Bhatti cries foul over BJP's stance on TG caste survey

Hyderabad: Refuting the accusations of BJP State president N Ramchander Rao that the Telangana's caste survey was unscientific and flawed, the Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated that the survey was conducted adhering to scientific standards and with proper planning. Condemning the BJP's criticism, he called it disruptive politics aimed at obstructing positive social change. Deputy CM who was briefing to media on the recently conducted Socio-Economic Caste Survey by the State Government at Secretariat expressed his anguish after the Telangana BJP reportedly criticised the implementation of the survey. He elaborated on the chronology of events leading up to the survey, underlining the transparent scientific approach adopted by the government. He stated that the 'Telangana Model' of caste-based socio-economic data collection is now drawing nationwide attention and appreciation for its inclusive and data-driven methodology. Bhatti Vikramarka attributed the conceptual foundation of the survey to Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi. He said that it was Rahul Gandhi's idea to initiate such a survey in Telangana, and this has now had a ripple effect at the national level, prompting the Union Government to consider including caste-related data in the upcoming national census. The Deputy Chief Minister also informed the media that a high-level delegation, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and comprising key ministers including himself, will visit New Delhi on July 24. The delegation aims to brief the Congress central leadership on the modalities and execution of the caste survey in Telangana. In addition, the delegation will meet Members of Parliament across party lines to garner support for the proposed legislation that would enable the inclusion of caste data in the national census. The State Government is committed to championing the cause of social justice and equitable development through informed policymaking based on comprehensive data, he added.

Cong taunts BJP's BC leaders over ‘Upper Caste' state chief

Hyderabad: The Congress party on Tuesday challenged Backward Classes (BC) leaders within the BJP to respond to comments made by their newly appointed state president, N Ramchander Rao. Rao had reportedly questioned the Telangana state government's sincerity regarding a proposed 42 per cent reservation for BCs, citing an 'unscientific approach.' Speaking to media at Gandhi Bhavan, Congress official spokesperson B Lingam Yadav asserted that if BJP MPs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, D Aravind, and Eatala Rajender failed to counter the remarks from their new state president, it would convey a misleading message that the BJP is a party opposed to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and BCs. The Congress leader affirmed that the Revanth government's objective is to implement reservations mirroring the model in Tamil Nadu, which has successfully navigated the constraints of reservation caps. 'The BC leaders in BJP should respond,' Yadav pressed. 'Bandi Sanjay, Aravind, Etela Rajender should respond to Ramchandra's comments on BC reservations. If 42 per cent reservation is not given to BCs, BCs would be further marginalised.' He vowed, 'We will achieve 42 per cent reservation by building pressure on Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.' Yadav further contended that those opposing the reservation now are the same leaders who championed 'Kamandal politics' as a counter to the 'Mandal Commission' recommendations in the past.

Rahul Gandhi refused appointment to CM Revanth, insulted people of Telangana: BJP chief

HYDERABAD: BJP state president N Ramchander Rao has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of showing disrespect to Telangana's people by allegedly denying appointment to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, while the latter could easily secure an audience with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers. Ramchander Rao also criticised Gandhi for skipping Parliament sessions where critical issues were being discussed. During a visit to Delhi on Monday, Rao met with BJP national leaders, including Sunil Bansal, Arvind Menon, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. He is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J.P. Nadda on Tuesday. The BJP state president said that Revanth Reddy visited Delhi 46 times since becoming the chief minister but could not get an audience with the Congress party leadership, which he said was an insult to the people of the state. He further accused the Congress of wrongly blaming the BJP and Union government on the issue of Backward Classes (BC) reservations. He pointed out that the BJP supported the BC reservation bill in the state Assembly but criticized Congress for supporting a 10% reservation under the BC quota on religious grounds, which he said his party opposes. Ramchander Rao raised concerns about the Congress government's failure to seek legal expertise before sending the BC reservation bill or recent ordinance to the central government, noting that such matters fall under the Ninth Schedule. He referred to Tamil Nadu and I.R. Coelho cases, which are under judicial review, and argued that the Congress is aware of the 50% reservation cap and yet continues to blame the BJP for political gain. Addressing factionalism in the BJP, he said that disciplinary action would be taken against those who crossed the party line, asserting that there is no distinction between new and old members. He expressed confidence that both state and national leadership would resolve any internal issues, big or small.

