Several heads and officials of the sports federations whose championships were held during the twelfth edition of the tournament praised the organizational atmosphere, the results, and the tournament's impact on developing Emirati sports. Engineer Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the UAE and Asian Fencing Federations, emphasized that the NAS Sports Tournament has become a prominent landmark in the UAE sports agenda and a major annual event in the Fencing Federation's calendar, thanks to its continuous development and the increasing demand for participation in its competitions. This reinforces its position as one of the largest community sporting events in the region. Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi noted that the participation of more than 80 male and female players from 13 countries in the tournament's fencing competitions reflects the advanced level reached by the tournament, emphasizing the significant technical and promotional impact it has had in expanding participation in various sports, including fencing. 'By organizing the fifth edition of the fencing championship as part of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, which enjoys a large public following, we have succeeded in attracting the interest of many members of the community in this sport.' Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi emphasized that the UAE Fencing Federation attaches special importance to this tournament because it provides unique opportunities for local players to interact with elite international champions. He pointed out that the tournament's prestigious status at the Arab, regional, and international levels, in addition to the distinguished financial prizes, make it an ideal destination for competition and sports development. Major General Dr. Mohammed Al Murr, President of the UAE Athletics Federation, emphasized that the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament represents a fundamental pillar in supporting and promoting athletics, as the road running competitions have succeeded in attracting a large number of participants of various nationalities, including Emiratis and residents. This success reflects the tireless efforts of the tournament organizers to instill a culture of sports and make it a way of life, with a focus on promoting and developing athletics as one of the cornerstones of competitive sports. Major General Al Murr emphasized the federation's commitment to harnessing all its capabilities to ensure the event's success, emphasizing that the partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and all sports and community entities represents the cornerstone in achieving the Federation's strategic objectives. Noura Al Jasmi, President of the UAE Badminton Federation, confirmed the success of the badminton competitions held during the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, which witnessed a large participation of male and female players from both UAE nationals and various nationalities residing in the country. The UAE Badminton Federation President highlighted the Federation's rapid progress since its establishment two and a half years ago, marking its inclusion in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament as a major milestone alongside other key achievements. She emphasized that featuring badminton in the tournament strengthens its local presence and aligns with the Federation's development plan to expand player participation nationwide. Expressing gratitude to Sheikh Hamdan bin, she praised the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament as a premier event that fosters a sports culture, enhances talent development, and provides athletes with high-level competitive opportunities. She also noted that badminton has greatly benefited from this participation, which supports the "Road to Los Angeles 2028" initiative. Launched by the UAE Badminton Federation, the initiative aims to prepare and qualify Emirati players for the 2028 Olympics, advancing the sport's national and international standing. Dr. Huda Al Matrooshi, President of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation, praised the high level of organizational procedures and the exceptional atmosphere witnessed at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, which has become a model to be emulated in the world of sports. Moroccan athletes reign supreme in road races at NAS Sports Tournament

Moroccan runners dominated nearly all categories at the road running races held as part of the 12th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, late on Saturday. By far, the largest sports competition of its kind launched and sponsored by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and held annually during the holy month of Ramadan, Saturday's racing was held at the Meydan Racecourse as one of the NAS Sports Tournament events conducted under the directives of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, under the slogan 'Limitless Capabilities'. The road runs were a huge success with more than 4,300 athletes participating in various categories. The running race night was attended by Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, and Faris Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the UAE National Olympic Committee, who signalled the start of the men's 5km race. Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, and member of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Sports Council, gave the starting signal for the women's 5km race, while Adel Darwish, member of the UAE Athletics Federation, gave the starting signal for the 4km race. The races were also attended by Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Hassan Al Mazrouei, Director of the NAS Sports Tournament and Adel Al Bannai, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the tournament. Hogging the limelight were a clutch of runners from Morocco with Yasser Al Shashoui leading a clean sweep for the North African nation while winning the men's 10km race in a time of 27.52 minutes, while countrywoman Ruqayya Al Mazrouei won the women's 10km race with a time of 38.36 minutes. Shashoui was followed by countryman Mohammed Ait Mammas Touda (27.52 mins) and Ismail Al Kharshi (28.02). In the 10km race for female citizens, Al Mazrouei finished in a time of 38.36 minutes, and was followed by Alia Al Shamsi (40.50 minutes) and Fatima Al Shamsi (42.30 mins). The 10km race for male citizens also witnessed the presence of Africans on the podium with Abdul Karim Tiki Abdul Rahman winning first place with a time of 28.15 minutes, followed by Obaid Al Nuaimi in second place (30.21 mins), and Abdullah Surour Khamis Jumaa came in third place (30.51 mins). Morocco further sealed their superiority on the night in the 10km race for the open women's category with Rokia Al Moqim winning top place with a time of 34.37 minutes, followed by another Moroccan Wafaa Zeroual (35.19 mins), while Belgium's Liesbeth Verheyden came in third with a time of 35.45 minutes. The runners from Morocco further asserted their supremacy in the shorter distance as well with Hamid Al Moalla winning the 5km national men's category in a time of 15.41 minutes, followed by Abdullah Al Hadrami in second place (15.55 mins) and Mahmoud Saleh Al Naqbi in third (16.05). In the 5km race for the open men's category, Moroccan Amin Souida won first place (14.45 mins), followed by Kenyan Victor Kiprono Korir (15.08 mins), and Uganda's Guido Grace Okadabau in third (15.16 mins). Hessa Al Jasmi won first place for national women with a time of 23.48 minutes, followed by Hamda Al Ali (24.08 mins) and Fatima Saeed Juma Saeed in third (25.00 mins). The 5km race for the open women's category was won by Poland's Emilia Mangilinan in a quick time of 22.11 minutes, followed by Morocco's Wiam Al Fathi (22.13 mins) and Russia's Alisa Petrova (22.18 mins). Frenchman Jean-Claude Haramburi claimed the top spot in the 5km senior citizens and residents race in a time of 16.58 minutes, followed by Moroccan Mubarak Rayhan (18.32 mins), and Emirati Salem Atiq Saeed Al Muhairi (19.36 mins).

