Rahul Gandhi refused appointment to CM Revanth, insulted people of Telangana: BJP chief
Ramchander Rao also criticised Gandhi for skipping Parliament sessions where critical issues were being discussed. During a visit to Delhi on Monday, Rao met with BJP national leaders, including Sunil Bansal, Arvind Menon, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. He is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J.P. Nadda on Tuesday.
The BJP state president said that Revanth Reddy visited Delhi 46 times since becoming the chief minister but could not get an audience with the Congress party leadership, which he said was an insult to the people of the state. He further accused the Congress of wrongly blaming the BJP and Union government on the issue of Backward Classes (BC) reservations.
He pointed out that the BJP supported the BC reservation bill in the state Assembly but criticized Congress for supporting a 10% reservation under the BC quota on religious grounds, which he said his party opposes.
Ramchander Rao raised concerns about the Congress government's failure to seek legal expertise before sending the BC reservation bill or recent ordinance to the central government, noting that such matters fall under the Ninth Schedule. He referred to Tamil Nadu and I.R. Coelho cases, which are under judicial review, and argued that the Congress is aware of the 50% reservation cap and yet continues to blame the BJP for political gain.
Addressing factionalism in the BJP, he said that disciplinary action would be taken against those who crossed the party line, asserting that there is no distinction between new and old members. He expressed confidence that both state and national leadership would resolve any internal issues, big or small.

3.15 crore persons getting fine rice now in Telangana under PDS: Uttam
HYDERABAD Minister for Civil Supplies and Irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has stated that there is no better welfare scheme than providing fine-quality rice to ration cardholders under the public distribution system, and Telangana is the only State in the country to do so. Speaking at a programme in Huzurnagar on Tuesday to distribute new ration cards, he said he was fortunate that the supply of fine-quality rice as part of PDS was launched in his constituency. The in-charge Minister for the combined Nalgonda district, A. Laxman Kumar, Commissioner of Civil Supplies, D.S. Chouhan, and others participated in the event. Alleging that the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government had neglected the issuance of new ration cards, Mr. Uttam Reddy said the Congress government would give new ration cards to every eligible family/household. He explained that their government had issued 7,95,685 new ration cards with a total of 33,97,367 beneficiaries. At the time of the Congress government assuming office, there were about 89 lakh ration cards in the State with a total of 2.81 crore beneficiaries. The number of beneficiaries has now gone up to 3,78,00,367 which has set a new benchmark in welfare governance by delivering food security, nutrition and social justice to over 80% of the State's population. Mr. Uttam Reddy recalled that the Fine Rice Scheme, which ensures 6 kg of fine-quality rice per person per month to every ration card holder, has emerged as the country's most ambitious and inclusive food welfare programme. He stated that over 1.85 crore people benefited from the first phase of fine rice distribution beginning in Huzurnagar and on expansion in ration card coverage, over 3.15 crore individuals were now receiving this entitlement regularly across the State.

Cuddalore medical student in Russia says he's being forced to fight in Ukraine; family seeks Centre's help
The last time Kishore Saravanan's family heard from him was when he sent them a frantic voice message about being forcibly sent to the warfront in Ukraine. The 22-year-old from Palayamkottai in Cuddalore district had gone to Russia to pursue MBBS. He was previously arrested by the Russian police in 2023 in an alleged drug case, according to his family. Kishore's father, J. Saravanan, said his son had sent a voice message on July 12, saying the Russian government had forcibly enlisted him to fight against Ukraine. 'I could not contact him on his phone, and his friends informed me that he was taken away by the Russian police. Though my son refused to join the Russian army, he was beaten and forced to sign a few documents. He was also given a Russian identity card and passport,' Mr. Saravanan told The Hindu. Kishore's family has urged the Union government to ensure his safe return. 'Kishore was reportedly given training for 10 days, and is now being taken to the conflict zone. Though we contacted the Indian Embassy in Russia seeking assistance, there has been no response,' Mr. Saravanan said. He said Kishore, a third-year MBBS student at Volgograd State Medical University, was arrested on May 4, 2023. 'Kishore worked part-time in an online parcel service company, and was arrested with his Indian roommate and two Russians by after drugs were found in a parcel meant for delivery. The police were trying to force him to confess to the crime, but he refused to do so. We can't contact him now, and there is no information on his whereabouts. We don't know whether he is still alive or not,' he said. When contacted, Cuddalore Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar said the State government had escalated the issue, and the Ministry of External Affairs was in touch with the Indian Embassy. There had been no update so far, he said. VCK president and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan urged External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to intervene and ensure Kishore's safe return. MDMK principal secretary and Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko also sought the Centre's intervention. In a letter to Mr. Jaishankar, Mr. Vaiko urged him to take up the issue with the Russian government at the highest level.
