When Was The Last Time Virat Kohli Played A List A Game Besides ODIs?
Virat Kohli's ODI future is uncertain as BCCI may replace him for the 2027 World Cup.
Ace India batter Virat Kohli's future in ODI cricket has become the biggest topic of discussion in Indian cricket at the moment, with certain reports suggesting that he might be shown the door with the BCCI looking to bring in fresh faces for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
With the Bangladesh series scheduled this month being called off, India's next ODI assignment will be an away series from October 19-25 against Australia.
However, whether Rohit Sharma and Kohli will be playing ODIs post Australia tour is a matter of conjecture.
Kohli last played a List A game, other than ODIs, in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy in Indore 12 years ago. Opting to bat first, India Blue scored 274, riding on Manish Pandey's 62 and a cameo from Piyush Chawla. Parvinder Awana and Rajat Bhatia picked four wickets apiece.
In the chase, Delhi found themselves at 46/4 before Milind Kumar and Bhatia added 74 runs for the fifth wicket. After the former was dismissed by Chawla, wicketkeeper Punit Bisht and Varun Sood added 54 runs for the seventh wicket.
After the latter was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Bisht and Ashish Nehra added 34 runs for the eighth wicket, but after Nehra was dismissed by the former, Delhi folded for 224. Bhuvneshwae finished with four wickets.
In that game, Kohli had India head coach Gautam Gambhir, Unmukt Chand, Virender Sehwag, Rajat Bhatia and Nehra as his teammates.
Indian cricket runs on narratives and it is about whether Kohli and Rohit, with a cumulative 83 ODI centuries and 25,000-plus runs, can last till the October 2027 ODI World Cup when they would be 39 and 40 years old.
'Obviously, if they (Rohit and Kohli) have something in mind, they would tell the BCCI brass like they did before the England Test tour. But from an Indian team's perspective, the next big assignment is the T20 World Cup in February and preparations before that," a BCCI source told PTI.

Ritika clinches heavyweight gold
Bangkok: Ritika bagged gold in the women's 80+kg category as India finished a creditable overall fourth in the Under-22 category of the Asian Boxing Championships here on Monday. The Indian U-22 contingent concluded their campaign with a total of 13 medals, while the U19 group returned home with a total of 14 medals, including three gold, seven silver and four bronze. The effort helped the U-19 side to end up at overall second in the tournament. However, the day's sole gold came through Ritika in the women's 80+kg final, where she kept her composure under pressure to beat Kazakhstan's Assel Toktassyn. Facing a strong boxer, Ritika mixed caution with aggression to land some telling blows, bagging India's fourth gold in the event. In the morning session, Yatri Patel settled for a silver after losing to Khumorabonu Mamajonova of Uzbekistan in women's 57kg, while Priya's spirited fight against Yu Tian of China in the 60kg final ended in a narrow 2:3 loss. Later in the day, Neeraj went down against Shavkatjon Boltaev of Uzbekistan in the men's 75kg final. Later, Ishan Kataria lost to Khalimjon Mamasoliev of Uzbekistan in the 90+kg gold medal clash, as both the Indian boxers secured silver. India's overall medal haul across both age groups and genders underlined the strength and depth of its youth boxing programme. Earlier this year, the U-15 and U-17 squads had combined for 43 medals at the Asian Championships, with the U-15 contingent delivering the highest number of golds in the competition - 11 in total - led by the girls' team, who swept 10 of the 15 available gold medals and won every final they contested on the penultimate day.

Former selector explains why Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should not continue their ODI careers
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Indian cricket greats Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's ODI future has been the subject of intense discussion, with the October series against Australia being seen as their farewell match. Despite their good form, both players are reportedly not part of plans for the ODI World Cup 2027. Former BCCI selector says Rohit and Kohli should move on Former BCCI selection committee member Devang Gandhi believes it is time to move on from the experienced pair to create opportunities for young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan in the ODI format. 'How will you make players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Sai Sudharsan, among others, sit out when they have shown how well they can adapt? The bigger transition is from T20s to Tests. Once a player has done well in Test cricket and has the power game, ODIs should come easier to them. It is very important that the selectors and the team management sit together and take a call,' Gandhi told the Times of India. Rohit and Kohli will need to play Domestic cricket According to reports, if Rohit and Kohli want to continue playing 50-over cricket, they will need to play domestic cricket. However, the BCCI has not yet made their decision official. However, Gandhi believes that even this may not be possible, as young players must be prepared for the ODI World Cup in case Virat and Rohit don't perform as expected before the main event. 'If, say, in a year's time, we come to a situation where one of them is not firing and we need a replacement, the team management may not have enough time to prepare a player for the job,' Gandhi said. 'There's absolutely no doubt about the contribution of Rohit and Virat. But time doesn't wait for anybody,' Gandhi added.
