud of his time in the military and learned a lot from it. He said: 'I think it's only natural for young people in South Korea to take on this responsibility. I thought it was a very important part of J-Hope's, or Jung Ho Seok's, life. 'It's a different experience, also, in reality, I've learned a different life. And in many ways, I got to meet people from all walks of life and I received a lot of good energy. And I heard a lot of good things. 'But also, you know, a year and a half is actually not a very short time. That bit made me feel a lot of things. In the end, I think the most important thing was I realised how important the work I've been doing for all these years is incredibly meaningful to me.' Got a story? The combined performance by Coldplay and Jin of BTS ignites social media

KOREA: As reported by Allkpop, the partnership between BTS's Jin and Coldplay is igniting social media. Photo: Instagram/Coldplay Coldplay's been on this massive 'Music of the Spheres' tour since Apr 16. They kicked things off in Korea. Yesterday, they shared cool photos and videos from the tour on their Twitter and Instagram accounts. Coldplay shared two special photos, among the many photos of guest performers, of BTS's Jin, and two videos. One of them showed Chris Martin just vibing with the audience, getting everyone to sing along—you know how he does! The other video was sweet: It caught the moment when Chris and Jin were on stage, just jumping around and laughing together. You could see they were good friends, having a blast up there. It was a nice glimpse into their friendship. Special guest Jin popped up as a special guest with Coldplay on Apr 19, a nd then, he joined them again for their very last show in Korea on Apr 25. When Jin joined Coldplay on stage, he didn't just stand there! He performed 'My Universe,' which is a song BTS did together with Coldplay. He also sang 'The Astronaut,' which is his own solo song that he helped write, and he even created the music with Coldplay. Jin received a lot of accolades for captivating the public and fans with his strong vocals and breathtaking looks. Great collaboration Chris Martin was lovely about the whole collaboration with Jin. He kept mentioning that it was Jin's idea for them to work together! During the show, Chris was warm, thanking Jin for introducing Coldplay to BTS, for being such a kind person, and for singing with them that night. He added that he'll always love Jin. Both Jin and Coldplay share a close bond. Back in 2021, BTS was in New York for a trip. Jin complimented Chris Martin's guitar, and Chris then gifted Jin the guitar, which he had been using for more than 10 years. Prior to their Seoul concert, Coldplay hinted at Jin's upcoming arrival. After Coldplay wrapped up their last show in Hong Kong, they posted on Twitter on Apr 13, saying how amazing it was. Then, they hinted at their next stop, Seoul, and included a picture of Jin's character, Wootteo. It's sweet because, as a sign of their friendship, Coldplay has been bringing that Wootteo plushie along to every single concert they've done since Jin gave it to them back in 2022. Shout-out to Jin and Seoul After Jin showed up at that concert in Seoul on April 19, Coldplay was so touched that the very next day, they put up a post online. It was he and Chris Martin singing together. In their message, they were super appreciative, thanking Jin for joining them and even giving a shout-out to Seoul. They said they'd never forget those moments and added a purple heart at the end—so sweet! Then, Jin himself hopped on his Instagram a couple of days later, on Apr 26, and talked about how amazing Coldplay's friendship is and how incredible their performance together was. It went viral all over the world. It just goes to show how famous and influential both of them are.

Will Rosé Beat Lady Gaga And Make History?

Rosé's "Apt" holds steady at No. 2 on Billboard's Adult Pop Airplay chart, with a real chance to ... More soon make history as the first K-pop act to top the ranking. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 14: Rosé aka Roseanne Park MBE is seen in Midtown on October 14, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by TheStewartofNY/GC Images) Rosé has been setting Billboard records left and right throughout the past several months, and it doesn't look like she's finished just yet. The Blackpink singer's collaboration with Bruno Mars, "Apt.," first became a massive streaming and sales win upon its release — and even months after it debuted, the smash is still performing exceptionally well on the airwaves in America. "Apt." stands a real chance at helping Rosé make even more history, if it can rise just one more spot. This week, "Apt." holds at No. 2 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart. That tally, for those unfamiliar, tracks the biggest hits across U.S. pop radio stations that skew toward a more mature sound, often called "adult pop." The track's current placement is still its all-time peak, but it's knocking on the door of even greater success. For now, the Adult Pop Airplay chart is still ruled by Lady Gaga and Mars' "Die With a Smile," which has proved to be a true juggernaut. The pair's hit has now spent 35 weeks on the tally and has controlled the No. 1 spot for eight of them. That said, "Die With a Smile" is no longer brand new, and all hits eventually start to slow down. "Apt.," however, has only spent 24 frames on the Adult Pop Airplay list so far. With perhaps more momentum and plenty of life left in it, Rosé could soon capitalize if Mars and Gaga's grip weakens. It might not happen next week — or even the next few frames — but "Apt." has a genuine shot at reaching No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart. If it does, Rosé will make history once again, becoming the first K-pop artist to lead this specific radio ranking. K-pop acts hitting No. 1 on Billboard's radio tallies remains an incredibly rare feat. Despite the genre's worldwide popularity, U.S. radio has traditionally been tougher to crack. Rosé has done it before on another tally, and she's hoping to add another honor to her growing collection. Even if "Apt." never climbs higher, it's already the most successful cut by a K-pop musician in Adult Pop Airplay history. Weeks ago, Rosé and Mars's collaboration overtook BTS and Coldplay's "My Universe," which peaked at No. 8, to claim the title of the highest-charting K-pop hit on this roster. "Apt." has now spent more time on the Adult Pop Airplay chart than "My Universe," BTS's "Dynamite," as well as Fifty Fifty's "Cupid," each of which stuck around for just 20 frames. Across Billboard's three pop radio charts, "Apt." also claims the record as the highest-rising K-pop song. It's tied for that honor on the Adult Contemporary roster, where it matched the No. 16 peak set by both "Dynamite" and "My Universe." On the Pop Airplay chart — perhaps the most competitive radio tally Billboard publishes — "Apt." stands alone as the only song by a K-pop act to ever reach No. 1.
