Texas A&M softball picks up another SEC series win over Missouri during the weekend

Texas A&M softball picks up another SEC series win over Missouri during the weekend No. 1 Texas A&M (39-6, 13-4 SEC) secured another SEC series victory after beating Missouri (23-26, 4-14 SEC) 2 out of 3 games at the Mizzou Softball Stadium over the weekend. The Aggies escaped Missouri with a series win after a tough three-game series against a scrappy Tigers team on the road. This past weekend proved that rankings and records mean nothing in the SEC, with every weekend being a dogfight. Due to inclement weather warnings, A&M started off the weekend with a doubleheader, with the series wrapping up on Friday. Game 1 The series started with an Aggie 7-5 win that required a comeback victory that was started by a single by Amari Harper while down 4-5 in the top of the seventh inning. An error allowed Mya Perez to take first base, then a double by Koko Wooley to tie the game. Allie Enright followed that up with a double of her own, scoring two for a 7-5 lead late in the game, and Emiley Kennedy retired the 3 of the last 4 batters to win Game 1. Game 2 This was a much closer contest that went into extra innings. A&M knocked in three runs, taking a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Tigers, being the tough team they are, scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to tie, extending the game. After a scoreless eighth, Harper hit a solo home run that proved to be the game winner after Kennedy shut down the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth to win the series. Game 3 A&M was never in this game from the beginning, with the Tigers jumping out to an early 4-0 lead. The Aggies squandered a bases-loaded no-out opportunity in the top of the third inning, only coming away with one run, leaving three stranded on base. The very next inning, Missouri tacked on two more runs to go up 6-1, then they finished the Aggies off in the fifth inning with three more runs, run-ruling the Aggies in the final game of the series. Even though the Aggies suffered an embarrassing loss, leaving 10 runners on base, they still took a tough road series against a team that played just as well against Texas and Oklahoma. However, coach Trisha Ford will have a lot to say to her team after this series. It exposed some areas they need to clean up with a solid midweek opponent and two top-ten conference series left on the schedule. Texas A&M will face Louisiana in the last midweek game of the season on April 22 at 5:00 p.m. CT at Davis Diamond. The game will be streamed on the SEC Network. Texas A&M Softball is a top consensus top-three team following an undefeated week The Texas A&M softball team went 3-0 during the week, culminating in a series victory over the Georgia Bulldogs at Jack Turner Stadium during the weekend. Texas A&M's softball team made waves with their stellar performance this week, kicking things off with a commanding run-rule victory over Prairie View A&M. They then headed to Athens, Georgia, to face the Bulldogs in a competitive conference series. Weather concerns led to a doubleheader on Saturday, where the Aggies dominated Game 1 with an 8-0 run-rule win.