BJP Telangana President slams Congress over BC reservation issue

Hyderabad, July 21 (UNI) BJP Telangana State President N Ramchander Rao on Monday came down heavily on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of misleading the public on the issue of 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections and playing political games for electoral gain. Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi during his first visit to the capital after taking charge, Rao said he was seeking blessings and guidance from the party's central leadership to strengthen the BJP in the state. He informed that he met senior leaders Sunil Bansal, Arvind Menon, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and is scheduled to meet BJP National President J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday. Criticising the Congress party's approach, he said, "While key national issues are being discussed in Parliament, the main opposition leader is missing. Yet, they have the audacity to criticise the BJP." He pointed out that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had visited Delhi 46 times in the last 19 months, but top Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi did not grant him an appointment even once. 'This is not just an insult to the CM but to the people of Telangana,' he said. On the issue of BC reservations, Rao asserted that the Congress government is trying to divert public attention by bringing up the 9th Schedule without understanding the legal process. 'Even if a law is included in the 9th Schedule, the Supreme Court can still review it, as made clear in the Kesavananda Bharati case and reiterated in the I.R. Coelho judgment,' he said. He questioned the Congress for failing to amend Section 285 of the Panchayati Raj Act in the Assembly, which is necessary to legally raise BC reservation percentages. 'The Congress is blaming the Centre unnecessarily, while not doing its own homework. They brought the ordinance only after the High Court's permission, and now they are trying to blame others,' he said. He said the BJP supported the bill in the Assembly when it was introduced but made it clear that the party is completely opposed to religious-based reservations. 'The attempt to provide 10 per cent reservation to Muslim minorities under this ordinance is nothing but communal and political appeasement,' he said. Rao accused the Congress government of deliberately delaying the local body elections under the guise of the reservation issue. 'They are indulging in drama to mislead the BC community instead of acting responsibly,' he charged. Taking a swipe at both Congress and BRS, he said, 'They are two sides of the same coin. Both parties attended meetings led by DMK's Stalin, revealing their political alignment.' Reiterating his commitment as the new state BJP chief, Rao said he would address any issues within the party and maintain internal discipline. He assured that both state and national leaderships would work together to resolve any differences among leaders or workers. 'Instead of playing blame games, the Congress should immediately implement the 42 per cent BC reservation it promised,' he called for legal clarity, transparency, and an end to what he termed as 'vote bank politics.' I'll take responsibility of leading BJP to victory in polls: Telangana president Ramchander

MEDAK: Exhorting party cadre to work harder, newly appointed BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Friday said he would take responsibility for leading the party to victory in the upcoming local body elections. He also expressed confidence that the BJP would form the government in the state in 2028. Addressing party workers at the district headquarters in Medak during his maiden visit as BJP state chief, Ramchander Rao said, 'The BJP is strengthening in Telangana, including in rural areas. The party now has 40 lakh members, which reflects its expansion. Our workers are our strength.' He claimed that the Union government, led by the BJP, has extended Rs 12 lakh crore to Telangana and said a BJP-led 'double engine government' would further accelerate development in the state. Referring to the coach factory at Kazipet, Ramchander Rao said the long-pending project had been realised under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and would be inaugurated shortly by the Union Railway Minister. He said the BJP works for all communities, pointing to the allocation of 20 minister posts to BC leaders. Ramchander Rao challenged the Congress to appoint a BC leader as chief minister in place of A Revanth Reddy. He also stated that the BJP was committed to providing 42% reservations for BCs. Accusing the Congress of misgovernance and corruption, Ramchander Rao said, 'The Congress government has failed to implement its promises. The chief minister is frequently travelling to Delhi instead of addressing state issues. The government has let down the farming community.' He also alleged that both the Congress and BRS had misled the public and called upon party workers to mobilise support to bring the BJP to power in the state.
