When Was The Last Time Virat Kohli Played A List A Game Besides ODIs?

Last Updated: Virat Kohli's ODI future is uncertain as BCCI may replace him for the 2027 World Cup. Ace India batter Virat Kohli's future in ODI cricket has become the biggest topic of discussion in Indian cricket at the moment, with certain reports suggesting that he might be shown the door with the BCCI looking to bring in fresh faces for the 2027 ODI World Cup. With the Bangladesh series scheduled this month being called off, India's next ODI assignment will be an away series from October 19-25 against Australia. However, whether Rohit Sharma and Kohli will be playing ODIs post Australia tour is a matter of conjecture. Kohli last played a List A game, other than ODIs, in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy in Indore 12 years ago. Opting to bat first, India Blue scored 274, riding on Manish Pandey's 62 and a cameo from Piyush Chawla. Parvinder Awana and Rajat Bhatia picked four wickets apiece. In the chase, Delhi found themselves at 46/4 before Milind Kumar and Bhatia added 74 runs for the fifth wicket. After the former was dismissed by Chawla, wicketkeeper Punit Bisht and Varun Sood added 54 runs for the seventh wicket. After the latter was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Bisht and Ashish Nehra added 34 runs for the eighth wicket, but after Nehra was dismissed by the former, Delhi folded for 224. Bhuvneshwae finished with four wickets. In that game, Kohli had India head coach Gautam Gambhir, Unmukt Chand, Virender Sehwag, Rajat Bhatia and Nehra as his teammates. Indian cricket runs on narratives and it is about whether Kohli and Rohit, with a cumulative 83 ODI centuries and 25,000-plus runs, can last till the October 2027 ODI World Cup when they would be 39 and 40 years old. 'Obviously, if they (Rohit and Kohli) have something in mind, they would tell the BCCI brass like they did before the England Test tour. But from an Indian team's perspective, the next big assignment is the T20 World Cup in February and preparations before that," a BCCI source told PTI. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. An intriguing question — if they need List A match practice — is when Kohli last played such a game outside of ODIs. The answer takes us back 12 years, to the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy in Indore in 2013. Then Delhi skipper Kohli turned out for his state side in a clash against India Blue, which also featured current head coach Gautam Gambhir as opening batter and sharing the XI with Virender Sehwag and Ashish Nehra.
