No arrests have been made, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear. The ANC in the Dullah Omar Region expressed shock at the killing. Chairperson Ndithini Thyido said Magibisela was a dedicated activist and community organiser. 'We are also outraged by the senseless killing of its Ward 96 convenor Myolisi Magibisela, who was gunned down at his home in Hlanga Crescent in Makhaza on Monday,' said Thyido. 'Comrade Magibisela is the type of all-round community activist that the ANC so desperately needs to drive its renewal programme. The ANC urges all its members and supporters in the ward, in Khayelitsha, and the region to remain calm and allow the SAPS to leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.' Long-time colleague and fellow activist Bulelani Qolani said he was devastated by the news and described Magibisela as someone who had dedicated his life to serving others. 'I am deeply hurt and shocked about this murder. I still cannot believe this has happened. I worked closely with him,' said Qolani. 'Magibisela was an activist who loved serving his community. He was a soldier who died in the war. Those are the consequences of being an activist, of a man who refused to sit back and watch his community fall apart. 'He fought for people's basic human rights. I knew him as a passionate, approachable, family man. He was married with children. He was with us when we moved to the eThembeni informal settlements. 'I have faith in our station commander, who promised to work on this case. We look forward to hearing what the motive for this murder was.' Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS mobile application. Callers may remain anonymous.
