No. 1-ranked Texas A&M (47-10) will face Liberty (49-12) for a second time on Sunday afternoon on day three of the Bryan-College Station regional at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M dominated Marist with a 17-4 run-rule victory, marking their fifth in six games. A&M jumped to an early lead before exploding in the fourth, highlighted by back-to-back solo homers from Mya Perez and Mac Barbara and a grand slam by Amari Harper. Marist managed two runs in the fifth, but A&M sealed the win with a Mac Barbara RBI single. Now, the Aggies face Liberty in the regional final, aiming to keep their momentum alive.
The Red Flames sent the No. 1-seeded team to the elimination round in the second game. Liberty is no stranger to knocking off higher seeds, and this is the second year in a row that they have advanced to the regional final. They only need to win one of two games to move on to the Super Regional round, putting all the pressure on the Aggies.

San Francisco running back Ameer Abdullah placed on injury reserve

Former Husker Ameer Abdullah hit a bump in the road following his first preseason game of 2025. The San Francisco 49ers placed the veteran running back on injured reserve on Monday. Abdullah suffered a rib injury in the team's loss to the Denver Broncos on Saturday, where he took the field on offense and kickoff return. He finished with four carries for 20 yards and returned one kickoff for 22 yards. However, he fumbled in the third quarter, which also resulted in his injury. Abdullah joined the 49ers in late July, but will now be forced to miss the 2025 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. The 2015 second-round pick played in 141 career games, earning 26 starts with the Detroit Lions, before joining the Minnesota Vikings, the Carolina Panthers, and the Las Vegas Raiders. In his career, he's tallied 1,994 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. He also hauled in 1,468 yards and 11 touchdowns. Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 24: a history of the number and who wore it best

The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we're at 24 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 24 and the players who wore it best. Current Steelers No. 24 wearer: CB Joey Porter Jr. Son of legendary Pittsburgh defender Joey Porter, Joey Porter Jr. is the current No. 24 wearer on the Steelers roster. Selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Porter quickly became one of the Steelers' most dependable lockdown corners. Teaming with the newly acquired Darius Slay and Jalen Ramsey to form the NFL's best trio of cornerbacks, the sky is the limit in Year 3 for JPJ. Last five Steelers to wear No. 24: Best No. 24 in Steelers history: CB Ike Taylor The greatest No. 24 in Steelers history is undoubtedly CB Ike Taylor — a steady presence at cornerback for one of the most feared defenses in franchise history. Selected with the 125th pick in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, Taylor saw early usage as a kick returner before eventually taking over the starting outside cornerback role opposite Deshea Townsend in 2005. In his 12-year Steelers tenure, the outspoken Taylor produced 14 interceptions over the span of 174 games — winning two Super Bowl titles along the way. He retired in 2015, leaving a legacy marked by consistency over individual accolades — the hallmark of a great team player and arguably the best Steeler to ever wear No. 24. Sean Payton doesn't seem to be a big fan of doing two joint practices

The Denver Broncos agreed to a pair of joint practices this summer, one on the road against the San Francisco 49ers and a second at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Practicing with two different teams in one summer was a first for coach Sean Payton. "This is the first time for me, and for us, where [we have] back-to-back joint practices," Payton said Tuesday. "And so, when you have a joint practice, you lose a day -- like the day prior, you gotta be smart. The day after [is a walk-through]. So it can … when you get the calendar at the start of preseason, you lay it out and you see when your games are, there's three of them. And when you add a joint practice, it's a little different the day before and the day after. "So, when you have two of them, it can cut into maybe your installation and your normal training camp routine. So, the first time for us to do two, we'll see if we ever do it again. I'm used to really one either Week 2 or Week 3. So what was different was Week 1. And that's just one of those things you make a note of." Payton did not directly say he wouldn't do two again, but he certainly seemed to imply it. Payton also wasn't a fan of how long the 49ers practice lasted. "Thursday's practice was pretty long, maybe a little longer than I would've liked, and then the turnaround and then the game on Saturday," Payton said, perhaps hinting that this week's joint practice won't be as long. After a pair of joint practices over the last week, Denver's starters might not play as much on Saturday as they did in Week 2 of preseason last summer. 'It may," Payton said when asked if the joint practices will impact how much starters play. "It may because, again, this is a first. Normally, I would go into the second quarter. I don't know that I'm going to do that based on the schedule. We'll see.' Saturday's game will be nationally televised on NFL Network (and available on these TV channels).