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF), in cooperation with Dubai Sports Council, has joined forces once again to organise this year's NAS Sports Jiu-Jitsu Tournament 2025 as part of the 12th edition of the NAS Sports Tournament. Set to take place on March 5 and 6 at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai, the event is a key fixture in the Ramadan sports calendar in the UAE. The NAS Sports Tournament is one of the country's largest multi-sport events held during the holy month, featuring 11 disciplines and drawing top athletes across different age groups. This year's jiu-jitsu competition has seen a massive response, with over 400 male and female athletes registering to compete, underscoring the sport's growing popularity in the UAE. The championship brings together top athletes from leading clubs and academies, with competitors across three divisions: teens (14–15 years), youth (16–17 years), and adults (18+). Fans can expect high-level contests as participants push their limits in pursuit of victory, while families and supporters will have the chance to witness intense matchups and cheer for their athletes. The action kicks off on Wednesday with the teen and youth divisions, followed by the adult category on Thursday. The tournament will showcase some of the finest talent in the local scene, reinforcing jiu-jitsu's rapid development in the UAE. The event, which takes place annually at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex during Ramadan, features 11 sports competitions, including volleyball, padel, jiu-jitsu, fencing, wheelchair basketball, running, cycling, tug of war, obstacle challenge, and two newly added events: badminton and the laser run (running & shooting). Registration deadline: February 14, 2025. Features three competitions and six categories, including UAE Padel Federation competitions and the Nad Al Sheba Open. Governed by International Padel Federation rules. Running Competition: Scheduled for the 7th of Ramadan. Registration deadline: March 3, 2025. Includes 10 km, 5 km, and 4 km races for various age and skill categories. Managed under UAE Athletics Federation regulations. Cycling Competition: 74 km race on the 14th & 15th of Ramadan. Registration deadline: March 9, 2025. Open to local and international participants aged 19 and above. Features multiple categories, including professional, amateur, and people of determination. Fencing Competition: Takes place on the 2nd & 3rd of Ramadan at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. Registration deadline: February 27, 2025. Open to local and international fencers. Governed by International Fencing Federation rules. Badminton Competition: Scheduled for the 8th & 9th of Ramadan. Registration deadline: March 3, 2025. Features 13 categories, including Emirati, international, and Special Olympics divisions. Matches follow Badminton World Federation regulations. Jiu-Jitsu Competition: Takes place on the 5th & 6th of Ramadan. Registration deadline: February 27, 2025. Open to local and international competitors in five belt categories. Organized under Jiu-Jitsu International Federation rules. Tug of War Competition: Runs from the 11th to the 18th of Ramadan. Registration deadline: February 27, 2025. Gulf Today, Staff Reporter The Higher Organizing Committee of NAS Sports Tournament has ratified the programme of the various competitions of the 12th edition of the Tournament. NAS Sports Tournament will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE, and organized as per the directives of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. NAS Sports Tournament is the biggest of its kind and the most eminent community sports event that takes place at Nad Al-Sheba Sports Complex during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Participants in the 12th edition of the Tournament will compete in 11 disciplines including volleyball, padel, jujitsu, fencing, wheelchair basketball, running, cycling, tug of war, obstacle challenge. The two competitions added to the tournament are badminton and shooting. The tournament aims to provide a comprehensive sports platform that brings together athletes in various sports, comprising people of determination, and different classes of society, allowing them all to enjoy unique opportunity to exercise sports during the Holy Month of Ramadan in distinctive & competitive atmospheres that enhance the spirit of interaction & positivity and cement the concept of sport as a way of life. Hassan Al Mazrouei, the Tournament's Manager, emphasized the Organizing Committee's keenness to select sports competitions that conform to the promising sports and community goals, set by Sheikh Hamdan, and overseen by Sheikh Mansoor. He explained that over the past 11 editions, the tournament has contributed to the development of several sports games, and it has also presented various competitions that enriched the sports sector and contributed to the enhancement of the status of various sports & competitions, which are followed by fans in UAE and overseas, and held with distinctive participation of elite of the best ranked global athletes. He added that the increase in the number of sports competitions and the attracting of further amateurs and professionals to participate in the tournament reflect the eminent & growing role of the event in supporting the sports sector and boosting Dubai's sports community. 'These factors also confirm the annual dramatic increase in the numbers of events & participants, as the Tournament has witnessed, throughout the last versions, remarkable participation of 51 thousand amateur and professional athletes from UAE and overseas who competed in 88 competitions of various sports. He remarked: "We are pleased to raise the number of sports in the 12th edition of the Tournament into 11 sports, including many Olympic and popular sports. The Organizing Committee is keen to add Olympic games with international participation, providing players with valuable opportunities to compete versus international athletes and acquire new experiences. We will soon extend invitations to athletes and teams to participate in the various competitions of the tournament."
