Telangana Gaddar Film Awards shine bright with star-studded ceremony
The maiden Telangana Gaddar Film Awards (TGFA) ceremony was organised in the presence of prominent film personalities, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as the chief guest. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Cinematography and Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju lit the ceremonial lamp to kick off the event, which was also attended by veteran actors Jayaprada, Jayasudha and Suhasini. The iconic State film awards were presented after a gap of 14 years after the Telangana government revived it under the name 'Gaddar Telangana Film Awards', paying tribute to the late revolutionary poet and balladeer Gaddar. Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna received the 'NTR National Film Award', director Mani Ratnam the 'Paidi Jairaj Film Award' and Sukumar the 'BN Reddy Film Award'. The 'Kantha Rao Film Award' was presented to Vijay Devarakonda. Film writer Yandamuri Veerendranath received the 'Raghupathi Venkaiah Film Award'. Veteran actor and jury chairman M. Muralimohan and members of the jury were felicitated. The designer of the TGFA, Ramavath Nagula Naik, and others, including film critic Ponnam Ravichandra, were also honoured at the event. Actor Allu Arjun, who bagged the first best actor award for his blockbuster Pushpa 2, received the award from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and thanked the government for selecting him for the award. Speaking on the occasion, he said he was truly honoured to receive the first award for Pushpa 2 at the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024. 'All credit goes to my director Sukumar, my producers and the entire Pushpa team. I dedicate this award to all my fans,' he said. After receiving the 'NTR National Film Award', Nandamuri Balakrishna showered praise on the government for naming the film awards after balladeer Gaddar. He also remembered the contributions of his father, the late N.T. Rama Rao, to the Telugu film industry. Gaddar Foundation chairman and Gaddar's son Suryakiran, TGFDC MD and others were present at the event.

CM presents Gaddar film awards
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy presented the first Telangana Gaddar Film Awards at a glittering function attended by a galaxy of movie stars and folk artistes at Hitex here on Saturday. In the presence of a constellation of stars, both veterans and newcomers, from the tinsel town; the 2024 awards were presented for top performances in various categories. Besides, several artistes were recognized for their contribution in various disciplines. Actor Allu Arjun was presented the Best Leading Actor award for his titular role in Pushpa-2 by the Chief Minister in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and TGFDC chairman Dil Raju. The NTR National Film Award was presented to Nandamuri Balakrishna, while Mani Ratnam was given the Paidi Jairaj Film Award. Nivetha Thomas was honoured with Best Actress for Chinna Katha Kadu, while Nag Ashwin was named Best Director for Kalki 2898 AD. The Chief Minister also presented the Best Feature Film award to Kalki 2898 AD, while the Second Best Film award went to Pottel. Lucky Bhaskar got the Third Best Film of the year. Razakar received the Best Feature Film in the historical fiction category.

‘Daaku Maharaj' Actor Balakrishna To Receive Telangana's NTR National Film Award
Hyderabad: Popular Tollywood actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has been honoured with the NTR National Film Award and eminent filmmaker Mani Ratnam with the Paidi Jairaj Film Award by the Telangana government for their contributions to the film industry. The state government on Friday announced special awards as part of Gaddar Telangana Film Awards (GTFA). Veteran actor Murali Mohan, along with Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TSFDC) chairman Dil Raju, announced the special awards. Balakrishna will receive the award instituted in the name of his father, legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao, who was popularly known as NTR. Popular as Balayya in film circles, Balakrishna began his acting career as a child artist at the age of 14 and in a career spanning four decades, acted in more than 100 films. The jury chose Maniratnam for the Paidi Jairaj Film Award for Indian film personality. Well-known director Sukumar will get the BN Reddy Film Award for Telugu film director. Nagireddy & Chakrapani Film Award for Telugu Producer will be presented to Atluri Purna Chandra Rao. Actor Vijay Devarakonda has been picked up for the Kantha Rao Film Award for Telugu artist, while screenwriter Yendamuri Verendranath will receive the Raghupathi Venkaiah Film Award (other than film artist, Telugu). The jury also announced the best film awards from 2014 to 2023. A day after announcing GTFA awards for 2024 in 11 different categories, the jury declared the best films for the last 10 years. The best films were selected from among the films produced between June 2, 2014 (formation of Telangana state) and December 31, 2023. The three best films were chosen for each year. 'Run Raja Run' was adjudged the best film for 2014, while 'Rudramadevi' was selected for 2015. 'Shatamanambhavathi' was declared the best film for 2016. The jury picked 'Bahubali Conclusion' as the best film for 2017. 'Mahanati' bagged the best film award for 2018, while 'Maharshi' emerged as the top movie for 2019. The other films selected for the category are 'Ala Vaikuntapuramulo' (2020), 'RRR' (2021), 'Sitaramam' (2022) and 'Balagam' (2023). Telangana has revived the Nandi awards for excellence in Telugu cinema and renamed them after revolutionary poet and balladeer Gaddar, who passed away in 2023. The awards have been revived after a gap of 14 years. Veteran actress Jayasudha, who headed the jury, on Thursday announced the awards for 2024. All the awards will be presented on June 14.

Gaddar Telangana Film Awards on June 14
HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has announced that the government will present the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards on June 14. On Tuesday, the Gaddar Awards jury committee, chaired by actress Jayasudha, met with Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at LV Prasad Cine Lab to discuss the preparations. The awards will retrospectively honour one outstanding film each year from 2014 to 2023. The Telangana Film Development Corporation has received 76 applications from directors and producers in various categories, along with 1,172 nominations for individual awards. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the awards ceremony will be held in a grand manner at HITEX, Hyderabad. He criticised the previous government for neglecting the film industry and reaffirmed the current government's commitment to supporting its growth. 'The earlier Congress government took significant steps to bring the film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad, including the allocation of land for studios and housing sites for film artists,' he remarked. Praising revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, the deputy CM said he truly embodies Telangana's culture. 'Gaddar has taken Telangana's cultural ideology to the global stage,' he added.
